Chapter 139: New Career

[6:54 P.M]

"Mmh..."

Fang Raon covered his eyes with his arm and turned to lie on his side and lazily opened his phone.

He saw the time, let out a groan, and decided to finally wake up.

’I think sleeping during the day because it makes my mind all muddled.’

He thought to himself, and to properly wake himself up, he poured himself a cup of coffee and drank it in one go.

’I need to take a bath. I feel like my clothes are sticking to my skin. So annoying...’

He went to the bathroom and quickly turned on the faucet to start running a bath, and then he went to check the fridge.

It was empty, and his empty stomach wasn’t liking the sight of it.

’I also need to go to store...’

He softly closed the fridge, and while listening to the sound of the running bath, he looked over to the computer.

’I wonder how my video is doing.’

Fang Raon sat down by the computer, turned it on, and watched it slowly turn on—painfully slowly.

It also sounded like the computer was dying, as it was making such an insane ruckus.

’The pains of having a shitty computer. I’d like a better one, not going to lie. It took forever to edit the video because of the slow computer.’

He thought.

If the computer were slightly faster, he believed that he could’ve finished an hour earlier or even faster.

In that moment, the computer turned on, and after writing his password, the computer opened up to the desktop.

He went to the Internet browser, typed "Lagless" on the search bar, and saw it slowly load the website.

’The bath!’

Fang Raon ran to the bathroom and stopped the running water as the water was almost gushing out of the tub.

He then stumbled back to the computer, saw that the website had finished loading up, and went to check out his video stats.

’Loading... Loading... Loading...’

At that moment, it finished loading, and Fang Raon’s heart beat in nervousness as the information about his video popped open on the screen.

[Guild War - Rose Records vs. Grinding Grief/Monsieur Rascal]

[21,432 Views - 1,124 Likes/44 Dislikes]

"Oh?! Holy shit..."

Fang Raon grabbed his head in surprise and looked at those numbers as if he were dreaming.

’It has been... like 14 hours since I uploaded the video. Isn’t this ridiculously good? It also looks like people like the video.

’There are few dislikes, but every video has those, so I don’t really mind.’

Fang Raon smiled.

He was extremely thrilled, and he thought about the possibility of making a proper career out of making videos.

This was his first try, and honestly, he believed he could do much better.

’What do the comments say?’

Fang Raon clicked on the comments with the mouse.

[Stonebryan: A good video! I had no idea that the locals were so much affected by the war between players!]

[SniperTower: I am really happy that Rose Records won! I am Della’s 32-month sub in DeadPixel, and I’ve been worrying that she might die, but this really put a smile on my face!]

[Binrod: Congratulations to Rose Records! It does look like their Global Guild Ranking will increase, which is completely earned!]

[Micros_L: I liked the video, but dude, you really have to get a better microphone. It sounds a little staticky, but otherwise, great job!]

[Bruncher: A shitty video. I can’t believe that you’re proud of winning with an ambush. No honor. Grinding Grief would’ve destroyed your shitty guild otherwise!]

’The classic hate message. I expected to see at least one. Maybe that guy is a Grinding Grief member’s alt account? Haha... Either way, it does look like most comments are positive.

’The criticism is also good to get. I know my microphone is shit. Maybe I should invest in a better one. It’ll make my videos better.’

Fang Raon thought to himself.

He then closed the computer, dipped in the bath, and relaxed completely.

While relaxing in the bath, he looked past the open door of the bathroom and towards the computer.

’I already made some money with that video. It won’t be much, as 21 thousand views don’t give a lot, but I can use that and some of the money in my bank account to go purchase better equipment.

’A microphone and computer.’

He thought.

The stores were still open, so he could take a quick trip to the 40th floor, which had some decent electronics stores.

’I’ll do that...’

Fang Raon climbed out of the bath, dried himself, and then changed into new clothes that he hadn’t used for a while.

It was his first time seeing what his clothes looked like, and they were pretty normal and bland. Just a black t-shirt, gray sweatpants, and his sneakers were plain white.

’I don’t care about fashion, so whatever.’

He put them on, took his keys and wallet, and then headed out of the apartment.

In that moment, when he stepped out of his apartment, he noticed that there was some guy sleeping next to his door.

A homeless guy, by the looks of it. Flushed face, as if he were drunk. Bushy beard that hadn’t been taken care of. And overgrown hair.

Fang Raon ignored him, walked to the elevator, and pressed on the 40th floor button, and made his way up.

Ding!

When the elevator reached the 40th floor, the doors slid open, and he stepped out.

"...This damn lightbulb!"

In the middle of the hallway, a lightbulb flickered and went out. And there were a couple of people working on replacing it.

A person stood on a ladder—a shaky-looking ladder—and his co-worker was just making sure that it was secure.

Meanwhile, a group of kids, juggling a football on their feet, walked past them in their sport club uniforms.

At the apartments, it looked like the whole neighborhood had some kind of gathering. The neighbors entered one of their apartments that seemed to be hosting a party.

’It’s quite alive here.’

Fang Raon thought.

He didn’t mind moving here from the 18th floor. The difference between this place and the 18th floor was already incredibly vast.
