Chapter 70 -66 The Six Demons Strike
The three of them walked another five li along the mountain path when Muqiang Baoshan suddenly pointed towards the forest ahead with tension in his voice:
“Ahead is where I encountered the Six Demons. Everyone quickly stuff your ears with cotton and be extremely vigilant!”
Upon hearing this, Li Ping’an immediately stood behind Zixia, blocked his ears, and carefully walked forward with the Hundred Plays Steel Rod in hand.
As they proceeded, two figures emerged from among the roadside skeletons, none other than Cen Changqing and Wang Lang the Protector—the very pair who previously abducted Li Ping’an and took him up the mountain.
Disheveled and with blood-red, vacant eyes, they were acting wildly insane. The former was covered in blood, the latter chasing him with an iron mallet. Though master and servant before, they now resembled sworn enemies, with the others seemingly having perished long ago.
“How are those two still alive with such dire fate?”
Li Ping’an and Zixia wondered in amazement.

“These two scoundrels deserve to die!”
Muqiang Baoshan said with disdain.
When Cen Changqing saw someone approaching, he fled to where Muqiang Baoshan stood, with Wang Lang the Protector hot on his heels. Just a step too slow, Changqing, the scoundrel, was caught by Wang Lang, his head shattered by the mallet, dead instantly.
From the lifeless body of Cen Changqing, a wisp of black air suddenly emerged and wafted deep into the forest; his body turned into a skeleton in the blink of an eye.
“How dare you kill me?”
The furious Wang Lang, upon killing Changqing, turned to attack Muqiang Baoshan; but Li Ping’an swiftly broke the black thread controlling Wang Lang with his mallet before he could make a move.
“What’s going on… where am I?”
Wang Lang the Protector instantly came to his senses, staring blankly at the three before him.
“You beast, you’ve killed your own master. But well, it’s just a dog-eat-dog world!”
Li Ping’an mocked. Upon seeing Changqing’s clothes and the skeleton at his feet, Wang Lang panicked and, after staring for a long time as if recalling everything, he let out a cry and ran off into the depths of the forest, vanishing from sight.
“This scoundrel Cen Changqing met a fitting end; he saves me the trouble of dealing with him.”
After saying this, Muqiang Baoshan continued to lead the way.
They hadn’t walked fifty meters further before a strange wind gusted from deep within the forest; it was black in color, starting slowly and building into a tempest that soon blacked out the sky.
In the blink of an eye, the sky, previously clear for miles, was obscured as if by an eclipse, and a demon fog enveloped a fifty-li radius around Li Ping’an, Zixia, and Muqiang Baoshan; nothing could be seen beyond twenty meters.
“Everyone, be careful, the Six Demons have arrived!”
Muqiang Baoshan shouted in alarm, immediately drawing his Black Sword. Zixia also reacted swiftly, already positioning the Ziqing Dual Swords defensively in front of Li Ping’an.
Thud! Thud! Thud!
About a hundred meters in front of Li Ping’an and the others, the heads of six Demon Monsters appeared atop the demon fog, their true forms obscured, with their bodies as tall as large trees. Their footsteps were as terrifying as an earthquake.
“Destined One, you’ve actually come!?”
The Six Demons shrieked simultaneously from six different directions, followed by a chorus of triumphant laughter.
“Hahaha!”
The six laughing voices pressed down, swiftly invading the ears of Li Ping’an, Zixia, and Muqiang Baoshan.
“Such agony!”
Fortunately, the three had stuffed their ears with cotton in advance. Still, among them, it was especially agonizing for Li Ping’an, as if a needle had pierced his ears.
“Spirit Clearing Curse!”
Zixia immediately turned and recited a few curses towards Li Ping’an. After she finished, the pain disappeared for Li Ping’an, and the Six Demons’ laughter could no longer reach his ears.
“Three people have come, two cultivators, but which one is the Destined One! Hurry! Go!”
Seeing their tactics had no effect, the Six Demons quickened their pace. After an earthquake-like tremor, when they reappeared, they were ten meters away from Li Ping’an, Zixia, and Muqiang Baoshan, fading in and out of sight amid the demonic fog.
Fortunately, within the visible range, Li Ping’an, Zixia, and Muqiang Baoshan finally got a clear view of the Six Demons of Five Fingers Peak.
All six demons stood twenty Zhang tall, their demonic qi intense and their killing intent pervasive.
The first, Ear Hears Anger, had a head as big as a bucket, skin the color of bronze, and his face was etched with golden curses. His eyeballs flew out of their sockets, and there was a slit from his forehead to his nose, draped in a red kasaya.

