Born Into Villain's Family: I Have a 200\% Rebate System-Chapter 226: Mishap
Chapter 226: Chapter 226: Mishap
Aurora stared at Spencer’s back as he left and was dumbfounded.
Though she wanted to stop Spencer, she couldn’t muster up the courage to stop him.
It was truly strange. In front of her family and friends, she is easily able to control her emotions, but for some reason, she couldn’t do it in front of Spencer.
"I... I should... stop him." Aurora muttered softly. However, her feet seemed to have frozen in place.
Just as she was mulling over whether she should follow Spencer to the football field, her phone rang.
Looking at the name "Emily" flashing on her phone, Aurora frowned, but she picked up the call anyway.
The news she heard from the other end made Aurora’s face turn dark, and she gritted her teeth,
"What did you say?"
..................
Adriana stood at the entrance of the university, her eyes sharp and unwavering, watching Henry kneel before her in the middle of the courtyard.
His face was full of pain, and his hands were trembling as they reached out toward her.
"Adriana," he said, his voice tight with desperation,
"Please... I’ve loved you since the first day we met. I’ve always loved you. Don’t let this be the end."
The crowd that had gathered around them murmured, eyes glued to the dramatic scene unfolding. Henry’s plea echoed through the air, but Adriana wasn’t moved.
"You need to stop this, Henry," she said coldly, her voice carrying no warmth.
"I already know the truth. I’ve investigated everything. Adeline told me everything, and she wasn’t lying. You’re the one who’s been wrong."
Henry shook his head, his eyes filling with confusion and hurt.
"No! Adeline is just jealous, Adriana. She wants to break us apart because she can’t stand seeing us together. You have to believe me."
Adriana’s lips curled into a faint sneer. She had already heard all of this before.
"I don’t need to believe you," she said, her voice as sharp as a blade. "I already know what you are."
Henry’s face twisted in pain. His hands, which had been held out in pleading, fell to his sides as he stared at her.
"Please... just give me another chance. I love you. I’ll do anything. Don’t you remember all the things we’ve shared together?"
Adriana’s eyes narrowed.
"What things, Henry?" she asked with a harsh laugh.
"We’ve been together for what, a month? How can you claim to love me after only a month? What do you know about me?"
The crowd watched in silence, their whispers growing louder as they took in the scene.
Henry looked up at her, eyes wide and filled with tears.
"I... I know everything about you," he said, his voice cracking.
"I know what you like to eat, your favorite color, what kind of books you like to read. I remember every little thing because I love you."
Adriana’s expression darkened. She took a deep breath, trying to keep her anger under control.
"If you loved me," she said coldly,
"You wouldn’t be using everything I’ve ever said against me. You wouldn’t be manipulating me into feeling guilty. You wouldn’t be here begging in front of everyone like this."
The crowd murmured again, sensing a shift in the atmosphere.
Some of them started to look at Adriana with judgment, their voices growing louder.
"She’s so vain," one person whispered.
"She doesn’t care about his feelings. All she cares about is money and status."
Another voice joined in.
"She thinks she’s too good for him. She’s just using him for a little bit of fun. She’ll regret it when he gets rich and powerful."
Adriana’s gaze turned icy as she heard the crowd’s whispers.
He was shaking, his face streaked with tears.
"I understand," he said, his voice breaking.
"You want to break up with me because I don’t have money. I’m poor. I don’t have what you want. But just give me a chance.
I promise I’ll rise to the top. I’ll be someone, and then you’ll see. You’ll see that I can give you everything."
Adriana tilted her head slightly, her eyes glinting with cold amusement.
"It’s not because you’re poor, Henry," she said softly. "It’s because you’re manipulative. You don’t love me, you just want control. And I’m not going to let you use me."
"Henry! What are you doing?!"
A figure burst through the crowd. It was Lucy, Henry’s younger sister, her face contorted with both anger and worry as she rushed toward Henry.
"Get up, Henry! Stop kneeling to that heartless girl!" Lucy practically screamed, her hands tugging at his arm as she tried to pull him to his feet.
Her voice was full of fury, and her eyes burned with a mixture of disbelief and disgust.
She then turned to Adriana, her eyes narrowing with venom.
"You’re a cold-hearted, manipulative person! You’ve never cared for my brother, and now you’ve broken him!" she shouted, her voice cracking with emotion.
"You think you can get away with this? I’ll expose you, Adriana. I’ll make sure everyone knows the truth about you!"
The crowd, already buzzing from the exchange between Adriana and Henry, fell silent for a moment.
Then, with a dramatic wave of her hand, Lucy motioned to someone in the crowd.
A man, whom no one seemed to recognize, stepped forward.
He pulled out his phone and, with swift movements, set up a live stream.
As the camera focused on Adriana, he spoke into the phone, his voice booming out over the air.
"Everyone, listen up!" he called, making sure the camera was aimed directly at Adriana.
"This is the real Adriana! Let me tell you all about her—she’s a vain girl who’s been acting all innocent. But behind that smile, she’s a completely different person."
The crowd stirred as the live stream began.
The man continued, without a hint of mercy in his voice.
"She claims to be from a rich family, but did you know she refused to give her ex-boyfriend $500 when he needed it?
That’s right, she’s so tight with her money, she wouldn’t even help him out in his time of need!"
