Chapter 1630: Liches, Gods and Deviants! (1)

"Ungrateful bastards. I can hear you," said Somanda as the three vessels tipped into Aigas’ atmosphere. His presence from SoSei slowly faded. "Make it all easy for me..."

The collective pressure of the Undeathly forces fell on Aigas in a brash tide. The Deities, Fulgardt and Skullius regarded it with wariness. It only surged forth stronger when those responsible for it made their move.

From Sobbo’s ship, fifty out of one hundred and twenty Death Knights at his disposal leaped down and fell like stars into Aigas.

Each one was a formidable opponent. They were unlike Rias’ newborn Death Knights, which had no experience. They were old monsters that had raided worlds, learned how to fight legions of living beings, and stole warring methodologies and techniques. They bore the scars and scrapes on their bones and armor to prove it.

Even for a mere Lich – a lower mortal Undeath master – the formula for producing such things, such Divine things, was a trifle to practice.

Soizar and Souran added a hundred Death Knights each to the collection of raiding Undeath units.

Altogether, two hundred and fifty Divine experts fell on Aigas.

"Testing the waters, huh?" Skullius said as the enemies approached. Hints of nostalgia tickled him. It was Death Knights he often saw and feared back in Deadmanland. They were terrifying and commanded respect back then. Now, however, they were no different than the Divine Carven he had killed earlier.

"Are you hungry, Ferex?"

The great beast under the Nullinity’s Herald didn’t need words to consent. He growled menacingly as his eyes changed, driven by an unpretty, raw determination to please his master.

Skullius chuckled, spared a glance at Fulgardt (who was a long distance away) and made a gesture with his free hand. (He had in his others a bow, a wakizashi and a gladius.)

...

Two of the three Liches above grinned, the flames in their sockets firing madly with anticipation. A battlefield with other Existential Parallels was always... exhilarating!

GRRRRRRM!

Aigas rumbled. The splash of colors, Deific Usurper’s Primary assault function... changed.

The greys darkened into blacks and the whites poured scintillating lights outward, each becoming akin to a severely deformed sun. The raging light blasted each and every expert on Aigas without fail.

It reached the Deities and appraised them in detail.

It penetrated the vessels of the Liches and scanned their bodies and their loot.

The first Secondary assault function of Deific Usurper... failed to eliminate these powerhouses.

...However, it had no trouble working on the deployed Death Knights!

Before the walking disasters landed on Aigas, tendrils of golden white Ju`wtte burst from within them violently, creating a network between them all that further enhanced the damage each Death Knight took from the baleful lightning. The Ju`wtte was unforgiving. It eviscerated the Death Knights’ armor, broke apart their bones, and then targeted their exposed souls. The damage finally reached their collective Broader Existences and annihilated them all.

Everything happened in a span of time no one could define – not the Liches, not the Deities, not Fulgardt and not even Skullius himself.

All the players on Aigas were both impressed and underwhelmed.

The latter was a result of them all immediately deducing the nature of the power Skullius had just used.

An attack that instantly kills enemies weaker than him, was everyone’s conclusion.

That was correct, and that was also why, in Skullius’ view...

[You have defeated a Standard Death Knight. 1.2 AKH units awarded]

[You have defeated an Advanced Death Knight. 1.7 AKH units awarded]

[You have defeated a Standard Death Knight. 1.1 AKH units awarded]

[You have defeated a Standard Death Knight. 1.0 AKH units awarded]

...

...

There was something else as well. Ferex was drooling like a rabid dog, his eyes turning mad.

*

Aboard the box-shaped vessel, Soizar scratched his chin, pushed up his spectacles and slotted his hand into his pocket.

"Anyone else wish to commend Somanda to a fate worse than life?" he asked.

"Fuck Somanda," said Sobbo with gusto. He was quite agitated.

Souran laughed. "Just be glad you shielded the rest of your Death Knights in time, young Sobbo."

That did not pacify the Lich at all. In fact, it only made him angrier.

He gave a command to his remaining Death Knights to halt the ship’s descent at once. The world of spiraling greys and whites was just below. That was where the attacks began, he gathered.

Soizar and Souran also pulled back their vessels.

"How much of a bother do you think that four-armed monstrosity is?" said Sobbo. He raised a finger, the phalanx at the end lengthening and twisting into a screw. Pointing right at Skullius with it, he drenched it with focused Undeath energy.

A Lich’s Undeath essence was a formidable thing. It was rich and voluminous. That was precisely why the Secondary attack function of Deific Usurper had not managed to obliterate the Death Knights and Doom Knights aboard Souran, Soizar and Sobbo’s vessels.

Likewise, the offensive power of such a thing was also commendable.

...!

Sobbo fired his finger at once!

A BANG would have sounded if it wasn’t incomprehensibly quick in its flight. The projectile didn’t travel through Aigas’ atmosphere. It didn’t subscribe to mere space.

...But be that as it may, it wouldn’t maneuver as it pleased in the Sovereign of Refined Anarchy’s domain.

The bright light bounding on Aigas projected threads of golden Ju`wtte that caught up with the bone screw before it could cross a third of the distance between Sobbo and Skullius. In another span of time none of the combatants on Aigas could define, the projectile... vanished.

Skullius smirked while Sobbo’s socket flames flared with rage.

"I suppose it is going to be harder than you think," said Soizar, answering the Lich’s previous question. He once again pushed up his spectacles.

Souran gave a nod. "Indeed. Another troublesome power. Your finger was warped somewhere, Sobbo." She cracked her knuckles. (Somehow it was possible). Looks like if we choose to fight in this place, we can’t rely on ranged attacks. Quite the detriment. He’s making us earn this."

"Indeed." Soizar said. "How dare he, the freak? Hmm. I have to say, though, it has been ages since I’ve gotten my suit bloody with a bit of the old hard scuffle."

"I’m considering it too," said Souran.

Someone else was considering a hard fight.

...!!!

The Liches, Skullius, Boron and Fulgardt snapped in this man’s direction.

Space warped around Quintess as his rich, deific Amras shuddered out of him as though he were some perverse geyser.

A Deity of his caliber was not to be looked down upon.

Quintess regarded no one else but Skullius with a hard stare as the full extent of his power burst out.

"Parade your Parallel strength all you want. You’re strong for sure," he said sternly. "You’re losing me, however. Flaunting a Territory around and expecting the architect behind its base design to bow to it is your worst mistake yet."
