Chapter 22: Family Meeting [ 5 ]

Arthur surveyed his seven cousins, a calm determination etched on his face as he awaited their responses.

The room was thick with silence, each cousin lost in their own thoughts.

Arthur knew that the Osborn family could not afford willfulness, especially among the younger generation.

In times like these, there was no room for whims or personal dreams; it was all about duty and responsibility.

As members of the Osborn family, they were bound to follow one of two paths: business or politics, no exceptions.

Arthur had no intention of entertaining fantasies about happiness or self-fulfillment that wouldn't contribute to the family's legacy.

For the next decade or so, each member would need to prioritize the family's growth over individual aspirations, even if it meant sacrificing their dreams.

The gravity of Arthur's expression made it clear: there would be no negotiation. Politics or business, those were their only options.

"Brother, I'll go into business," George, son of Arthur's second uncle, declared as he raised his head to meet Arthur's gaze.

"I studied Business and Management in Mining and Energy," George continued confidently. "I'm ready."

"Me too!" William, son of Arthur's first uncle, chimed in from across the table. "I've got a degree in Mining Engineering; I'll also pursue business."

Arthur smiled at them both. "Excellent! You two will lead the Osborn Mining and Resource Group. Here are the details, study them closely." He handed a flash drive to George with a reassuring nod.

Bella and Olivia then spoke up in unison: "We've decided to join Ash at the Osborn Fashion and Cosmetics Group."

"Great choice! You'll both serve as CEOs of subsidiaries under Ashley," Arthur replied earnestly.

"But first, you must learn from your first uncle for three months before being evaluated for your positions."

"We understand; we won't let you down," Bella assured him as she adjusted her glasses with determination.

Arthur turned his attention to Eva and Charlotte. "And what about you two? Business or politics?"

"Politics!" they answered simultaneously, surprising everyone around the table.

"That works," Arthur chuckled lightly while eyeing them thoughtfully. "If I remember correctly, you both studied law at Aurelian Law University?"

"Yes!" Charlotte affirmed with a slight smile.

"Hmmm... interesting." He narrowed his eyes as he considered their futures before focusing on Charlotte again. "You will begin by serving as a judge in the lower courts."

Charlotte blinked in disbelief. "But brother! It's not easy becoming a judge, even at that level! I just graduated!"

"You got your Juris Doctor degree, right?"Arthur interjected suddenly, his eyes fixed on Charlotte.

"Yes..." Charlotte replied, a hint of uncertainty in her voice.

"That's great! You'll serve as a judge in the lower courts for a year to gain experience. After that, you'll advance. And don't worry, as long as there's money, there's nothing in this world that cannot be done!"Arthur said with a. smile.

Charlotte nodded, feeling relieved. As long as she could quickly climb the ranks to become a judge, she was ready to put in the work.

"Okay," she affirmed.

"In five years, I want to see you seated as a Supreme Court Justice," Arthur declared confidently.

The room fell silent as everyone processed his ambitious vision for Charlotte.

They hadn't expected him to dream so big, to imagine someone from the Osborn family rising to such heights within just five years.

But they couldn't help but feel excited; having an Osborn in such a prestigious position could only mean good things for their family's future.

"Remember,"** Arthur continued with unwavering assurance,"as long as money is involved, anything is possible! If something can't be solved, it just means we haven't invested enough."

He turned back to Charlotte and said,"Just focus on your studies and leave everything else to me. But make sure you build a solid foundation of skills; without that, no amount of money will help you succeed. Gain experience at every level, understand?"**

Charlotte nodded earnestly. "Yes, I understand! I won't let you down."

Arthur smiled approvingly before shifting his gaze toward Evan, who sat eagerly awaiting her turn.

"As for you, Eva,"he began again, "I want you to become a lawyer first. Work at a law firm and aim to win at least twenty cases, five of which should be significant ones. After that, we'll establish the Osborn Law Firm and you'll take charge. Can you do it?"**

Evan's determination shone through her quick nod: "Yes! I can do it!"

Arthur chuckled lightly before looking over at Oscar and Edward.

Oscar wasted no time: "Brother, I want to enter the transportation industry!"

Edward chimed in calmly but confidently: "I'm interested in heavy industry; it's one of the country's vital pillars."

Arthur nodded thoughtfully."Alright then! The Osborn Heavy Industry and Osborn Transportation Group will be entrusted to both of you.

But remember, spend three months learning from our second and third uncles before proceeding."He tossed each of them flash drives containing valuable information.

Both brothers caught the drives with serious expressions and acknowledged his words with determined nods.

Arthur took a moment to gather his thoughts, then nodded firmly. He turned to his first Aunt Margaret, his expression serious yet determined.

"Aunt Margaret," he began, "we're establishing Osborn Holdings, which will oversee all our family industries. You will serve as its first president."

He glanced at his uncles and aunts before continuing, "The presidency will rotate every five years among the five of you."

Taking a deep breath, Arthur elaborated, "Osborn Holdings will hold all shares of our various businesses and their subsidiaries. Each year, every industry must transfer ninety percent of their annual profits into Osborn Holdings while retaining ten percent for operational costs, excluding employee salaries."

Julian and the others exchanged glances filled with contemplation; satisfaction flickered in their eyes as they absorbed Arthur's vision.

"And let me be clear: no company under our family banner will ever go public," Arthur added with an air of nonchalance.

"As the parent company for all our industries, Osborn Holdings is crucial. If any of you wish to expand your business, you'll need to submit a detailed report explaining your intentions.

Additionally, we'll have an evaluation team that visits each company monthly and annually to assess performance.

There are rewards for meeting standards and consequences for falling short, they'll come incognito at any time. So always be prepared!" Arthur concluded with a smile.
