Chapter 424: The Princess in the Dream

Everyone wanted to be close to Miss Severella and Miss Anna. Their fathers each represented the unquestionable face of a major region, wielding immeasurable wealth and terrifying social influence.

Even a casual remark from them—something like, Do you know so-and-so? I once told him something I really agreed with—could change a person’s fate.

This was no joke; it was real. That’s why the higher one’s position, the more careful they are about commenting on others. Whether praise or criticism, it could alter someone’s life path.

But when these two young ladies—often compared and contrasted—met, and someone got caught in between, it was a nightmare. Most people would find it terrifying. You couldn’t offend anyone, and you couldn’t afford to offend anyone. A single emotional question from one girl could ruin a person’s life.

It was truly frightening.

At this moment, Lynch was caught in such a vortex, but it was clear he wasn’t struggling as people imagined.

“No offense meant. I respect both ladies, everyone present, and women across the Federation and the world…” He responded to Severella’s earlier use of junior in a very particular way.

In the Federation’s school culture, there was no strict hierarchy between seniors and juniors, unlike in Gephra.

Gephra was a monarchy where people learned from birth that some were inherently noble and others base. This sense of nobility and baseness evolved into a rigid, suffocating class system throughout their lives.

Whether at school, work, in government, or the military, there were layers of rank people couldn’t resist.

Obedience to orders was a unique cultural trait of Gephra. Their military was known for frequent abuse and violence, but the Federation had none of this.

The Federation, valuing absolute freedom, had no such rigid hierarchy. Except in the military, where ranks and duties were clear, other places were quite free.

Even though Severella called Lynch junior, she couldn’t command him based on seniority.

Still, some people followed strange, unspoken rules.

“I don’t mind being called junior, but I hope you both won’t call me that.” Lynch smiled, but now his smile carried an invisible barrier, a sense of distance, though his expression hadn’t changed.

Squinting slightly, with a faint gleam in his eyes, he stopped and looked at the two young ladies. “You can call me Lynch, kid, young man, or something else…”

He glanced at Anna, who seemed to have realized something and glared back. Lynch kept smiling, “But please don’t call me junior, thank you.”

The two girls were surprised. They hadn’t expected Severella’s casual junior to provoke such a strong reaction.

They didn’t know there was a state in this world called unyielding because of no desire.

If someone has no desires and can’t be coerced, no one can forcefully change their mind.

Lynch was like that. He never intended to take advantage of the two young ladies or seek selfish favors from those behind them.

For him, surpassing Mr. Wadrick or Mr. Patric was only a matter of time. He was young, maybe lacking something else, but never time.

With no desires, there was no need to lower his status or flatter these girls or their backers.

From the start, he wanted nothing from them, so he could firmly uphold his principles.

When Lynch was young, in his previous world, he once experienced something unforgettable. He was still a kid, playing with a few friends.

One summer day, a girl joined their little group.

She wore a very light, cool dress. They found a quiet spot by a park lake.

The girl took off her sandals, lifted her skirt halfway, and dipped her feet into the water, stirring small waves.

The shimmering light on the water and her beauty made life feel incredibly beautiful.

Even more unbelievable, the girl was teasing them… or maybe it was just a cruel joke.

“Did you know,” she said, her voice dripping with temptation, eyes glinting like silk, “someone said my skin tastes sweet…” In that instant, every male present could feel a raw, almost primal heat, a desire that ignored all boundaries.

The girl enjoyed this, but Lynch watched coldly from the side. Noticing him, she asked, “Aren’t you curious?”

Lynch calmly shook his head. “I’m not.”

She was curious instead. “Why not?”

Lynch casually lit a cigarette, took a drag, and slowly exhaled, “Because I don’t want to.”

At that time, his mindset was the same as now: I don’t want you, so don’t treat me like someone with desires. That would only ruin our pure friendship.

The two girls pondered this. Severella seemed to have forgotten that she was the first to bring up the concept of senior. She quickly shifted the topic to what she wanted to discuss with Lynch.

As expected, she ignored Anna again. 𝒇𝒓𝒆𝒆𝙬𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝒎

At that moment, the barrier in Lynch’s smile vanished. His smile became clean and pure once more.

“After you left yesterday, I thought about what we discussed. I was inspired and thought a lot. Can I use your ideas?” She quickly added, “Of course, I won’t use them for free. I’ll give you some shares.”

Anna, calming down, looked at Severella and Lynch with curiosity. Suddenly, as if she discovered something, her eyes showed surprise.

If she wasn’t mistaken, the King’s only princess, Severella, seemed to have taken a liking to Lynch.

Maybe not love yet, but definitely a favorable impression. She suddenly smiled slightly, feeling better herself, and joined in, “What are you discussing? Maybe I can help.”

“Help us mess things up?” Severella turned to Anna, smiling kindly, “Just kidding, don’t mind me.”

It was just a joke, but also clearly showed Severella’s refusal to answer Anna’s questions. Sometimes girls use their intelligence in ways men don’t understand.

Anna smiled sweetly, saying it was okay, but no one knew her true thoughts.

She listened carefully and grew genuinely curious about their discussion. Gradually, she became absorbed and had to admit—Lynch was a very special person, maybe a genius.

Severella had thought from the start about writing a school novel to boost the sales of the trendy brand she managed—a win-win plan—but she had no good ideas so far.

For example, she wanted to write some inspirational novels, which are very popular in today’s society.

Art, especially literary art, is the most in tune with current trends. Unlike dance, opera, painting, or music—which require both performers to have strong artistic skills and audiences to have a high level of artistic appreciation—literary art is different.

A canvas with scattered lines can be incomprehensible if you lack sufficient artistic training; you wouldn’t know the style or form of the artwork.

But literary art is accessible: as long as you can read and aren’t foolish, there will always be books suited to you.

After expanding on some of her ideas, Lynch suggested another possibility.

Instead of focusing on the distant, harsh struggle of entrepreneurship, why not make love stories closer to ordinary students?

At this time, university students mostly came from middle-class families with purchasing power, and romance was a very popular topic on campus.

Pink love, sweet fantasies, and a princess dream—girls would be obsessed with this, desperately wishing to be the girl in the story.

With proper promotion and emphasizing Severella’s trendy brand, it could be tailored perfectly. They could create a sub-brand centered on “The Princess in Love,” or even establish a separate brand company.

If managed well, this brand could become the most beloved by young female intellectuals in the Federation for at least the next decade. After all, every well-off girl has a pink princess dream. This was why Severella was so pleasantly surprised by Lynch’s ideas.

She herself couldn’t come up with such a complete plan and needed Lynch’s guidance.

“I heard that…”

As the conversation was wrapping up, Anna suddenly spoke up, asserting her presence. Severella looked at her with a glance that seemed to say, “What do you want this time?”

Anna caught the expression, flicked her hair, and said, “I want in. I want shares, or I’ll get someone else to do it. You know, my family has plenty of people for this.”
