Without protections from long-range attack troops, the winding and elongated marching columns of the 50,000 troops were nothing but fish on the chopping block in front of the air force, left at the mercy of the cleaver.
Rommel had long believed that besieging Sabak was unnecessary for the Ocean Races. Staying on this barren wilderness and racking their brains to conquer it was merely asking for trouble.
Richard’s pioneering bombing-type air force introduced a completely new topic to war theory — "air supremacy"!
