Chapter 449: 243 Do you have a male companion?

What does it feel like to want to present the entire world to your daughter, to want to take good care of your woman?

Atlas Hallow couldn’t describe it; he just wanted to do everything for her, yet Charlotte Miller was not too willing.

Their battle had already begun.

Atlas Hallow had said he would face her with all his strength, but Charlotte Miller kept worrying that he’d go easy on her.

Amid these chaotic feelings, Charlotte Miller was also entangled with many obscure emotions.

In truth, she was somewhat conflicted inside. On one hand, she wondered if Atlas Hallow truly loved her as he claimed, would he really love her enough to relinquish control of the entire Hallow Clan for her?

On the surface, he didn’t seem like a man who would choose a woman over power.

But at the same time, she felt that if Atlas Hallow really loved her that much, he should respect her choice and face off with her directly in the capital market to fulfill her wish.

Thinking about these things made Charlotte Miller feel incorrigibly fussy, to the extent that she started to somewhat despise herself.

Sitting in the office, Annie Gray had already delivered the invitation to the chamber of commerce because, coincidentally, her official return to the country coincided with the season’s biggest charity auction.

It’s always right to take out some money for charity.

"President Miller, do you have a date?" Annie knew that this charity auction required partners, and since Ethan Baird wasn’t in the country and Rogers hadn’t come, she assumed Atlas Hallow wouldn’t be Charlotte Miller’s choice, so was she going alone?

"No." Charlotte Miller’s response was straightforward as expected.

"Then how about this, we..." Annie thought for a moment and came up with an idea.

As in previous years when Charlotte wasn’t around, Annie had attended on her behalf, so even though Charlotte was back this year, the organizing charity still issued her an invitation.

"That’s a good idea, but wouldn’t I be more suitable wearing men’s clothing than you?" Charlotte smiled; not attending such a charity auction was not an option, as she had to make an appearance at an official event since she had returned.

Annie looked at Charlotte, questioning how she would be more suitable for men’s clothing.

Clearly, she herself was more suitable, but she had to comply, after all. Charlotte was her boss, and she had to listen to her boss, regardless of their close personal friendship.

She also understood that Charlotte was troubled by wearing evening gowns, and wearing a suit that felt more fitting and comfortable.

But an evening suit to attend requires more than casual wear; fortunately, Charlotte said she had an evening suit appropriate for the event, so Annie only needed to prepare her own.

Annie’s suggestion was truly perfect; she couldn’t find a male companion, and dragging some random man from the company wouldn’t be appropriate either.

Annie proposed they accompany each other, one in an evening gown and the other in a suit, appearing more formal. She happened to have a men’s suit she could wear to the event. She once played gender reversal with Rogers at Rogers Family banquets.

The banquet would start at seven in the evening, so she rushed back to the apartment at five to prepare, as being late would be very impolite.

There were many cars on the road, and if she returned after six, she might not make it in time, as even waiting for a traffic light took a long time.

Her phone rang just as she was stopped at a red light, so she answered it.

"I’ll accompany you to the banquet tonight..." Atlas Hallow looked at the guest list, knowing such a banquet occurs annually. It’s prestigious and fills the city’s highest social standing with invitations.

Sure enough, he saw Charlotte’s name on the list, but he was seated at table one, while Charlotte was at table three.

So, he greeted the organizers and had them adjust the seating, having a bit of personal motive as he just wanted to be near her, even if just sitting close by.

"There’s no need," Charlotte’s attitude wasn’t exactly irritable, but it wasn’t gentle either.

"Do you have a date?" A trace of jealousy could be heard in Atlas Hallow’s voice; even across the line, Charlotte could smell the jealousy.

Does she count?

Charlotte chuckled softly, clearly stating, "Yes, I have one... I’m driving and it’s inconvenient to talk on the phone. If there’s nothing important, President Hallow, I’m going to hang up."

After speaking, without waiting for Atlas Hallow to respond, she bluntly ended the call.

