Blade of the Goddess-Chapter 122 - More Carl’s
Chapter 122: Chapter 122 - More Carl’s
"W-What? What just happened?" The boss asked, stumbling back out of his chair. He positioned his club in front of him, ready to fight Zion if he took even one step.
"What did you do?" He demanded, sweat dripping down his face. ’I’m a grand master and not even I can take them all out in an instant like that! Those guys were my strongest men!’
"What’s with that look on your face?" Zion asked as he took a step forward. "Oh, I know. That’s the face of a sinner."
"You bastard!" The boss charged at Zion, club in hand, and swung with all his might. The weapon collided with the ground, smashing it to smithereens under the sheer force of his strength.
"That’s how you fight?" Zion asked, crushing the club with his foot. He then kicked the guy’s knee, which forced him to the ground, kneed him in the face, and finished off with a bone-crushing kick to the chest, all with his hands in his pockets for the style points.
The boss was knocked outside, crashing through the wooden walls, tumbling in the dirt and mud.
He stopped his momentum by dragging his fingers on the ground and got up to charge at Zion. But once he did, he was surrounded by fifty Holy Knights, each of their swords beaming with Holy Power.
"What is the meaning of this?" The boss asked, knowing some of them were in his pockets. Or so he believed.
"The reign of the Bear Gang ends today, and soon, the others will follow," Zion said, walking out of the building from the hole the boss created.
"Hahaha! You think you can drive me out that easily? My pockets run deep! I have connections! If you think you can get rid of what has been established for generations, then you’re gravely mistaken."
"Drive out? Heh, what? Did you think I was going to simply let you walk away? Let you leave this place without paying the price?" Zion looked down at the man who was on one knee with disgust and discontent. "No, I’m here for blood, and I’ll start with your head."
"You think I’ll let that happen?!" He lunged forward, punching Zion with a highly concentrated blast of mana. But instead of doing damage to the divine apostle, he shattered his entire arm trying to punch through Zion’s mana field.
"ARGHHHHHHHHHH!" He bellowed in pain.
Zion turned to his knights. "Anyone who has a bear tattoo, kill them all."
"Yes, Lord Zion!" The knights scattered in all directions.
"H-How, how is this happening? We own this city! This is our place, our territory. You can’t come here and mess up everything that we established!" In one final act of desperation, the boss swallowed a pill that greatly enhanced his strength, speed, durability, and mana.
"I’LL KILL YOU!" He shouted in a fit of rage
But even that wasn’t enough to scratch Zion. He stopped the fist coming his way with a finger. One finger. That was enough to shatter the man’s pride.
He dropped to his knees. "One finger. One finger. One finger." He repeated over and over again in disbelief.
"Before I kill you, what’s your name?" Zion asked
"C-Carl Sr. The great Bear slaughter." He responded.
"Tessa, update the list. We’ve slayed another Carl." He grabbed the man’s throat and ripped off his head with the spine still attached. "This will serve as a warning to the other gang members."
For the rest of the night, sounds of screams, killing, and horrors echoed through the dark as the holy knights completely eradicated anyone who was even remotely tied to the Horned Bear Gang.
---
"Have you lost your mind?!" A Bishop asked, slamming his fists on the table in a heap of rage.
"You may be the Apostle, but that doesn’t give you the right to murder a whole organization overnight!" Another one yelled.
"So what? He got rid of a thorn in our side!" A Priestness argued.
"That’s right! We’ve had to deal with their illegal and inhumane activities for so long! We should order another expedition just to wipe out the rest of them!" A Cardinal agreed with the priestess.
It was the next day, and the church staff demanded a meeting with Zion to express their feelings on his late-night activities regarding the destruction of the Horned Bear Gang.
"Lord Zion, I understand you want to get rid of the filth that stinks up this place, but we have a system that we follow to ensure the safety of the people and to make sure the gangs don’t retaliate by hurting them." The Pope spoke, his tone soft and reassuring.
"So why haven’t you gotten rid of them yet?" Zion asked
"It’s not that simple." He argued
"Really? I just exterminated an entire gang last night with no trace of them left. Seems pretty simple to me."
"Lord Zion, we’re not disregarding your abilities." An Archbishop chimed in. "But we’re worried about the fallout that might happen. We don’t want to upset the gang leaders."
Zion chuckled, "So you’re sympathizing with them?"
"N-No! Of course not! We just don’t want to cause any unnecessary death and destruction."
Zion stood up from his chair and slammed his hands on the table. "Death and destruction? Look around you, fool! We’re sitting in a building that’s seconds away from falling apart. People didn’t have clean water to drink, food to eat, or clothes on their backs. Sicknesses and diseases plagued this place. You all sitting around and doing nothing is causing more death and destruction than ever before."
"Thank you! I’ve been saying that for years!" The priestess sighed in relief, happy that the most important person here shared her viewpoint.
"You don’t understand! You’ll only make them upset and retaliate! They will cause more harm to this place than you could possibly know?!" The Pope yelled in anger.
"And how do you know this?" Zion asked, curious to see what his reaction would be.
"I-I," He stuttered for a bit. "I have seen what they are capable of."
"And what are they capable of?"
"Terrible things."
"What terrible things."
"THE TERRIBLE THINGS THAT GET PEOPLE KILLED!" He yelled.
Zion’s energy flooded the room, trapping people on their chairs under the weight of his power as they felt the might of their Divine Apostle. "Pope, I understand that you might be upset, but don’t EVER raise your voice at me. Do you understand?"
"I-I must have lost my mind for a bit there. My apologies, Lord Zion." He muttered, barely able to speak.
"Two days. This city will be liberated in no more than two days. After that, we will rebuild and restore the glory of Luminera. End of discussion. If I find anyone not trying to improve the situation here, I’ll kill you myself. Dismissed."
