Das sat amidst the chaos, his mind elsewhere, as drama unfolded around him. Ignoring the commotion, he reached for his mobile and opened his contact list.

With practiced ease, he navigated to Amara’s contact. Just as he hovered over the call button, he paused as another thought invaded his brain.

"What’s the use of contacting Amara?" He muttered to himself, his finger hesitating. "She’ll undoubtedly come to the aid of this donkey," he glanced at the tall figure in groom’s attire kneeling before him, "and showing mercy won’t earn me any favors from her. This is merely a trivial matter in her eyes."

His thoughts wavered, and instead, his fingers swiped to another number. He dialed a member of the Farus family, Leela. Her sweet voice greeted him with a lovey-dovey tone.

"Baby, where did you go? Come here. I’m thinking of revealing our relationship to my sister." Leela’s voice sang through the phone, but Das felt only a headache mounting.

"I should have devised a different plan for this chick. She is overreacting to the situation." Das muttered under his breath, contemplating his next move.

After changing his tone, Das began speaking. "Leela, a member of your family has intruded into my city. He attempted to force a marriage and even made an attempt on my life when I intervened. His men fired 69 bullets at me. What should I do now?" Das’s words fired bolts inside Leela’s brain as anger rose on her face.

Das’s feigned nervousness roused Leela from her sleep, and her response was immediate and fierce. "Which bastard did that?" she demanded, her anger palpable even through the phone.

Instead of responding, Das handed the phone to the tall groom, who regarded him with pride. As the tall guy put the phone in his ear, he was met with a barrage of curses so vehement that he staggered back, nearly vomiting blood. It was evident he had never heard such fury from a lady before.

"I’m Leela, the second in command of the Farus family," she spat angrily. "Which bastard son are you?" Leela asked, giving a break to her long list of curses.

Except for the tone coming from the other end of the call, there is no other sound in the room. Everyone is staring at the tall guy, who is shaking to answer.

Hoping that he might get some slack after saying his name, the tall guy opened his mouth to reply. "Sister, I’m Abby. Your first uncle’s firstborn. You used to call me a little brother. Do you remember me?" The tall guy spoke in a sobbing tone, trying to gain some mercy.

Leela’s fury blazed even hotter upon hearing Abby’s name. "Abby?!" she spat, her voice dripping with venom. "You dare to call yourself my little brother after your despicable actions? You have tarnished our family’s name with your cowardice and brutality!"

Abby’s heart sank at the sound of his sister’s wrath. He had hoped that invoking their familial bond would soften her anger, but it only seemed to fuel it further. Tears welled in his eyes as he struggled to find the right words to placate her.

"Sister, please," he pleaded, his voice trembling with emotion. "I know I have made grave mistakes, but I beg for your forgiveness.

I never meant to bring shame upon our family. I was foolish and led astray by the Reddy family. But I swear to you, I will make amends for my actions. Just please, help me." Stay tuned to novelbuddy

But Leela’s rage showed no signs of abating. "Bastard!" she seethed, her words cutting like a knife. "Beg Das for mercy. If he is not satisfied, I will kill you with my own hands. Do you understand? I will hang your dead body before the Farus family cemetery if you dare to touch Das again."

Abby’s heart hammered in his chest as he listened to his sister’s words. The weight of his mistakes bore down on him, and he felt a surge of shame and regret wash over him. He had never seen Leela so angry, and the realization of the pain he had caused her cut him to the core.

"But sister," he protested weakly, "I am also a member of the Farus family. How could I beg a commoner who is working like a dog under our family?"

Leela’s eyes flashed with fury at his words. "You son of a hitch, how dare you speak like that? I will kill you if you utter another word. You dare to speak of our family’s honor when you have brought nothing but disgrace upon it?" she spat. "You have forfeited your right to claim kinship with us. From this moment forth, you are nothing but a stain upon our family’s legacy."

Abby hung his head in shame, unable to meet Das’s gaze. He knew that no amount of pleading or apologies could undo the damage he had caused. All he could do now was accept the consequences of his actions and pray for forgiveness.

With a dispirited look, he passed the mobile to Das. Leela’s voice is still ringing on the phone. But Das directly disconnected the call.

As Das’s gaze landed on Abby, he avoided his gaze and stared at the floor with a defeated look. Even Zumi and the soldiers avoided Das’s gaze, wondering what sort of person they disturbed this time.

"Luna, get up." Das said, taking out his car key. "Wait for me in the car. I will be back soon." Das said this while placing the car key in her hands.

Luna stared at her dad’s face, who was kneeling with a painful look. "Don’t worry about your father. I won’t kill him." Das said, staring at the Reddy family patriarch, who is glancing at the floor with a confused face. The patriarch did not know who Leela is or why Abby is so afraid of her. But after seeing the pleading of Abby, he already lost hope of getting back on Das.

"Luna, let’s go. Do not meddle in political matters." Ember, who already knew about Kent’s arrival, came in time to take Luna away.

After Luna left, Das’s gaze landed on Abby. "Do you know how lucky you are, Abby? You are the only guy who stayed alive after coveting one of my girls. Tell me, what should I do with you?" Das asked with a grim look as he thought of ideas on how to handle Abby.