The second, Body’s Inherent Worry, had the body of a demon monkey, with a small monkey growing out of its chest. With a mallet and a jade chime hanging at its waist, one might mistake it for one of the Four Monkeys of the Mixed World.

The third, Eye Sees Joy, had the appearance of a strange monk, holding a withered wood Zen Staff in his right hand, with a huge lump growing on his back full of eyes, truly bizarre.

The fourth, Tongue Tastes Thought, had black skin like a hairless black bear, sharp fangs and claws, with bone spurs growing on his head, and a tongue half the length of his body sticking out, licking a set of dry bones in his arms.

As for Nose Smells Love and Opinion and Desire, the two demons remained hidden in the demonic fog, their true forms unseen.
Li Ping’an, Zixia, and Muqiang Baoshan were seeing demons of such massive size and varied appearances for the first time in their lives. Next to these six demons, the three of them seemed as tiny as kittens and puppies, already overwhelmed simply in terms of size and presence.
“Which one of you, that couple of dogs, is the immortal descended from the heavens? Which one is the Destined One who has come from afar?”
From these words, Li Ping’an immediately realized the Six Demons of Five Fingers Peak had come specifically for him, but how could he dare to admit it, how could he dare to expose his identity? So, he mustered up his courage and looked up as he replied,
“We are all ordinary people, none of us are immortals!”
“Ha ha ha ha! Excellent! Excellent! Then let’s savor the lot of you!”
The Six Demons laughed heartily and without worry, as Ear Hears Anger, positioned in the center, reached out to grab Zixia and Li Ping’an.
“Demon Monster, do not harm my protege!”
Zixia thrust her sword forward, and Muqiang Baoshan also drew his sword to block, joining battle with Ear Hears Anger.
Ear Hears Anger didn’t use any demon arts, simply using two meat palms the size of millstones to slap and beat erratically, and despite the exquisite swordsmanship of Zixia and Muqiang Baoshan, they could not inflict the slightest injury on Ear Hears Anger’s palms.
“Climbing Clouds!”
Muqiang Baoshan chanted a curse, and his feet lifted off the ground.
“Sword Control!”
Zixia fought with a sword underfoot and one in hand, soaring alongside Muqiang Baoshan to do battle with Ear Hears Anger.
Though Ear Hears Anger was gigantic, his movements were surprisingly agile, and even when hit by the swords of the two, his bronze skin remained unharmed.
What a battle, it left Li Ping’an completely stunned. Zixia’s sword techniques were fierce, Muqiang Baoshan’s sword techniques intricate, their aerial maneuvers like lightning, quick to attack and even quicker to retreat.
Ear Hears Anger attacked with brute force, and Zixia and Muqiang Baoshan, darting in and out of the fight, seemed like mere mosquitoes to him as he swatted at them like a black bear at flies.
For a time, neither could hurt the other, nor could either prevail.
“With just this one demon exhibiting such valor without even using spells, if all six were to attack together, Zixia and Muqiang Baoshan would surely be dead by now!”
Li Ping’an anxiously watched from the side, eager to help, but as the other five demons remained still, so did he prepare to remain motionless. At least for now, Zixia was not in mortal danger, and whether Muqiang Baoshan lived or died was of no concern to him.
