Bought For A Baby, Kept For A Lifetime-Chapter 193: If You Remember The Deal...
Andrew was currently in a late night meeting at work schedule for nine PM after work hours. The projector was currently showing a few sliding images about an innovatively fresh and futuristic marketing plan which was being analyzed by the blonde haired swiss man speaking in fluent German. All the people present in the meeting room were executive members of the company, hence the German language was something everyone present at the meeting understood.
These types of meetings were something Andrew took pleasure in attending as it called for high mental expertise and quick thinking to break down the marketing plans into future actionable steps for the company’s benefits.
Many in the meeting room would usually look forward to his insights, the marketing plans being introduced would have usually been from strict researching worldwide however it would usually only take Andrew a few minutes to break them down in a way that others wouldn’t have thought about. Hence when the swiss man was done speaking, everyone looked to Andrew for his insights, however the man in question seemed far away.
His dark eyes seemingly staring at nothing at all, his handsome lips had a little arc at the side, raised with something tinged with amusement.
It was evident he was currently thinking about something. This expression caused surprised looks to be exchanged between everyone present. Even the swiss man who’d been explaining the researched theories a while ago had to take off his round glasses to look thinking his glasses were showing an illusion of an expression which wasn’t on Andrew’s face, but the reality was the exact same as what his glasses had shown.
The man, the giant in the room seemed to have a smile playing on his lips as his fingers rested on his chin somewhat thoughtfully.
Everyone exchanged a look of bewilderment.
Andrew’s mind was captured in what happened earlier while Anne had been in his office.
It had taken him a lot less than a minute to find the file she was looking for and send it to her department, a job which wasn’t his own but his secretary’s however, he didn’t mind doing it at that moment.
"It’s around lunch break, have you eaten?" He had asked her conversationally deliberately withholding the fact that he’d already sent the file she came to ask for.
"I have to return to work immediately, I’ll eat a little later."
At the time he had not been satisfied with her delaying her meals, hence he’d picked up his phone and installed an instant food delivery app, after browsing through the menu for a long time not knowing what she wanted to eat he placed his phone in front of her.
"Pick something you want."
She had glanced down at the phone screen and looked up at him with slightly wide eyes.
"They deliver in a few minutes, it won’t take long." He had said to her thinking that was what she had in mind as she hesitated.
"No, that’s not what I...I mean, thank you but there’s no need. I just need the file and I’ll be going back to work."
He’d leaned his back against his seat, his arms crossed over his chest.
"And I’m telling you to pick something you want to eat first."
"I have a lot of work to do, I don’t have the time."
It was something he understood clearly, he used to be like that in the past, would rather stay in his work than worry about what to eat. He seemed to have noticed she tended to do that a lot, skip meals while prioritizing other things. Though he tended to do the same, he just couldn’t bring himself to agree with her on it, he hated that she didn’t put herself first. 𝗳𝐫𝚎𝗲𝚠𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝘃𝚎𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝗺
Since she was adamantly refusing to pick something on her own, he took his phone back scrolling through the options himself, in the end he ordered one of almost everything on the menu. If there was anything she didn’t like eating or was allergic to he would just toss it.
"The file...?" Her voice interrupted the momentary silence.
"Hmm, after you’re done with lunch."
"What? But I need the file right now."
He shifted his gaze from the screen in her direction, "Okay."
Despite him saying a word of agreement, she didn’t see him sending the file she needed so she gave him a questioning look.
"Immediately you’re done eating."
Anne opened her mouth to say something but felt like it was of no use, so she changed her mind.
"Nevermind." She said and got on her feet hurrying out of the office.
"If you don’t eat here I’ll just have to make the staff send the food right to your office."
What he said did not make her stop walking at first until the words sank in. If he sent the food to her office the employees would see and wouldn’t they jump to conclusions again? Earlier the looks they gave her was filled with suspicion.
"You shouldn’t do things that’ll make people suspect our relationship, earlier you shouldn’t have come to talk to me in front of everyone. If you have something to tell me, it can wait till we go back to the manor." She didn’t turn around as she said these words to him.
"If you remember the deal correctly it stated that others are not supposed to know about our relationship, because it’s a marriage that is destined to end so I’d appreciate it if you didn’t do all these things for me. I’ll have my meals at my own time when it’s convenient for me."
After saying what was on her mind she made to leave but only halted when his voice reached her,
"And you must be forgetting that when I want to do something, nothing and no one can stop me from doing it. If I want the whole world to know that you’re my wife, I will very well do so. I signed a damned contract to marry you but that doesn’t change the fact that you’re mine!" His every word dropped with a hard tone and as they sunk in, Anne stiffened.
... doesn’t change the fact that you’re mine...’ the words seemed to echo in her mind.
