Bride of Retribution: Aloof Billionaire's Dominant Game-Chapter 214 - 141 Divorced with nothing
"We’re just asking for what we deserve. Ava has been married to you for several years now, shouldn’t we be entitled to it?" Ella Johnson said anxiously, her eyes fixed on Amir, her voice trembling slightly.
So all these years of apparent calmness were just a facade, and the Hallows had long planned to oust them. She was merely the first step.
Whether she drugged Charlotte or not, she would still be kicked out, and the second step would be targeting her daughter.
Atlas Hallow’s schemes run too deep, deceiving both her and Ava all these years.
They thought the video could control the Hallow Family, that it would allow her daughter to live confidently within the Hallows. But what they considered the best life was nothing more than a joke to the Hallows, as Atlas Hallow let them perform their clumsy act, until now, when it was time to settle accounts.
Amir’s narrow eyes were filled with a deep black, devoid of his usual carefree demeanor.
His lips curved slightly, his words carrying a cold detachment laced with sarcasm: "I finally understand where Ava’s blind confidence comes from; like mother, like daughter."
He walked over to the sofa where Atlas sat and sat down as well, looking at Ella Johnson’s shocked and bewildered expression. This mother and daughter were truly detestable to the extreme, foolish yet greedy.
"I don’t oppose going to court, but can you afford legal fees? Do you have a lawyer to represent you? Also, you might not know that I borrowed a large sum from the Hallow Clan a year before last, and there’s a record of it. If I were to repay it, not only would I be left penniless, I’d be in huge debt. If you want to help repay it together, I wouldn’t mind..." Amir shrugged his shoulders, truly appearing as if he couldn’t care less, continuing, "You’re probably curious about how I spent so much money, right? Well, I like gambling and played a few games in Las Vegas, there’s a record of that too."
Amir’s once dark eyes suddenly turned fierce: "So, destroy all the videos in your possession, pack up, and get out."
Over the years, he had truly had enough. Ava, incited by Ella Johnson, became unreasonable, arrogant, and wasteful. Her fall to this state today was truly undeserving of pity; in fact, it might make someone want to rush up and give a few hard kicks.
Brains are always a good thing, but Ella Johnson and Ava seemed to lack them altogether.
It turns out they dug one pit after another. On the surface, the Hallow brothers seemed to have average feelings, but who would have thought they’d orchestrate all this together. Ella Johnson looked at the two men sitting on the sofa, their somewhat similar faces donned indifferent smiles.
"Let me see Ava." Ella Johnson knew there was no point saying anything further; her heart filled with endless desolation.
Years ago, she and her husband devised a scheme for Austin Hallow to drunkenly violate her, but never imagined Flix Hallow would mistakenly kill her husband. She just wanted to find some support for her daughter. At that time, both Hallow brothers were promising individuals, and she didn’t know which kind of man her daughter would like, so she suggested that Ava should choose from the Hallow generation. When it came time for Ava to marry, she couldn’t stand the gossiping servants and chose Amir.
Actually, both she and Ava believed Atlas was fond of Ava and would intervene, but instead, he just watched Ava marry Amir.
Clearly, he treated Ava kindly then, patiently accompanying her, but in the end, wasn’t it all just an act?
One trap after another, until they couldn’t escape even after reaching the end.
"Go up and tell her to obediently sign the divorce papers, otherwise, you can test what I’m capable of." The most dangerous times for the Hallows were over. That video no longer posed the most lethal threat. Although it would be a considerable nuisance, it was just a nuisance. Atlas Hallow’s commanding voice rose in the air, striking fear into those who heard it.
Now, he needed to systematically remove these nuisances. After so many years, he had finally arranged everything perfectly, albeit slowly, rendering Ella Johnson and Ava powerless.
"If you cooperate, I’ll agree to Ava leaving empty-handed. Otherwise, I guarantee you’ll spend the rest of your lives saddled with debt," Amir added one final remark as Ella climbed the stairs, striking her like a heavy blow, freezing her momentarily before she resumed her heavy steps upward.
