Bought For A Baby, Kept For A Lifetime-Chapter 267: Homewrecker
Anne stood face to face with Clara, seeing the quiet challenge in the latter’s glimmering eyes.
"Thanks for your concern Clara, but I’m more concerned about you." Anne said, by the time she had come close, the quiet gossips of the women had lessened significantly.
Clara frowned slightly, this wasn’t how she expected Anne to react. The words she expected Anne to say were entirely different, and she couldn’t understand how Anne could always maintain to keep her cool even after such blatant provocation.
"What do you mean?" Clara struggled to continue holding up her calm facade just because she was extremely surprised at Anne’s reaction of talking so calmly.
Anne moved closer and carefully placed her hand on Clara’s shoulder. Just as Clara had played the part of a loving and supportive friend, Anne put on the same facade.
No one had ever challenged Clara in her own way before, she played her games like an award winning actress and people never usually saw through her. When she noticed how Anne was doing the same, putting on a facade despite the fact that she had been trying to embarrass Anne, it shocked her.
"Actually I’m worried about you. I don’t know why you got married to Gabriel Sterling instead, as your friend, I know the man in your heart has always been Andrew."
Clara stiffened her body went on to tremble slightly as if she had been shocked by a bolt of electricity.
"What are you talking about?" She immediately looked panicked as if whatever Anne was saying, she didn’t want others to hear about it.
Anne however wouldn’t be stopped.
"Oh you don’t have to be ashamed of it, love is pure and beautiful and you should be proud of falling in love. Your heart has always belonged to Andrew Sterling, you’ve loved him for so long, you’ve been waiting for him to propose to you, but he...he got married to someone else."
All the ladies who had been listening to Clara seemed to have heard something juicy, they exchanged glances as if they wanted to say something about this topic but they were keeping the interesting conversation for when the person in question wasn’t there, they couldn’t fully talk about it in front of Clara but they were now very interested in what Anne was saying.
"Stop talking nonsense Anne!" Clara gritted the words out, she didn’t want to lose her cool in front of these women. One slip up and the whole company would hear about her actions, not to mention if she broke out of character they would definitely begin to call her a hypocrite, so after blurting those words uncontrollably at first, she quickly composed herself.
"I’m grateful for your concern Anne, but Andrew and I were only friends and..."
"Clara, don’t do this to yourself. Even if you deny your feelings to yourself they’ll still be there. I know your feelings for him are still there and I know how much you still want him, I was there a few days ago when you went into Andrew’s office determined to make him yours. Your love for him was so strong you were ready to give your whole body to him. Isn’t that why you took off all your underwear and put it in your bag that day? And you even..."
"That’s enough!" Clara bellowed frightening the women next to her. They looked at Clara as if they had seen a ghost with both the mixture of shock at everything Anne said and at how Clara reacted to it.
That could only mean that it’s true. She had actually lowered herself to going to seduce Andrew because she had feelings for him but he got married to someone else?
And here she was a few seconds ago trying to paint him as a man who married a lacking woman just to gain the power to become CEO but in reality she was just feeling bitter that he didn’t choose her.
How pathetic was that?
A small smile hung on Anne’s lips.
"Like I said Clara, you have nothing to be ashamed of from loving someone. And I know how much you love Andrew to the point that you married his brother since you couldn’t have him anymore just to continue sticking in his life and family like glue, my heart goes out to you Clara really. And if you ever need anything, you can always come to me, no matter how little it is."
Throughout the time Anne was talking, Clara continuously glared at her. She had lost her cool once and she didn’t want to do it again so she had to keep it all buried on the inside while secretly clenching her fist in fury till her knuckles turned white and her clenched fist tremble from the force.
Anne shot her own words back to her adding on a very sweet and friendly smile before turning around to walk away.
The women looked at each other before chuckling hypocritically then made a quick excuse and left the spot they were standing on with Clara, however they hadn’t even walked too far away before they started gossiping.
"Oh my gosh! I didn’t know Clara could be such a vixen! She went to the CEOs office without her underwear just to seduce him? Disgusting!"
"See how she was showing off her diamond ring a while ago? I was almost getting jealous, turns out she only married him just to be close to his brother? That’s so low! What does she plan to do, seduce him while his wife isn’t looking?"
"So Clara was this type of woman all along, I thought she was pure and graceful, I used to look up to her."
"I can never see a vixen of a woman as my idol, someone who is ready to ruin other people’s marriages by seducing another woman’s husband? I can’t stand those type of women."
"I will never look up to a homewrecker like her ever again!"
"Hey, Betty would love to hear this, let’s go tell her all about it."
Clara stood seething, in the end she couldn’t take the anger anymore that she whipped out her phone and called someone.
"Do it now!"
"Now?" The thick male voice over the phone asked.
"Yes, now!"
"But I thought the plan was..."
"I don’t care what the plan was, I can’t stand that bitch anymore. I don’t want to wait any longer, so get it done."
"Y...yes ma’am."
