Blade of the Goddess-Chapter 198
Chapter 198: Chapter 198
"Is that all you came here for?" Zion wondered.
"I also came to make sure you weren’t dead. Now that I know you’re okay, I’ll be taking my leave. Ta-Ta"
[Simp.]
"You’re a fucking machine bitch."
[At least I know what I am.]
"Fuck off. I’m not a simp. I’m a Man of culture."
[Man of culture.] Tessa said with him at the same time.
[Yeah, I knew you would say that shit, simp.]
"I hope your body doesn’t work when you finish it."
[I hope you get eaten by those flame lions]
---
While Zion had an easier experience facing the lions this time around, the same couldn’t be said for the other monsters around.
Regardless of their shape and size, they were all stronger, faster, and even smarter, which completely threw him off.
Still, he managed to come out on top and make it out of each confrontation alive, a bit banged up, but alive.
This, however, wasn’t the case when he decided to attack the strongest monster in the area just to see how powerful it was.
Huge mistake.
"Ahhhhhhhhhhh!!! Why didn’t you warn me?!"
[I did! You just didn’t listen!]
"I DID LISTEN! YOU DARED ME TO ENTER ITS CAVE!"
[I didn’t think you would actually do it. I thought you were smarter than that.]
Currently, Zion was running away from a serpent the size of a dragon. It had dark green skin, four eyes, six horns on its head, a spiked tail, and breathed acid mist that could melt anything it touched, even mana.
"It’s like that black snake I fought in the corrupted forest, except on crack!"
"Master, below you!" Aryah shouted fɾēewebnσveℓ.com
He jumped, barely avoiding the snake’s mouth as it emerged from the ground, taking off into the air and leaving the creature behind.
"Phew, that was close. It almost had me."
[Zion! Zion! Watch out!]
"What-OOOOOOOOOOF!"
The serpent’s spiked tail slammed into him, critically damaging his armor while puncturing his shoulder. Poison seeped into his veins, burning the insides of his body as it tried to kill him.
’Ughh! My immunity to all poisons isn’t working here! If it wasn’t for my regeneration, I would have been dead!’
He forced the tail out of his shoulder, standing back up only to see the serpent right above him, its forked tongue flicking into the air as it hissed, acid dropping onto the ground.
"Fuck off, you big ugly snake!" Aryah punched the snake so hard that its eyes rolled back slightly, and it had to re-adjust itself from the attack.
"Nice one, Aryah!"
Zion joined in too, aiming for the snake’s eyes with his plasma blade. He learned that his plasma blade was more efficient to use in the fracture since it wasn’t made of mana or holy power, which were weaker because of the environment. So, he was confident that his weapon wouldn’t fail him.
As soon as the plasma blade touched the snake’s eyes, it fizzled out.
"Oh you gotta be fucking ki-" The snake headbutted him to the ground and vomited acid all over his body.
Aryah managed to protect him in time, but not even her power could stop the acid from melting her mana. So, once Zion recovered, he grabbed Aryah and bolted out of there.
He passed by hundreds of monsters, purposely flying in their direction to deter the snake from chasing him.
The weaker monsters fled, trying their best not to get killed by the apex predator of the area, but they were either killed or severely wounded.
Thankfully, some monsters, Basilisks, didn’t like how the snake was causing problems and decided to attack it. While they were weaker, together, they actually stood a chance.
Because of them, Zion was able to make it to safety.
"We’re safe! Oh god we’re saaaaafeeeeee! I don’t wanna do that ever again!"
[You should do it now. Your body stage.]
"Yeah, I planned on doing it after encountering that snake."
Although Zion broke through to the Ascendant stage, he didn’t progress with his Body stage and was only in the Bone Reconstruction stage. He planned to level up his body stage after reaching the transcendent stage, but now he knew he should wait and become as strong as he possibly could at the moment.
"Here goes nothing."
Zion focused on the energy in his body, feeling how it flowed and how it strengthened his body. He followed it everywhere, understanding how it interacted with his internal organs, the bond they had with one another, and he engraved that feeling into his memory.
After taking a deep breath, he began the process.
His lungs exploded. The pain was intense, unbearable; he couldn’t breathe, but he pushed through as blood flowed out of his mouth and nose. After a few seconds, his lungs grew back, stronger than ever.
He continued this process with his kidneys, his liver, his intestines, every single organ in his body, until it was time for his brain.
He was scared to be honest. The brain is the most important organ of the body. Some might say its the heart or lungs because the body needs blood and oxygen, the brain included, but it’s the brain that tells those dumbass organs to do their job in the first place.
After stalling for a bit, he continued, and his brain blew up.
Zion collapsed to the ground, lifeless, as the main engine of his body was destroyed. He didn’t move, he didn’t breathe, blood didn’t flow, but his mana continued to grow.
Ten seconds later, Zion shot up, gasping for air as his brain grew back stronger than ever. He completed his transformation by consolidating his strength as his body now handled mana way better than before, then he opened his eyes.
"That fucking sucked."
[Looks like you made it through. Thought I lost you for a second.]
"You did. The whole point of body stages is to kill off your old body to have a new one take its place. Since my internal organs was the focus this time, I literally fucking died when my brain blew up, but I came back to life because my soul knew I was evolving my body, so it waited for my brain to grow back."
[I see. Well, now that you got that over with, rest up before going back out there.]
"How long do you think it will take for me to reach the peak of the Transcendent stage, body transformation, and kill the serpent? I say no more than 3 years." He asked, grinning as he wanted to make a friendly bet with Tessa.
[I got you at 5]
"Oh yeah? We’ll see."
