Bought For A Baby, Kept For A Lifetime-Chapter 97: Yes, You.
"Yes, you." Andrew firmly said, his handsome face showing composure as he faced her.
"But... I can’t model for an ad, I have no idea how, ads need to be shot with professional models."
"You’re right, ads need professionals, yet I found you in the spotlight wearing horrible looking clothes and makeup." He spoke with sarcasm lacing his dark voice.
Anne looked down guiltily, "I only agreed because I had no choice. Besides, they weren’t going to show my face, I was only supposed to be a double."
The man glaced down at his watch, "Well you still don’t have a choice. The day is almost over and we have no model, go get ready."
Anne couldn’t begin to believe he was actually serious about making her model for the ad shoot.
How could she possibly do it when it wasn’t her job.
"But..."
"If you could stand in as a double you can do the main job. If you don’t know why SE is currently the biggest company in this country then listen; we have never once failed to deliver on anything, let the world crash and burn but Sterling Enterprises will still stand at the very top, failure and delays are never in our vocabulary. Go get ready for the shoot or leave knowing you left your job halfway but beware, because I do not forgive anyone who fails at their job. This shoot was your responsibility, see it through."
Anne watched the man’s back as he walked away after saying those words. She continued to look conflicted.
Just then, Clara rushed in. 𝘧𝑟𝑒𝑒𝘸𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝓁.𝘤𝘰𝓂
"I’m so sorry I’m late, I came as soon as I can. What’s going on?"
By now, the internet and everyone in Verizon with a network connection could already see the bustling news online.
In the beginning there was a great buzz about a model who looked like they had gone through heavy surgeries to alter their appearance surging online however not too long after, a scandal about Valeria Sage came up as well.
Many witnessed how she was dragged out of the building by bodyguards and how she had howled at them like a crazy woman before humiliating herself by tearing up her own dress when she stepped on it leaving her half nude in front of many people’s eyes.
Though no one knew the truth of what happened inside the building, many people began to reveal Valeria’s true character online with proof of them having worked under her before.
Instead of sympathy, Valeria received crazy criticism from people.
When Anne saw Clara she went on to hurriedly explain everything to her.
"I’ve never modeled and I don’t think I can do it, can’t we find someone else to do it?"
Clara seemed to ponder for a long time, her expression unreadable as she heard everything Anne said. After a while she began,
"If Andrew tells you to do it, then you just have to. He doesn’t like it when people refuse him, it’s just a short ad, it’s nothing huge, go ahead and do it."
That was precisely why Clara encouraged Anne to do it. It was just a small ad, nothing huge that would alter her destiny.
Clara didn’t let Anne refuse, she was pulled away by all the stylists without being allowed to say something else.
When Anne entered the changing room with the stylists, Clara stood alone, glancing towards the entrance. Just now she’d seen Valeria make a spectacle of herself outside, many people surrounded her laughing as she bellowed insanely.
Clara’s lips twisted in disdain.
"Impatient fool, look what you did to yourself." She softly muttered to herself, a rare look of disgust showing on her gorgeous face before she quickly washed off the expression when someone passing by greeted her.
Cynthia had rushed over to the scene with Andrew, she was the one who’d seen the chaos online and showed Andrew while they were driving to the shoot, she’d also witnessed how his face had gone dark and when he’d called the bodyguards.
She’d known right from then he would throw everyone out, but she didn’t expect he’d expel the model herself. Though kicking the model out of the shoot before it’s completion was a breech of contract, a small compensation fee wasn’t something SE couldn’t fish out.
However, what was very strange to her was the fact that her boss had called in many famous stylists and photographers only to make that girl the model.
He could contact any agency at this moment and they would send in ten, no a hundred models if he asked for them, but him choosing that girl was without a doubt a deliberate action.
And it was a choice made for a calculated reason.
Now that she thought about it, could it be...?
Cynthia looked at her boss who was discussing something over the phone, with astonishment evident on her face.
Was he trying to clean that girl’s tarnished reputation by doing this?
Many had showered insults mercilessly on Anne online, though no one would be able to recognize the real her with the version they’d shown online they still knew her name and such an unclean reputation could cause trouble for her in the future. However if the world were to see her for who she really was, everyone who threw an insult to her would be too ashamed to say another word.
But her boss thinking about someone else’s matter this much...was a little strange to digest.
Would he really go to such a length for that girl?
Cynthia had suspected...no, she’d known, after that day he’d shown a rare smile to the girl, she’d known that girl was different to her boss.
She’d found it so impossible that she’d taken a picture and shared it to the whole company.
Now she confirmed without a doubt, that girl was indeed special to her boss, and she would bet a year’s salary that tomorrow at the anniversary event he would show up with no one else but her.
Cynthia sighed to herself.
It was true that she’d also harbored a tiny impossible illusion of a fairytale office romance, the classic story of the boss falling for the girl who worked with him and followed him everywhere.
When she’d gotten accepted to work for Andrew Sterling, she had harbored that thought momentarily until she met him and came face to face with a man who never smiled, a man whose face was as rigid and unmovable as his heart.
Someone had managed to eventually move him.
That quiet employee with light brown hair.
Cynthia didn’t even know she still hadn’t let go of that fairytale until she pictured herself going to the grand anniversary event by his side.
She had never seen any women around him, if he had no one to bring, he might want to bring his secretary right?
But a girl had moved him, and though it was hard to believe, it was evident, especially when she’d heard him say,
’If she fed you poison you should have swallowed it quietly.’
Was that girl that important in his eyes?
The shoot proceeded without at hitches afterwards, in two hours it was over.
As Cynthia followed her boss out of the hotel, she quietly studied his every movement regretfully.
He had a heart after all.
....
Within a pristine looking bedroom decorated with a soft and coquettish interior style.
Clara sat in front of her computer, her fair face suddenly turning ugly as she suddenly gripped the edge of the table, her fingers trembling as she held in her emotions.
Years of building herself as a person had formed Clara’s strong endurance and composure, years and years of grooming herself into the idyllic soft untouchable beauty that men desired but couldn’t have.
She had never encountered a situation that forced her to lose her cool, nor had she ever thought she’d fight a battle she’d lose because she never fought her own battles. The upside of being idolized was the open willingness others would have to fight on your behalf.
To others she was too soft, even without her showing displeasure or saying a word they would stand up to eradicate her enemies, and for people who proved a bit difficult to push back, she would employ the hands of someone else who wanted the same thing she did, and that person would take out her enemy without even realizing they’d fought for her.
Valeria had been that very person. Someone to fight her enemy because they shared a similar interest.
Andrew Sterling.
But Valeria was too hot headed, too arrogant, instead of winning she fell into a grave she dug herself.
Just then, Clara’s phone buzzed.
She snatched her phone off the table and began to swipe, opening up a file that was just sent to her.
It was the full video of the ad just shot, the editor forwarding an email asking her for certain changes that should be made.
When Clara played the video, staring at the fair clean face of the girl playing the model, the darkness in her eyes became even more intense.
Without replying to the email, she tossed everything on the table to the floor in a fit of fury.