Knowing she might not agree to him accompanying her, but she just came back and already had a date? Wasn’t that a bit too fast?

Atlas Hallow stood by the office’s floor-to-ceiling window, holding his phone with a sullen expression.

He wanted to see which man dared accompany Charlotte to the banquet.

Returning to the apartment, Charlotte’s whole heart relaxed, seeing Mia happily eating her dinner.

Mia’s eyes lit up like jewels when she saw Charlotte, raising her hands, indicating she wanted to be held.

Charlotte picked Mia up, planting a kiss on her rosy cheek, then looking at the mush in her bowl, wondering why she was eating that.

"Dr. Clark said Mia’s spleen and stomach are too weak, so these meals have added ingredients that aid digestion. I think Mia’s complexion has improved in the past two days; it’s just that she can’t go outside, the air isn’t good with too many cars." Freya Morgon came over, feeding Mia spoon by spoon, with immense comfort in her eyes.

"Mia, Mommy has a banquet tonight, so I can’t put you to bed. Is it okay if you sleep with Auntie?" She was worried that coming home late would disturb little Mia, so she seriously sought Mia’s opinion.

"Okay..." Mia’s eyes curved into smiles, bits of mush sticking to her mouth, she kissed Charlotte’s face, then giggled softly.

With Mia’s soft lips touching her face, Charlotte’s heart almost melted.

However, she couldn’t hold her any longer, or they’d be late.

Charlotte put Mia back on the sofa and went to the bedroom to change.

This bedroom was where she’d stayed before, when Ava Walker had a bad attitude, and she told Atlas Hallow she didn’t want to stay with the Hallow Family, so he brought her to live here.

Every touching of any familiar furniture here would unwittingly remind her of the past times spent with him.

Back when the recorder hadn’t shown up yet, even though they had minor disputes, he was impossibly domineering, but altogether sweet.

In countless nights, he tirelessly possessed her, opening the door to sensuality, leading her through endless explorations.

A faint blush touched her cheeks, then she walked into the wardrobe, finding the black small suit.

The velvet, soft and fitted, perfectly outlined her impeccable curves.

Matching it with a white silk shirt, she left three buttons undone, presenting a look that was languidly sexy. She had the privilege to be wilful, didn’t she?

In the openness of buttons, her skin glimmered white and translucent like milk pudding, its allure sufficient to draw every man’s gaze.

She didn’t need much makeup, but she picked a bright lipstick, the truest red, more vibrant than flowers, richer than blood.

When Annie saw her, she shook her head, saying, "You’re wearing a suit and still appear more womanly than I do in this dress, what’s that about?"

With resignation, she shrugged, noticing how Charlotte had become radiant over these years.

It felt as though God had taken her away for three years just to recreate an even more beautiful her, reintroducing her to the world.

"Let’s go, my lady." Charlotte smiled, opening the car door, and Annie, in her low-back evening gown, gracefully bent into the car.

The banquet was held at the city’s largest convention center’s main hall because it was the most grandiose annual charity auction, decor beautifully appropriate, white roses and large Siberian Lilies everywhere, below the main stage were eighty tables, each with a number card. This helped ease bidding later.

Such an event naturally couldn’t lack celebrities appearing and supporting, and the red carpet outside the convention center almost became a runway.

Charlotte took Annie’s hand, walking together on the red carpet.

In fact, she preferred to sneak in from the back, but that seemed impolite. As the camera flashes hit her, she instinctively raised her hand to block the light, seeing the giant white diamond on her finger fire up with brilliance, nearly blinding everyone.

Actually, she didn’t plan to wear this ring intentionally; she only wanted to affirm her married status on such an occasion, and this diamond ring spoke volumes.

Holding Annie’s hand, she quickly entered. The spectacle was something she’d never seen before, though surely the reporters were here for the stars, right?

Subconsciously, she touched the ring on her hand, wondering if Atlas Hallow would see it and have a fit, taking it back?
