Bought For A Baby, Kept For A Lifetime-Chapter 263: A Deadly Witch
Clara stopped right in front of the sofa, then leaned down till her face was just inches away from his own, while her palms rested on either side on his head caging him on the sofa. In this position, her cleavage was openly revealed to his gaze, a view he unabashedly enjoyed.
"I came here because I need your help, don’t tell me you’re going to turn me down." She spoke in a sultry voice.
Just as Clara knew how to pull a man in with a cute innocent facade, she also knew how to use her assets to draw in a man yet deny him of it entirely.
As she said those words, she pulled back standing up to walk back to sit on the sofa across from his then crossed her leg.
Gabriel threw his head back and laughed loudly.
"Let me guess, it’s about my brother isn’t it? Just what is it about ladies and getting obsessed with Andrew, he’s like a fucking rock, what’s so attractive about that?"
"Even if I explained it to you, I doubt you would understand why he is so desirable."
"Oh really? Try me, I’m genuinely curious to know." He said, keeping his chin on his fist while looking straight at her waiting for an answer.
"Well, first of all he doesn’t spend his time locked up in a room screwing any random woman his eyes fall on." Clara said, a little bit of irritation she felt for Gabriel and his behavior leaked through.
Gabriel threw his head back and laughed, not at all taking offence at her backhanded insult.
"Well, should we say I’m a man and he isn’t? Every man is drawn to a beautiful flower, just like I’m drawn to the one sitting right in front of me right now." He said flirtatiously making Clara roll her eyes again.
"Will you help me or not?" She snapped impatiently.
"It depends on what you need help with." Gabriel said turning serious.
"You should know what I want already. I want Andrew!" She said with a thickly determined voice like someone who would stop at nothing to possess the man.
"No surprise, but I hate to be the one to break it to you. You can’t have Andrew, he’s taken." Gabriel said nonchalantly. His demeanor had changed now, he looked somewhat irritated at being reminded of the person in Andrew’s life right now.
As expected, Clara stiffened as she heard that. She lost the composure she had shown since coming into the room.
"What do you mean he’s taken? The whole world knows Andrew doesn’t have a girlfriend because he hasn’t liked a woman yet in his whole life."
Gabriel scoffed, "Well isn’t that the misconception of the century? He doesn’t just like a woman, the bastard fell in love."
A vicious looked flashed by Clara’s eyes.
"I thought he might have grown feelings, but I never thought he even made her his girlfriend." She muttered softly to herself.
"Girlfriend? Who said anything about a girlfriend?" As Gabriel asked this, a light of hope shone in Clara’s eyes.
"She’s not his girlfriend yet?"
From her reaction, Gabriel came to know that Clara knew who was in Andrew’s life, but she didn’t know everything. A sadistic urge suddenly overtook him and he smirked before announcing to her.
"Oh no, she isn’t his girlfriend, he married her. Annelise Thompson is his wife, and now that he’s CEO I guess she’s even more superior to you right now, she’s the CEOs wife, she could ruin you or get rid of you from the whole company if she wants to. If she knows you have eyes on Andrew, all she has to do is whisper sweetly in his ears and you’re gone like that."
Clara’s whole body was wracked with a shiver, she couldn’t regain her composure. She remained seated in the same place, her face plastered with disbelief. It took a long time before she regained herself and began to shake her head repeatedly.
"No, that’s not possible. Do you know how influential Andrew Sterling is? If he was doing something big as getting married, the whole world will attend, he knows people from far and wide, his wedding will be the biggest event in the whole of..." Clara was ranting on and on when Gabriel’s hysterical laughter cut her off as if everything she was saying and her reaction was funny to him.
Clara didn’t want to believe it, she refused to believe it.
Andrew couldn’t be married, and most definitely not to Anne who she hated so deeply.
How could Andrew marry someone else when she had imagined herself being married to him countless times? She had anticipated being the bride on that day and the whole world would be there to witness as she officially becomes his wife.
Gabriel’s laughter was irritating her and cutting into her thoughts so Clara lost her cool and grabbed a vase then shattered it, that made Gabriel’s laughter stop.
"What the fuck...have you lost your fucking mind?"
"Yes I’ve lost it! How dare you lie to me?"
Gabriel rolled his eyes at her, he hated obsessive women and this one right here was beyond obsessed with Andrew and anyone could see it.
"If you don’t want to believe then don’t, but know that Anne is pregnant right now and the father of that child is none other than Andrew."
Clara stiffened at this moment, she remained stuck like a lost statue for a long time before slowly getting up, like a ghost, she walked out of Gabriel’s suite and he shrugged to himself letting her leave. When she reached outside, Clara staggered and almost fell but supported herself with the wall.
If Gabriel was lying, he couldn’t possibly know that Anne was pregnant right now. So it was true... Anne was indeed Andrew’s wife.
How could this be...?
How could the child she’s carrying be Andrew’s? It didn’t make sense.
But Clara remembered when she started to notice that Andrew looked at Anne different and realized...
So it started since then?
Clara shivered and slid to the floor hopelessly.
She felt a sharp pain in her chest and it was so unbearable she let out a loud scream. Her scream echoed and hit the walls bouncing back to her but no one was there to see her losing it.
No, she couldn’t accept this.
She refused to accept this.
’Whatever it takes...’
She recalled her mother’s words and determination shone in her eyes again and she pushed herself up before rushing back into Gabriel’s room.
"Hmm, you came back?" Gabriel tilted his head wondering if she was still sane because she looked a little disturbed right now.
"Marry me." She said urgently to Gabriel who was flabbergasted.
"What?" Gabriel almost thought that he had lost his hearing or there was something wrong with the way he comprehend words because he almost believed he heard her ask him to marry her just now.
"I want you to marry me." She said again confirming what he thought he heard wrong.
Gabriel scoffed in disbelief and Clara quickly added.
"If you marry me, I’ll give you anything you want. I have a plan and I’ll make sure Andrew is mine, help me and I’ll help you in return."
As Gabriel heard this, a seriously thoughtful look suddenly settled on his face.
If he were to be honest, there was something he wanted too, but that thing he wanted he had lost it even before he got a chance to pursue it. If he could get that chance all over again right now, If he could get Anne...
He raised his head to meet Clara’s determined gaze,
"If you’re sure you can give me what I want then yes, I’ll marry you."
And that was how their deal had been made. Their plan was a slow journey that Clara intended to unravel perfectly without making a single mistake.
Seeing Anne walking away after her fake apology didn’t work, Clara recalled all this and hatred burned in her heart anew that she didn’t realize when she scrapped the plan of playing a changed woman as she said to Anne,
"I see you’re arrogant now. Why, because you’re the wife of Andrew Sterling?"
Anne suddenly stopped walking upon hearing what Clara said.
So she was right, the snake truly couldn’t change overnight.
Slowly, she turned to Clara’s direction, seeing a sly smirk on her face.
Anne immediately felt a strangely cool premonition run coldly down her spine.
She felt a strange fear just from looking in Clara’s eyes in this moment.
Why did she feel like she was staring into the eyes of a deadly witch?
