Chapter 166: Greatest Wish

"Boss, are you sure I don’t need to go capture that Hastings lady? I could give her a taste of her medicine and even more. The mistress of the Sterling family isn’t someone anyone can mess with and go scot free, she should learn that."

It was already dark outside by the time Andrew left the dome like building. The steady night wind was getting colder.

Something flashed through Andrew’s stormy dark eyes as he heard what Gavin said,

"Don’t bother. It’s not your battle to fight, you’ve done your own part."

Andrew started towards his car but just as he was about to get in, the door held open for him by a guard, he froze as if struck by a sudden thought.

"Gavin." He called and the latter instantly lit up after looking slightly disappointed because he’d been asked to release the girl and her father, on top of that he’d been stopped from punishing the main culprit. He knew it meant his boss had something planned in mind, but the thrill of punishing people had been snatched from him.

Gavin jogged up to Andrew hastily.

"Yes boss."

He noticed how Andrew’s expression looked uncertain, it was rare to see him hesitate to speak his mind when he always confidently delivered sharp words without holding back.

"Is something wrong boss?"

"If you’ve upset someone with something you once said, and then out of nowhere you want to fulfill their greatest wish because that makes you stop thinking back to how you hurt them, how would you find out what their greatest wish is, do you just ask them?" He spoke the words in one breath, those type of words sounding so foreign coming out from him and even anyone who didn’t know him at all would see that.

Despite him asking Gavin these questions, he noticed he got no response from the latter but silence, which made Andrew raise his sideways gaze to see why Gavin was so quiet, however he ended up seeing a stunned look on the latter’s face.

Gavin’s mouth had fallen open, he stared at Andrew with wide open eyes without blinking.

The script of his boss’s life seemed to be changing so rapidly, Gavin didn’t think he could keep up.

First it was marriage, sudden as it was Gavin had accepted that perhaps his boss had wanted to put a plot twist to his predictable life’s direction. Gavin had envisioned what life would be like for a man like his boss, no emotions, no seeking love or feeble affections from the opposite sex, he would grow even more powerful and in a few years dominate the underworld.

Gavin had seen power, dominance and greatness in his boss’s future but no marriage, but of course his boss had suddenly gotten married and it had shocked Gavin but then again the boss could do whatever he wanted.

In honesty Gavin had suspected that something inside his boss was changing on that wedding night, and seeing another change in his boss made him even more shocked right now.

"What?" Andrew’s brows drew together as he noticed that it wasn’t only Gavin who had this look on his face but the burly guard who’d held his car door open.

"You...feel bad after offending someone?" Was the question that slipped out of Gavin’s mouth.

This was becoming so interesting, shocking as it was. Though Gavin hadn’t predicted this change in his master, he was actually liking it.

Andrew’s expression suddenly hardened.

"Never mind." He stepped into the car yanking the door shut with a thud and decisively started the car when Gavin came back to his senses.

"No, wait boss." Gavin began rapidly knocking on the car window but his boss didn’t stop, the car drove away and Gavin had to quickly jump backwards in order not to be pulled away by the car’s sudden motion.

Gavin watched the car until it disappeared with an amusedly interested grin on his face.

"This is interesting... isn’t this interesting?" He laughed patting the guard on the chest to ask for his opinion but the guard, even if he shared in Gavin’s amusement didn’t show it because they were trained to be perfectly stoic and unfeeling. Nevertheless, Gavin laughed heartily to himself before digging for his phone in his pocket to send a text to his boss.

"You asked for my advice boss, I’ll certainly give it to you even if you left in anger." He muttered to himself as he started typing on his phone.

[Boss, you asked that question for mistress right? Here’s what I think, if you said something to offend mistress, the best way to rectify it is by apologizing...]

As he wrote that, Gavin stopped suddenly. Who was he sending this to, it was his boss right?

He instantly began to delete the last few words he wrote about apologizing, he’d forgotten, his boss didn’t know how to apologize to anyone. Gavin doubted he would even if it came to his wife so he changed the words, but if only Gavin knew...

The text Gavin sent ended up going like this,

[Boss, you asked that question for mistress right? Here’s what I think, if you said something to offend mistress, the best way to rectify it is by making a gesture that signifies peace. Like eating with her, making small talk, asking her opinion about something, it shows that you want peace, no more hostility. And about finding out what she wants the most, you don’t have to ask her, you could look for clues, like a diary, women love to write their greatest wishes down somewhere. Or alternatively, if this woman is an important person to you, you’d know what she wants most by looking deep in yourself what she truly wants will most likely be something you’ve kept in your memories, and then fulfill that wish for her as a surprise, it would leave an even bigger impact than asking directly. Boss, when it comes to women you have to be patient and learn to give in even if you don’t feel like giving in. Don’t say things on an impulse otherwise you’ll create unnecessary problems, if you have any other questions, you can contact me, I’ll always be available.]

Gavin sent the text wishing that he could be there to watch if the boss decided to take his advice and actually do all the things he’d asked him to do.

However thinking about it, Gavin felt it was highly unlikely. Maybe boss would just look at his text and delete it angrily without taking his advice, who knows.

A ding sounded inside the car indicating a incoming text message.

Driving with one hand he picked up his phone with the other, his eyes skimming rapidly over the message before he dropped aside the phone and focused on driving.

The drive to the Black Thorn Manor wasn’t too long, in about fifteen minutes Andrew’s car had driven through the gates.

The butler immediately came to greet him.

"Welcome home master."

"Is she back?" He found himself asking first immediately he stepped down from the car.

Butler Jones smiled discreetly.

"Yes master, mistress has been back for a while now."

The butler was following him as he decisively strode inside.

"Have the staff prepare dinner, inform her to come down when they’re done."

"Will you be having dinner as well master?" The butler asked.

"Yes."

Andrew’s casual reply made butler Jones stop in his tracks, staring up at Andrew’s back with a hint of surprise.

He wanted to have dinner together with the mistress?
