Chapter 2023: Chapter 643: Devastating Losses (Part 2)

"What about this one?" the Mermaid Marshal pointed at a turtle warrior covered in flat, spiky fruits.

"This seems to be a jackfruit dropped by a War Ancient Tree. There’s a presence of Prairie Elf Mages, I guess they brought it to Witherspoon!"

"Did you guys just notice it? There’s a special piece of equipment on Beamon’s city wall that can continuously cast magic!" Prince Rhincor turned to look at a large group of Sea Clan Alchemists: "Who can give me an answer?"

"It’s probably some kind of artifact equipment from the Aegean Continent, but its cooldown period should be over by now." An elderly Goblin Master Alchemist with streaked beard hunched over, shakily advised the prince: "Your Highness, artifacts are rare, I hope you should pay more attention to their refined gold arrows..."

This aged Master Alchemist had large crusty patches on his hands, a sign of years spent polishing his works. The skin of the Goblin Magic Sharks is the best material for polishing, smoothing, reversing grit, and is flawless.

Judging by the respectful attitude of the surrounding Goblins who looked up to him, the words of this wise and serene Master Alchemist could not possibly be wrong.

"Refined gold arrows? How could they be refined gold arrows! Master Abiatti, are you really sure you didn’t see it wrong?" Prince Similian struggled with an incredulous gulp, staring straight at the dark yellow metal arrows just dug out from the soil and pulled from corpses, with shock and disbelief all over his face.

A dozen Goblin Alchemists stood aside with their eyes bulging like angry pufferfish.

"The purity of these refined gold arrows is very high, making it impossible to recast and remelt. They are akin to the high-purity refined gold veins formed after our seabed volcano eruptions and are naturally fixed metals of one-time use!" Master Abiatti bowed respectfully: "Your Highness, from my personal perspective, I really can’t believe any land race could use such refined gold arrows as standard weapons unless they had thousands of Magic Tutor-level alchemists to accomplish that. But the reality before us forces me to believe that among these Behemoth shooters, there are at least a few thousand terrifying individuals using refined gold arrows, and they use full-plated arrows that theoretically cannot be shot without sufficient kinetic energy, yet..."

"Enough!" Prince Rhincor refused to hear more, because even he would be horrified if he heard more.

The inability to make fire in the ocean is an inherent environmental limitation that makes the alchemical skills of the Sea Clan far incomparable to those on land; however, it is also because of this inherent limitation that the Goblin Alchemists have techniques and achievements in carving and polishing far exceeding the levels of land-based alchemists; the ocean, with its vast and boundless expanse hundreds of times that of land, holds treasures too numerous to count. Goblin Alchemists who grew up in the ocean may have insurmountable natural defects in alchemical techniques, but their vision is definitely first-class!

Since Master Abiatti, the most experienced Master Alchemist, has spoken, there could be no possibility of him making unfounded remarks due to senility.

Refined gold is known as the king of metals with the highest density in the world; after being smelted and formed, refined gold weapons can naturally develop composite serrations invisible to the naked eye on the blade edge, and with sufficient power, these razor-sharp weapons can even cut through diamonds!

"You old bastard! Open your bleary eyes and take a good look!" Prince Similian’s face turned blue and then red, like a cat having its tail stepped on by a fat woman, suddenly spewing sharp curses: "Look at this battlefield before your eyes, do you know how many warriors died in this siege battle we just lost? Do you know how many were killed by refined gold arrows? Do you know that even our mage troop was attacked by refined gold arrows fired from 1,200 yards away, and if not for sufficient guards arranged, that wave of arrow attacks alone could have wiped out all our mages! Why didn’t you warn us sooner! You old bastard!"

A group of Goblin Alchemists hung their heads tremblingly, not daring to refute or dispute the prince’s unwarranted reproach.

"That damned Richard, our warriors suffered the heaviest casualties on his front, not even reaching the edge of the city wall!" Prince Similian shook with rage, beneath Witherspoon City, only the Summer Palace Guard’s side had bodies piled into hills, and no one could cross a clear and straight moat line.

"One to zero, in the magical exchanges we just had, our over two thousand Hai Mu Mages were actually defeated one to zero by the Magic Wasteland’s Behemoth!" Prince Rhincor’s face also brewed a large-scale storm. If not for checking these corpses, he might not have lost control of his emotions, but the facts before him compelled this battle-hardened Seia Border Marshal to gradually lose his reason!

One to zero is a term in magical combat, representing the final outcome of the offensive and defensive engagements between both sides.

Mages’ battles are not like conventional battles; an ordinary warrior might remain lively after a heavy blow from the opponent, but for the physically frail mages, a small mistake could cause the overwhelmingly powerful magic to end their lives a hundred times, a thousand times, ten thousand times over!!
