Chapter 543: Chapter 543:Party

Olivia pushed her back slightly, frowning.

"What kind of logic is that? You apologize and then expect me to feel pity because you are suffering now?"

Siya shook her head hurriedly.

"My family’s business is declining. Even my pocket money has been reduced. I only receive forty thousand dollars now." Her voice quivered.

"I think my father’s company might be going bankrupt."

A few steps away, Aurora raised an eyebrow, having heard the entire exchange. There was a flicker of amusement in her gaze.

Siya continued, lowering her voice dramatically. "I came not only to apologize but to tell you that karma is real. If you can forgive me, then I will consider my punishment justified."

Olivia stared at her in disbelief. "If you are done with this drama, you can leave."

Just as she finished speaking, Theodore approached, a shopping bag in hand. The rich navy fabric of a dress peeked from within.

"Olivia, try this," he said, his eyes bright with excitement. "I think it will suit you perfectly."

Siya turned.

Theodore stood there, tall and composed, even more striking in person than on television. The mall lights reflected off his features, highlighting the sharp line of his jaw.

Without hesitation, Siya rushed forward and clung to his arm.

Theodore stiffened instantly, surprise flashing across his face. He instinctively tried to pull away, but when he saw it was Siya, he hesitated.

He remembered her as Olivia’s best friend. He did not know their friendship had long since shattered. He had only found it strange that she stopped visiting.

Olivia’s expression darkened. She stepped forward and firmly pushed Siya away. "Maintain distance from my brother."

Siya’s tears flowed faster. She looked up at Theodore pitifully. "Theodore, I know I was wrong. Can you please convince Olivia to forgive me?"

Theodore frowned slightly. "You need to understand one thing."

Hope flickered across Siya’s face.

"You should wipe the snot off your face," he continued flatly. "It is very disgusting."

He shrugged off his jacket abruptly and tossed it into a nearby bin with visible revulsion. He even brushed his hands together as if shaking off contamination.

Aurora blinked. Olivia froze.

Siya, who had been pretending to cry, began crying for real this time. Her face flushed crimson with humiliation.

Olivia’s lips twitched violently as she suppressed a laugh that bubbled dangerously in her throat. She exchanged a glance with Aurora.

’We should leave before I burst out laughing.’

Aurora gave the slightest nod.

The two sisters turned and walked away without another word.

Behind them, Siya stood trembling, jealousy boiling beneath her embarrassment.

’How lucky is Olivia?’

Theodore’s protectiveness had been so natural, so immediate.

’Why does she get someone like him? Why does she have such a caring brother?’

The more she thought about it, the more bitterness festered in her chest, growing heavier with each step Olivia took away from her.

Just when Siya thought she had lost them completely, an idea flashed through her mind. She hurried forward again and called out loudly, "Olivia, wait!"

Olivia stopped, irritation already rising like a headache behind her eyes. She turned halfway, clearly unwilling to engage.

Siya clasped her hands together, forcing urgency into her tone. "Today is my birthday. Can you at least attend?"

Olivia waved her hand dismissively. "I do not want to."

But Siya immediately added, her voice trembling with what sounded like desperation,

"This is the last time I will invite you as my best friend. If not for that, then at least... remember the good times we once had."

The words lingered. Olivia’s chest tightened despite herself.

’Damn it... why did she have to bring that up?’

Memories she had tried to bury surfaced anyway.

Back then, Siya had always been the one standing beside her, helping her act innocent whenever their pranks were discovered. In many ways, Siya had been her partner in crime.

Those had truly been some of the happiest moments of her childhood.

Olivia clenched her jaw. ’Why am I remembering this now? I hate being this soft-hearted.’

Taking a deep breath, she looked at Siya and said firmly, "This is the last time."

Without waiting for a reply, she turned and walked away.

Aurora watched the entire exchange and sighed, shaking her head slightly.

’Among all of us, the softest one is definitely Olivia.’

She always pretended to keep people at a distance, yet if there was something she could do for someone she once cared about, she would never refuse.

Aurora narrowed her eyes thoughtfully. ’I really need to teach her some harsh wisdom.’

