"Boss, the assassination failed," a figure said in a deep voice while holding a phone.

The other end fell silent for a moment before a hoarse voice replied, "I know. Wait for another opportunity, but this time, don't fail me."

"Understood, boss," the figure responded before hanging up.

When Arthur opened his eyes, the first thing he noticed was the stark white ceiling above him.

Confusion washed over him momentarily until clarity struck; he was in a hospital.

As he glanced around, he realized he was lying in a hospital bed, various instruments attached to him like lifelines.

He attempted to adjust his position slightly when an excruciating pain shot through his body.

"Hisss!" He gasped in agony as he looked at his shoulder, now tightly bandaged. The discomfort was overwhelming.

A bitter smile crept onto Arthur's face as he lay back on the bed; he hadn't expected to find himself transmigrated into this world only to be on the brink of death again.

"Dammit! If I find out who's targeting me, they'll regret it!" Arthur gritted his teeth, a cold light flashing in his eyes.

He wasn't naïve; he knew someone was after him, someone he believed was responsible for the tragic death of his parents.

Surviving one assassination attempt was just luck, but what about next time? The thought sent chills down his spine.

What if this shadowy figure decided to go after the rest of the Osborn family, his uncles, aunts, cousins, and siblings? It would spell disaster for them all.

"I need to uncover who's behind this before I lose any chance of sleeping peacefully," Arthur muttered under his breath.

A few minutes later, he let out a heavy sigh and shook his head in disbelief. "It seems my suspicions were right, someone is truly targeting the Osborn family."

His eyes narrowed as he pondered who could harbor such animosity, someone ruthless enough to kill his parents and now come after him.

This same person had nearly driven them to bankruptcy.

"This is serious," Arthur muttered with determination flashing in his eyes. "I need to uncover this guy quickly; otherwise, things will get increasingly dangerous."

Taking a deep breath, he tried to set aside the looming threat for now.

He'd deal with it after being released from the hospital.

Suddenly, the door swung open as a nurse walked in.

Arthur turned to her with narrowed eyes, cautious and alert.

"Huh! You're awake!" she exclaimed, surprise evident on her face.

Without wasting a moment, she dashed out to call the doctor.

Arthur sighed in relief as she left; he had briefly feared she might be an assassin sent to finish him off.

After all, there are countless movies where assassins disguise themselves as nurses!

Given that he was currently on someone's hit list, it was only natural for him to be wary.

A few moments later, the nurse returned with a doctor in a crisp white coat and gold-rimmed glasses, a man who appeared to be in his forties.

Arthur scrutinized him closely from head to toe.

"Arthur! Brother! Big brother!" Suddenly, a soft voice broke through his thoughts from behind the doctor, startling him.

He turned around and saw his uncles, aunties, Elizabeth (Liz), Ashley, and a young man who bore a slight resemblance to him rushing toward the bed.

"Huh! It's you guys!" A smile spread across Arthur's face upon seeing them.

"Arthur! Are you okay? Who shot you?" Uncle Julian and the others crowded around him with concern etched on their faces.

Liz and Ashley were particularly distraught; tears streamed down their cheeks.

"Please step back so I can examine him," said the doctor firmly but kindly.

"Oh! Sorry, Doctor!" They quickly stepped aside for him.

After ten minutes of examination alongside the nurse, the doctor addressed Arthur:

"Well Mr. Osborn, you're stable now. You lost quite a bit of blood previously but you're recovering well, you should be able to leave in a couple of days."

"Thank you so much," Arthur nodded appreciatively at the doctor with a warm smile.

The doctor nodded back before exiting with the nurse.

"Arthur! How are you holding up?" Uncle Julian asked again with genuine concern as he stepped forward.

"I'm good, really," Arthur reassured them all with another warm smile directed at Julian and everyone else gathered around him.

"But how did this even happen?" Margaret questioned sorrowfully while looking at Arthur lying on the bed as if her heart was breaking into pieces.
