Chapter 134: Special Night

"Congratulations on your wedding master."

The man stood at the rooftop, the cold wind of the night blew against him fiercely. A dark brown liquid currently sat in the glass he sipped from, his lips a slightly dark pink color. As the glass touched his lips however, he stiffened as if the cold had seeped through his bones, but reality, it was a strange feeling of warmth swelling his heart.

"It’s a very special night for you master. The wedding night, I’m sure the new mistress must be waiting for you right now." Gavin spoke once more since his earlier words of congratulations had been ignored.

It wasn’t an unusual occurrence for his boss to be so cold and silent, and many times Gavin had felt like he was talking to himself but it didn’t matter, as long as the master was listening.

Gavin had been unaware about the fact that today was his master’s wedding, he’d come here tonight to report something very important to the man only to find new maids and staff in the manor that used to be quiet with only about two maids and a butler.

Curious, he’d inquired what was going on from the butler and the latter gladly announced that the manor now has a mistress.

A mistress? Gavin had thought. That could only happen if his master had gotten married, and he knew, the master and marriage were miles apart.

Just when his disbelief was mounting, butler Jones actually confirmed that they indeed had a new mistress and the master had gotten married today.

Gavin had stood shocked for a long time before deciding to go confront his master.

First of all, marriage? So suddenly?

He knew with all certainty that Andrew would never want to get married, so what had happened.

But then again if his master had decided to change his mind about marriage and took a wife, why wasn’t he invited or even informed about it? 𝗳𝐫𝚎𝗲𝚠𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝘃𝚎𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝗺

He’d been with Andrew for years now, was he truly that unimportant in his master’s life?

Gavin had asked the butler where to find Andrew and the latter had sent him up to the rooftop where he met that tall man whose aura bordered on deadly, every word of displeasure vanished from Gavin’s mind, instead he began to spew words of congratulations.

"What is so special about tonight?" The voice that answered him was tinged with darkness, low and gravely with a tinge of roughness.

Gavin was slightly taken aback. He’d been here for a while, enduring his master’s silence and the latter finally broke the silence not to accept the words of congratulations he’d given but to actually ask him such a basic question?

Who wouldn’t know what was special about a night like this?

"Well, because it’s the wedding night. All around the world, everyone knows the wedding night is the most special for a newly married couple. Many brides dream of this night, especially the old fashioned ones. Even the women who claim to be modern and open minded still can’t resist the emotions that come with a night like this. I don’t do a lot of mushy emotional stuff but I know these things." Gavin replied proudly.

"Every bride looks forward to this night?" Came another question.

The man asking the question looked indifferent gazing out to the world from this very tall height, but Gavin could tell he was asking these questions for a reason.

Sigh, the master seemed to have no clue about people and emotions, even normal things like marriage and wedding nights. Did he need to start educating such a grown man?

Of course Gavin only dared to have these thoughts internally, if he’d uttered them out loud, heavens only knew the kind of hell his master would plunge him into.

"Of course, every bride eagerly waits for this night. Even in arranged marriages where the relationship was forced by the parents and the couple don’t really know each other deeply, this night is still an absolute necessity. There are cultures in the world that even have superstitions and myths about the wedding night. I know some that claim the level of happiness a bride feels on her wedding night determines how happy she’ll be for the rest of her life. If a bride feels sad and miserable on her wedding night, then her whole life will be sad and miserable, if a bride is extremely happy on a wedding night, then that sets her up for a lifetime of happiness. Of course all those are superstitions and only a number of people believe in them."

Even after giving such a lengthy explanation, Gavin got no reply. He gazed into Andrew’s profile quietly, noticing the latter seemed to quietly be listening judging by the slight narrowing of his eyes, Gavin decided to continue.

"Then after the wedding night, comes something special. You know master, I’m starting to think these things were invented at the beginning of time by women, because what man would put together all this mushy stuff after a marriage, right? In my opinion, I think men would rather just get on with the damn wedding and live their lives from then on, don’t you think so master?"

Crickets could be heard in the distance, even as Gavin waited a few seconds expectantly, he received no reply.

Well, that happened. So much for trying to carry on a conversation.

In any case, Andrew’s silence didn’t seem to deter Gavin from talking. The latter completely forgetting his reason for coming to the manor in the first place.

"The next step after tonight will be the honeymoon. Have you decided on a destination for your honeymoon yet master?" Despite asking, Gavin didn’t wait for an answer because he knew he was likely not getting one, so he went on, "Women prefer beachy locations with the ocean and all that stuff for a honeymoon so I’ll highly suggest a nice beachy destination, It’ll impress your wife for sure, and then there’s also..."

Gavin went on and on talking non stop, many people were absolutely terrified of the creepy looking silver haired guy with tattoos all over his body, he exuded danger wherever he went and when many found out his true identity, they would rather run in the next direction than have anything to do with him. But whenever he was near his master, the scary Gavin became like a little kid seeking praise and recognition from an adult, always trying to curry favor.

After a lengthy conversation with himself, and the wind, the person Gavin was actually talking to finally reacted.

He dropped the glass of whiskey lightly on a nearby surface.

"...if a bride is happy on the wedding night, then she’ll be happy for the rest of her life?"

Gavin went silent, blinking a few times as If he hadn’t heard what Andrew just said correctly.

He’d said a lot of things, but why was the master suddenly repeating this part?

"Well, yes, from what I heard. A bride’s happiness depends on her wedding night, but only some people believe in that stuff, it’s only..."

Gavin’s words were cut short as Andrew suddenly walked past him leaving the rooftop.

What just happened?

Where was his master going?

"Don’t tell me...master actually believes in that? Unbelievable!"