At Ava’s bedroom door stood two burly men, their black suits barely containing their solid muscles, standing like iron towers on either side of the bedroom door. When Ella entered, they did not stop her, allowing her to open the door and go inside. After she entered, there was the sound of the door being locked.
"Why are you here? Didn’t I tell you to stay hidden?" Ava, sitting by the window sill, looked completely haggard, resembling a flower deprived of oxygen and water, wilting at an alarming rate, her eyes devoid of any light.
She truly was no longer the mighty, opulent second mistress of the Hallow Family.
All along, she believed the initiative lay in their hands, but in reality, they were just being made a spectacle.
Filled with shame, anger, and hatred, yet there was truly nothing she could do now.
"Ava, let’s leave here. Mom will find a way for you to live well again." Ella Johnson’s earlier threat from Amir was terrifyingly daunting; she could imagine the entire Hallow legal team engaged in a lawsuit against them, the so-called loans and gambling debts already fabricated to ensure their voluntary departure and divorce.
"You’ve promised long ago to give me a good life. You promised never to let me end up like you, a servant. You swore I’d be the Hallow matriarch, that I’d have endless wealth. And now?" Ava looked out the window, laughing coldly, not even wanting to glance at Ella Johnson.
"Ava, this time we really have no choice. Amir won’t give us money, not a single penny from the Hallow Family," Ella Johnson anxiously walked forward to embrace Ava, looking at her daughter’s vacant face. "We’ll think of another way once we’re out of here."
"If we leave, there will truly be no way back. Why should I still listen to you? Why should I still listen to you..." Ava suddenly stood up, fiercely pushing Ella Johnson away, "This certainly isn’t the end. I won’t leave the Hallow Family."
Even if she had to go, she’d have to see the Hallow Family fall apart for her to leave willingly.
Her face contorted, looking quite frightening, not just her face, even her voice turned sinister: "Go tell them, I’m not divorcing. If they insist, then go to court first and file for divorce. I’ll wait for mediation."
If this lawsuit dragged on, it might take several months, and by then Charlotte’s belly should visibly start growing, right?
Ella Johnson looked at her daughter as if she didn’t recognize her anymore, collapsing onto the carpet as if gazing at a stranger.
Charlotte still felt exhausted. She didn’t know why she felt as if all her strength had been drained, leaving her weak and limp.
Annoying Atlas Hallow insisted on taking her hiking today, and now she seemed unable to get up.
Her stomach also felt a bit uneasy. She doubted she ate something unhealthy, though, as anything delivered here was the finest and carefully selected, making such a possibility unlikely.
The room had its heater on, but Charlotte still felt somewhat cold. She took a large cashmere shawl, wrapped herself, and walked barefoot on the carpet to pick up her phone, wondering who could be calling with the happy ringtone.
Glancing at the number, it was Ethan Baird calling. She swiped the phone screen and answered, "Ethan, I was just about to call you. Have you finished reading the documents?" Just as she finished asking, she felt a wave of dizziness, collapsing weakly onto the sofa. Her arm struck the vase on the coffee table, and as it fell onto the carpet, it landed right on her foot.
"What’s wrong, sweetheart?" Ethan Baird heard Charlotte’s soft yelp over the phone, causing his heart to leap. What could have happened?
Charlotte sat on the sofa, her head spinning even more violently. Her foot had been smashed by the heavy crystal vase, as if it were about to break, the pain piercing through her.
"I hit my foot, I got hit by the vase." Charlotte looked at the top of her foot and her ankle, which seemed to have already reddened, and expected it to swell soon, it hurt extraordinarily.
"How could you be so careless, is Atlas Hallow with you?" This injury was no small matter; if it fractured any bones, it would be troublesome, necessitating a hospital check-up immediately.
"He left for some matters; I’m home alone." Charlotte gritted her teeth to bear the pain, saying she truly feared pain and was particularly sensitive to it, wanting to rub it but recoiling in more pain with each touch.
"I’ll come and get you. Don’t move around; we need to get it checked at the hospital." Ethan Baird said while rapidly driving to Charlotte’s apartment.