Her gaze drifted toward Siya. ’And perhaps... this girl will be useful for that lesson.’

..................

Just as Olivia and Theodore were about to settle on a place to sit and finalize their plans, Siya rushed over again, stopping them.

Olivia’s patience snapped. "What else do you want now?"

Siya chuckled awkwardly. "I was hoping Theodore could come to the party too."

Olivia frowned. "Why?"

Siya hesitated before muttering, "I originally wanted to invite a celebrity to make the party more lively, but I could not manage it."

Then she looked up at Olivia with a nostalgic smile.

"Do you remember? Once, you used my rented apartment to pretend you lived there, and I acted like a celebrity to help you save face."

Olivia did remember. And she instantly regretted it.

’I should never have accepted that favor.’

She exhaled slowly. "Fine. I will repay that today."

Turning to Theodore, she asked, "Do you have time?"

Theodore agreed without hesitation. In truth, he did not feel comfortable letting Olivia attend Siya’s party alone. ’If something happens and she gets bullied again, I would never forgive myself.’

...............

That evening, as Olivia and Theodore were preparing to leave, Aurora stopped them.

She handed Olivia a small pouch.

Olivia blinked in confusion. "What is this?"

Aurora smiled mysteriously. "There are many useful things inside. Check it while sitting in the car."

Olivia nodded, though suspicion flickered in her eyes.

Later, when she opened the pouch, her lips twitched uncontrollably.

’My sister... is terrifyingly thoughtful.’

.................

The party was held in a banquet hall inside a well-known hotel.

Olivia frowned slightly as she took in the lavish setting.

’Wasn’t she saying her family business was struggling? This does not look like someone cutting expenses.’

She chose not to comment.

Theodore, meanwhile, wore a mask and dark glasses to avoid immediate recognition. Yet the moment they entered, attention still shifted toward them. It could not be helped.

Olivia’s natural beauty, paired with her elegant dress, drew eyes instantly. And Theodore, even in disguise, carried an unmistakable presence.

Whispers began spreading.

Some assumed Olivia was Theodore’s girlfriend. A few jealous girls sneered quietly.

"His taste is not that great."

"Why would he date someone like her?"

Their mocking voices reached Olivia’s ears, each word sharpening her anger.

She was already considering leaving when suddenly Theodore’s hand slipped calmly around hers.

He stepped forward, smiling.

"Hello everyone. I am Theodore," he announced. Then he gestured gently toward her. "And this lady beside me is Olivia, my twin sister."

Silence fell like a curtain.

Shock spread across their faces as they compared the two. Though they did not look identical, they shared subtle similarities, especially the shade of their hair.

Realization dawned.

The same girls who had mocked Olivia rushed forward with exaggerated enthusiasm.

"You are truly beautiful!"

"Of course, someone from his family would be this elegant."

"You look destined for greatness."

Compliments piled up, insincere and suffocating.

Olivia watched the sudden shift with cold amusement. ’Hypocrites. All of them.’

Leaning toward Theodore, she whispered, "If you ever bring home a sister-in-law like them, I will disown you. I will also hit you hard."

Theodore gave a small thumbs-up. "If I ever lose my brain because of love, you have full permission to hit me hard and wake me up."

Hearing Theodore’s earlier joke, Olivia only shook her head, the corners of her lips still twitching.

Just then, Siya approached again, her heels clicking sharply against the polished marble floor.

She forced a bright smile. "Theodore, how is everything? Are you enjoying the party?"

Theodore glanced around at the glittering chandeliers, the loud music, and the clusters of overly made-up guests laughing too loudly. He then looked back at Siya without hesitation.

"This is one of the worst parties I have ever attended."

Siya’s lips stiffened for a fraction of a second.

Olivia bit the inside of her cheek to stop herself from laughing. ’My brother truly has no filter when he dislikes something.’

Siya recovered quickly, smoothing her expression.

"Perhaps I am lacking a little because there are so many guests to handle," she said gently. "But do not worry. I will personally take good care of you from now on."

Her voice dipped into something deliberately soft, almost seductive, and she even winked at him.

Theodore narrowed his eyes. "Is your family the only one going bankrupt, or are you developing some strange illness as well?"
