Chapter 301: A Dream So Real

"Ivan?"

"Shhhh..." the vampire Lord swiftly placed a finger to his lips, silently conveying she should keep her tone down before someone hears. Out of involuntary measures, Samantha’s body pushed itself upright on the bed, and for a moment, she wiped her eyes countless times to ensure she wasn’t hallucinating but... no matter how many times she cleaned her eyes, the physical image of Ivan did not go away.

"Are you that desperate to erase me from your thoughts?" He teased, his expression unsmiling, whilst he took notice of her bewildered reaction to his presence. His crimson eyes moved to the delicate hand that extended up to his face, as if they wanted to touch him, to confirm if he was real or not, and Samantha grew speechless when he took her hand in his own and palmed his cheek with her hand.

"I won’t bite." He promised, and Samantha could no longer hold back her tears upon coming to the realization. With a swift motion that she never knew was above her capability, she embraced him tightly, hugging him close and feeling her body tremble as he rubbed her back affectionately. The familiar scent of him enveloped her senses, and that made her cling tighter, too afraid to let go and returning to the reality that would separate them once more.

"You... you’re here?" She pulled back to look at his face, then at her surroundings. "How are you here? How is this... how did you come..."

"Wait for me." She heard him say, and he carefully moved some strands of her hair away from her face, her crimson eyes reflecting his emotions back at him. His touch was inexplicably gentle, lingering longer than usual, and Samantha leaned her cheek into his palm, submitting to his comforting touch.

"Can you stay out of danger till I find you?" His fingers caressed her cheek lightly, portraying his reluctance to leave her side, but then his gaze hardened a bit after recollecting what he just asked, and he shook his head, as if he didn’t relay his words right. "It’s... it’s not a request, I need you to stay alive, tell me you’ll protect yourself until I find you. You’ll stay alive, won’t you? No harm will come to you, my Little Lamb will be alright till I find her, won’t she?"

"Don’t leave me now." Her voice sounded pleading, whilst she overlapped his hand with her own, refusing to let him go. "Stay with me, I don’t want to be here, I want to be with you. Don’t go, please..." her throat was so choked that her last sentence came out as a desperate whisper. His eyes never left her own, she could see he didn’t want to leave as well, his pain was as evident as hers, but what she never expected was for him to kiss her out of the blue.

Her pupils dilated when she felt his mouth upon hers, and she never realized how secretly she begged for them until he fulfilled it– but it was far more intense than she imagined it to be;

His kisses sent shivers down her spine as he stole her breath effortlessly, his hand moving to the back of her head and taking it deeper, like a man desperate to breathe, and she was his air. A chill rushed through her core, and the goosebumps that followed were inevitable. When their tongues briefly met, he pulled back from the kiss, knowing she’d be hungry for more if he continued, and their breaths became uneven, whilst he made her rest her forehead on his own.

"Tell me you’ll keep yourself protected," he coaxed, breathing against her lips, but his eyes held the need of reassurance. "Little Lamb, stay away from Marius till I get there."

"But... Do you know where to find me?"

"I’ll always find you, that has been our bond from the start." He dropped a kiss on her forehead, "be strong, and do whatever it is you can to stay alive, I’m coming."

"No.." her hands grabbed the collar of his shirt when he started to pull away, "don’t go, not yet... I need you." And she claimed his lips before he could think of an excuse, their tongues locked and sliding against each. He reciprocated her actions, responding to her needs, and her heartbeat drummed with desire.

"Mhmmn.. fuck! Wait...please." Ivan gently released his collar from her clutches, but their glued lips refused to part ways even when he tried. Their breathing was already labored, but when her hands moved to reach for the buttons of his chest, it felt as if there was a reverse in time, and when Samantha’s eyes flung open, it was daytime.

Struck by the sudden morning light, she quickly sat up on the bed. She wiped her eyes but it was still daytime. Scanning her room with a critical gaze, the disappointment that sunk deep in her heart at the reality of his absence, weighed on her like a load of heavy blocks. Strangely, the scent of him still lingered in her room, and the taste of him was still felt on her lips and tongue.

The steady drumbeat that flamed with desire in her heart, made its way between her thighs, and she swallowed at the realization that she just had such a dream about him. Her heart drummed faster, but the fire it ignited on her body was yet to go away. She hadn’t realized how much she hungered for him till now, rather, she craved him like a drug– his scent, his voice, his touch.

Everything about that man set her mind and soul on fire.

"I’ll stay alive." She promised in a whisper, "I’ll stay strong till you find me." She closed her eyes for a moment, recollecting his touch– it felt so real. frёeweɓηovel_coɱ

Ivan’s eyes snapped wide as he awoke from his slumbers, and his disoriented mind could think about nothing but the dream he just had. He sat up from the makeshift bed with a racing heart, his eyes scanning the tent he was in as though he was hoping to see someone, but then again, it had only been a dream.

"It felt so... real." He pondered deeply, and his throat bobbed when he could still taste her in his mouth. His heart refused to stop beating, and he could remember; he had entered his tent to lay out the format concerning how they’d storm into the southern Kingdom, but in the process, his eyes felt heavy, it was an inexplicable reaction that he could not resist, no matter how hard he tried to keep himself awake, but after succumbing to the sleep, he saw his little lamb.

"Shit!" He cursed beneath his breath, running his fingers restlessly into his hair.

His heart ached to be with her, and this only made it worse. The intense moment they shared kept popping vividly in his head, and it was doing things to him, things that he shouldn’t be thinking of considering he’s unaware of if truly she’s safe out there.

"Hey Ivan." Tobias opened the tent to find the vampire sitting up, and the death glare that was instantly shot at him made Tobias assume he had committed a grave mistake. He had forgotten how every little thing spiked up Ivan’s anger, but it appeared worse today.

"I just wanted to let you know that in two days we’ll be in the southern Kingdom." He immediately relayed the information before those venom eyes obliterated his existence from the realm.

"Come see for yourself if you don’t believe me." He urged softly, and Ivan’s gaze softened a bit afterwards.

He stepped out of his tent, and before him was a camp unfolded in a secluded clearing. The subtle glow of the morning sun casted a muted radiance on the surroundings, but the air still carried a crisp chill. Scents of fallen leaves and damp earth moved with the wind, and darkened tents, all marked with the emblem of his kingdom, were scattered like sentinels in the clearing.

Herbert, who had sensed Ivan’s presence, quickly moved to hand him a sleek, black, telescope. Standing before the edge with Alistair who was also viewing the landscape, Ivan extended his telescope and directed it towards the southern horizon. Through the lens, the distant landscape came into focus, revealing the enemy’s Kingdom.

The morning maze painted a Mystical aura over the expanse, shrouding details but allowing for a general glimpse. A vast stretch of rolling hills and ancient forest lay between their camp and the distant Kingdom ahead. The silhouette of towering spires and fortified walls emerged, softened by the morning mist.

The landscape was a patchwork of vibrant autumn colors– gold, crimson and a tapestry of greens– a stark contrast to the looming threat that awaited them.

"The hills are rolling in," commented Alistair, but he did not bother to look in the direction of Ivan, "are you sure about what you intend on doing?"

"If it’s my wife we’re talking about, then I don’t need to be sure. I’ll do anything to have her back." He said, but Alistair’s expression remained different. They seemed to have hardened, but before he could bring himself to respond, Ivan’s voice rang out with urgency.

"ALISTAIR WATCH OUT!!"

Was the only thing Alistair’s ears could grasp before he got pushed aside by Ivan. When he turned to see exactly what was happening, the path where he had been standing suddenly exploded... but Ivan never got out of the way.
