Part 11: The Aftermath of a (Mostly) Successful Job
The explosion echoed through the streets, shaking the ground beneath them.
Leo froze. "Okay, that... wasn't my fault."
Marco raised an eyebrow. "Are you sure? Because statistically, most disasters in the past week have been directly related to you."
Enzo, ever the practical one, pulled out his phone. "That explosion was at the docks. Dante's not going to be happy if it involves us."
Leo sighed. "Do you think we should"
Before he could finish, his phone rang.
It was Dante.
Leo gulped.
"Hey, Uncle D! How's your"
"WHERE ARE YOU?" Dante's voice boomed through the phone.
Leo winced and held the phone away from his ear. "Um... out. Enjoying the night air."
"Get your idiot self back to HQ. NOW."

The line went dead.
Marco let out a low whistle. "That sounded like an urgent Dante. You're so dead."
Leo rubbed his temples. "Yeah, yeah, let's go before he tracks us down himself."
Back at Mafia HQ: The Dante Lecture (Volume 6,892)
Leo barely had time to step into Dante's office before a stack of newspapers was thrown at his face.
WHAP!
"Ow! What was that for?" Leo complained.
Dante, arms crossed, pointed at the headline:
MYSTERIOUS EXPLOSION AT THE DOCKS POSSIBLE MAFIA INVOLVEMENT?
Leo blinked. "Ohhh. That explosion."
Dante's eye twitched. "You mean the explosion that happened right after you finished a job? That explosion?"
Leo hesitated. "...Possibly?"
Dante pinched the bridge of his nose. "Do you even know what was in that package?"
Leo and Marco exchanged glances.
"Uh. No?" Leo admitted.
Dante slammed his hand on his desk. "That was a timer-activated bomb, you moron!"
Leo's jaw dropped. "Wait, what?! Who even orders a bomb for delivery?"
Dante exhaled slowly, like he was trying very hard not to commit a crime. "The woman you delivered it to is from the Vega Syndicate. And now they've started a war with one of our allies!"
Leo raised a hand. "So, technically... this wasn't my fault. I just delivered it."
Dante gave him a death stare. "Do you want to live to see tomorrow?"
Leo quickly put his hand down. "Point taken."
Marco, trying not to laugh, leaned over. "Soooo... what now?"
Dante took a deep breath. "Now? You and Leo are going to fix this mess before it turns into an all-out war."
Leo groaned. "Why me?"
Dante glared.
Leo put up his hands. "Okay, okay! I get it. No more questions."
Dante pointed to the door. "Get out and do not come back until you fix this."
The Vega Syndicate: Home of Questionable Decisions
Leo, Marco, and Enzo pulled up outside a high-end nightclub that doubled as the Vega Syndicate's base.
The place was packed with well-dressed criminals, bodyguards, and at least three tigers lounging near the entrance.
Leo stared at the tigers. "...Is that normal?"
Marco shrugged. "Rich people do weird things."
Enzo checked his gun. "Let's focus. Our goal is simple: Convince the Vegas that we weren't involved in the bomb before they put a hit on us."
Leo straightened his jacket. "Alright. Let's be professional."
Five minutes later
"I SWEAR IT WASN'T MY FAULT!" Leo shouted as he dodged a flying champagne bottle.
The nightclub was in chaos.
Men in suits were pulling out weapons. The tigers were growling. A waiter was hiding under a table.
Marco ducked behind a bar. "Wow, great job, Leo. You really screamed 'professionalism' back there."
Leo pouted. "Hey! They started yelling first!"
Enzo, unfazed, grabbed Leo by the collar and dragged him back up. "Fix. This. Now."
Leo sighed. "Okay, okay!"
He threw up his hands. "Listen up! I was just a delivery guy! If you wanna be mad at someone, be mad at the person who ordered it!"
The leader of the Vega Syndicate, a tall woman named Valeria Vega, narrowed her eyes. "You expect me to believe you had no idea what you were delivering?"
Leo grinned nervously. "Y-Yeah?"
She studied him for a moment... then snapped her fingers.
Immediately, two of her men grabbed Leo by the arms.
"Wait, wait, WAIT! Let's talk about this!"
Valeria smirked. "Oh, we'll talk. But first... how do you feel about tigers?"
Leo paled.
Marco sighed. "Well, this is gonna be fun."
