Chapter 49: A Dare to Desire
Everett stared longer at Zaiyila.
Zaiyila realized what she had just said and lowered her head. "Is he angry?" she wondered, searching for something to say to smooth the atmosphere.
Everett pulled Zaiyila closer and rested his head on her chest. "My Queen should rest assured, as I promise that I will never have any other women besides you. I won’t get tired of repeating that or assuring you," he murmured.
Zaiyila’s heart started racing. She wasn’t sure what to say, so she remained silent.
Once they reached their destination, Everett carried Zaiyila into the house and found something for her to drink.
"Don’t just eat what you don’t like just to avoid making someone sad. Look—what biscuit did you eat now? Your eyes are already red," Everett scolded, handing her a fruit juice.
Zaiyila accepted the juice and drank it all in one gulp. "I only ate a little. I didn’t eat much," she responded.
Everett sighed. "How are you feeling now?" he inquired.
Zaiyila nodded and looked at Everett with excitement. "Husband, are you a twin?" she asked.
"Huh?" Everett was dumbfounded.
"I think you and Eryx resemble each other and... and looking at him feels like I’m looking at you," Zaiyila explained.
Everett rubbed his forehead. "Curse you, bastard!" he cursed Eryx inwardly. "Maybe my Queen misses me more than I thought—so much that everyone now resembles me in her eyes," he teased.
"That’s not true," Zaiyila blushed. "But—"
"How about we play a game," Everett interjected.
Zaiyila’s eyes sparkled with excitement. "What game? I’m interested!" She immediately forgot about Eryx and focused on the game Everett mentioned.
"It’s Truth or Dare. We’ll spin a bottle, and if the head faces you and the bottom faces me, you’ll ask me ’Truth or Dare.’ I’ll pick one, and you’ll ask me whatever you want—or dare me to do anything," he explained.
Zaiyila thought for a moment, then nodded in understanding. "So I can dare you to do anything and you’ll do it?" she asked.
Everett hummed in response.
"What if you don’t want to do it?" she pressed, raising her brows.
"Ehn," Everett muttered, thinking it over. "Then I’ll have to pay a penalty. But I don’t think there’s anything I won’t be able to do for my Queen..." Before he could finish his sentence, he realized something and looked at Zaiyila, who was smiling like a little devil. "Alright, I put myself into this," he thought.
"Let’s start the game, then. You’re not allowed to go back on your promise," Zaiyila remarked.
Everett could only nod. He was already defeated before the game even started. A bottle appeared in his hand, and he handed it to Zaiyila, asking her to spin it.
Zaiyila happily grabbed the bottle and spun it. The butt faced her, and the head faced Everett.
"Alright, Truth or Dare?" Everett asked, staring at her with a sweet smile.
"Um... I choose Dare," Zaiyila replied excitedly.
"Alright, I dare my Queen to run around the house," he instructed. "I might as well make her do some exercise until she’s tired and falls asleep," he thought.
Zaiyila stood up, ran around the living room once, and sat back down. "I’m done."
"Wait, it’s until I say ’stop’ that you’re supposed to stop, and I said house not the living room" Everett commented.
"You didn’t say that earlier—I didn’t know. Let’s cancel it and play again," she announced, and without waiting for Everett’s response, she spun the bottle again. This time, it was her turn to ask.
Everett’s mouth formed an "O" shape, and he rubbed his forehead.
"Husband, which one do you choose? Truth or Dare? Should I help you choose? I’ll choose—"
"Calm down! Calm down! I’ll choose... Um, I choose Truth," Everett answered quickly.
Zaiyila smiled. "Tell me the truth. Why don’t you want to have sex with me?" she questioned.
"Here we go!" Everett thought. "Why did I come up with this kind of childish game?" he lamented inwardly. "Um... My Queen, it’s not that I don’t want to, but you know, you’re still young. That’s why," he replied, hoping the answer would change her mind.
Zaiyila gave Everett a discontented gaze. "You’re not being honest," she pouted.
Everett sighed. "My Queen, would you believe me if I said it’s for your safety?" He locked eyes with her.
Zaiyila nodded. "Hmm... I get it. It’s because I’m too soft, right? I’ll start going to the gym from now on," she declared.
Everett sighed. "It’s not that—"
"It’s my fault. I make you worry about me all the time while you’re holding back with difficulty. Don’t worry, I’ll definitely become stronger in no time," she declared with determination.
Everett’s mouth twitched. "Where did this conversation lead to?" he thought, and suddenly picked her up. "I think I can’t continue the game. I’m feeling sleepy, and I want my Queen to accompany me," he whispered.
Zaiyila chuckled and rubbed his head.
---
Late at night
Zaiyila was already asleep while Everett, lying beside her, slowly opened his eyes. He stared at her for a long moment to confirm she hadn’t woken up—then vanished.
---
It was dark, but the moonlight illuminated everything. Inside a luxurious house, Eryx sat on a swing, sipping from a glass cup filled with an unknown liquid, his eyes closed. Suddenly, he chuckled.
"You came. Wanna join me?" he remarked, without even opening his eyes.
Everett appeared out of thin air and grabbed him by the collar, lifting him off the swing. "Even if you’re here, do you know you’re not supposed to let me find you?" he growled, gritting his teeth.
Eryx took another sip from his glass and smirked. "What? Are you scared? That I’ll snatch her, or that I’ll implicate you? Rest assured, I’m fine with being the second husband," he taunted.
Everett’s eyes started glowing and his horns appeared. He looked terrifying now, but Eryx continued sipping as if nothing was happening.
"You’re not afraid of death, I assume," Everett growled coldly.
"Ah, what are you saying? Did you forget that if I die, you’ll die too?" Eryx smirked.
Everett threw him across the room, but surprisingly, Eryx appeared back on his swing and continued enjoying his drink.
"Speaking of which, why did you even come to my house?" he questioned nonchalantly.
