Bride of Retribution: Aloof Billionaire's Dominant Game-Chapter 501: Did I owe him from my last life?_3
For Easter, she went to Hart Hodge’s hometown and ate light meals for several days. Now she really needed a big feast, and she felt like she could eat a ton.
"No problem, let’s go." At this time, they could still pick a spot with good lighting. Charlotte Miller grabbed the car keys and left the office with Annie Gray.
Charlotte’s office was located in a prime area, so it wasn’t too far from the buffet restaurant.
She chose the most expensive one. Buffets really are what you pay for, and everything here was incredibly fresh, even the desserts were irresistible to her. 𝑓𝘳𝑒𝑒𝓌𝘦𝘣𝘯ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝑚
There weren’t too many people at this time, and the hotel itself didn’t cram the tables together. Still, as soon as Charlotte walked in, she was amazed by the small mountain of bright red lobsters.
"I’ve been here a few times, and each time I eat so much that I don’t want dinner afterward." It’s never without reason that some people can get along happily; there must be commonalities between them.
Annie and Charlotte indeed had many commonalities, including their good appetites.
Charlotte also loved the food at this buffet. The pan-seared foie gras with apricot almond sauce—she could eat two or three servings. The moment she bit into it, it felt like biting into soft snow. It was so tender with no trace of bloodiness, seared perfectly with a slightly crisp exterior yet incredibly savory and tender inside, pairing perfectly with the apricot sauce.
The two of them joyfully carried large trays, picking out what they liked and sitting by the window to start their lunch.
Aiming to get their money’s worth, they indeed picked quite a lot.
While eating, something felt a bit off, and Charlotte suddenly looked up and saw Joseph Shaw there. She remembered one time Annie was on a blind date, and they ran into each other at a restaurant too.
This felt crazy. Guys like Atlas and Joseph were supposed to be the last people to like buffets, but here they were, coming for a special occasion once and still running into them.
There was a woman next to Joseph, very tall, around 1.75 meters or so, and she was wearing heels, looking almost as tall as Joseph.
This must be Joseph’s fiancée, Violet Carter, a model who has been showcasing abroad, and the only daughter of the Carter family’s fourth generation, known to be showered with affection. It’s said she came back from abroad this time just to marry and had announced she wouldn’t be modeling anymore.
Her figure was still very standard, though she seemed quite thin. Models look great on screen, but seeing them in person, she did seem a bit too thin.
"Behind you, Joseph Shaw is behind you..." Charlotte quietly said in a suppressed voice. Outside of work, the two were just regular girls. In restaurants encountering someone who couldn’t quite be called a boyfriend or a sponsor, how else could you describe it?
"Ignore him." Annie was holding a fork, picking out the lobster meat and eating it in large bites.
Past memories are like shadows, Annie reminded herself not to care.
Joseph had been troubled for days. Today, his family patriarch insisted he accompany Violet Carter shopping, so he reluctantly came out. At lunchtime, he took Violet to eat here because Violet was so picky about food, with a buffet he wouldn’t have to order dishes.
Violet could make herself a bowl of low-calorie salad and munch on leaves, and after the meal, he’d send her back to the Carter family, completing his task.
But he didn’t expect to see Annie here.
She must have blocked him; otherwise, seeing so many missed calls, she didn’t bother replying.
And here he was standing right in front of her, yet she was still so engrossed in her food, as if he was less important than a lobster.
He really was less than a lobster; he realized he had been standing beside Annie for several seconds, and her focus was still on that lobster.
"President Shaw, what brings you here for lunch today?" Charlotte forced a slight smile to greet him, as the atmosphere was indeed quite awkward and uncomfortable.
Why wasn’t he leaving? Charlotte was already feeling like cursing; they just wanted to enjoy a meal.
"Miss Miller also eating here, isn’t Assistant Gray on leave?" Joseph Shaw gave a dismissive snort, his tone clearly full of discontent.
