Chapter 33: Chapter 33: Let Me Take Care of You

Frank and Charles stared at each other, their jaws practically dropping. Under their breath, they repeated, "Hi, baby? ...Hi, baby?"

Adrian froze, his whole body going stiff. He sat there, pinned between the table and Matteo’s chest, his heart pounding as it hit him who was standing behind him.

Matteo.

Slowly, Adrian lifted his hand and touched the spot on his neck where Matteo had just kissed him.

In public.

He turned quickly to Matteo. "Matteo, stop," Adrian murmured, his face heating up, his ears turning red. "We’re in public!"

Matteo didn’t pull away. Instead, he leaned in closer, his lips brushing Adrian’s ear. "We’ve done much more than this in private, Adrian. Why are you suddenly so shy?"

Adrian’s eyes went wider. Before Matteo could say anything more scandalous, Adrian reached up and clamped his hand firmly over the mob boss’s mouth.

Matteo’s eyes softened with amusement as he gently pulled Adrian’s hand away, pressing a brief kiss to his palm before sliding into the booth beside him.

Frank and Charles looked like they were watching a ticking time bomb. They were terrified to even breathe, let alone look Matteo in the eye for more than a second.

Matteo ignored the tension, leaning toward Adrian. "How was work?"

"It was fine," Adrian replied, trying to sound casual while his friends looked like they were about to pass out.

"Did you miss me?" Matteo asked, his voice dropping into that dangerous, intimate silkiness.

Adrian rolled his eyes, trying to maintain some dignity. "I had no reason to miss you."

"Is that so?" Matteo smirked, leaning in so only Adrian could hear. But Frank and Charles still caught a bit of it. "When we get back, I’ll give you a few reasons... in bed. Does that sound okay?"

Adrian’s face exploded in a fresh wave of heat. He smacked Matteo’s chest and whispered sharply, "Shut up! Stop saying such nonsense!"

Across the table, Charles and Frank exchanged a knowing look. They didn’t say a word, but it was written all over their faces...so this is why you like him.

Adrian caught the look and frantically waved his hands. "No, no! Don’t mind him."

Matteo let out a dark chuckle and turned his gaze toward the two friends. They immediately looked down, their hands finding each other’s under the table for support.

"Calm down," Matteo said, his tone shifting to something more authoritative but strangely polite. "I actually came here specifically for you two."

Charles and Frank looked at each other. "F-for us?" Charles stammered.

Matteo nodded. "Yes."

Adrian nudged him with his elbow. "Just speak and be gentle. Don’t scare them."

"I’m being perfectly gentle," Matteo replied smoothly.

Then he turned to Charles and Frank, speaking slowly. "My baby’s birthday is coming up in a few days."

"Matteo!" Adrian murmured. "Stop calling me that."

"Fine," Matteo conceded with a smirk. "Adrian, my baby, is having his birthday in a few days."

Adrian rolled his eyes and sighed, deciding to just let him talk.

"I want to invite you both to come and celebrate with us," Matteo said. "At my private villa."

Frank and Charles looked at Adrian in pure shock. "You finally agreed to celebrate your birthday, Adrian?"

"Yes, he finally agreed," Matteo answered for him. He then shifted, offering a formal nod. "Nice to meet you both. I’m Matteo Marcone, Adrian’s boyfriend-to-be."

Neither of them dared to look at him or introduce themselves. They only nodded, fear clear on their faces.

"Enough," Adrian said, turning to his friends.

He looked at them, his expression softening into something sincere. "Please, come. I want you both there with me. I’ll feel better if you’re close by."

"Yes," Matteo added, his eyes locking onto theirs. "My baby wants you close, and I don’t want him to feel lonely while I have to run a few errands. So, you’re coming, right?"

Charles and Frank nodded vigorously. "Yes. We’ll be there."

Matteo turned to Adrian, looking quite pleased with himself. "See? Very simple."

Adrian didn’t respond. He glanced at his friends, the fear still lingering on their faces, and decided it was time to end this.

"Since you’ve invited them... we should head back now."

Matteo stood and held out his hand to Adrian. Adrian hesitated for a moment, noticing the stunned, uneasy looks around the restaurant, but then he reached out and took it.

"See you soon," Matteo told the pair.

Adrian gave a small wave. "Goodbye, guys."

The entire restaurant watched in stunned silence as the two of them walked out, Matteo’s bodyguards following closely behind. People couldn’t help but wonder who Adrian was, walking hand in hand with the Devil himself.

They whispered among themselves, confused and curious.

Only once the door clicked shut did Charles and Frank finally let out a long, shaky breath.

"Did you hear that?" Frank murmured. "He’s letting Matteo celebrate his birthday... but he never lets us do anything for him. We couldn’t even bring it up!"

Charles smiled, watching the spot where they had disappeared. "Our Adrian is in love, Frank. There’s no other explanation for it."

"That’s total nonsense," Frank muttered, though he couldn’t hide the small grin.

Charles leaned over, pitched his voice low, and teased, "Hi, baby."

Frank burst out laughing and shoved his shoulder. "Stop it! Seriously, stop!"

Meanwhile, inside the tinted privacy of the car, the atmosphere shifted.

As the car pulled away from the curb, Matteo reached out and pulled Adrian closer, pressing a soft, kiss to his forehead.

"Why was your sister at your place earlier?" Matteo asked, his voice casual, though his eyes searched Adrian’s face.

Adrian leaned back against the leather headrest. "It’s nothing serious... just family stuff. Don’t worry about it."

Matteo nodded, his thumb tracing the line of Adrian’s cheek. "Okay, babe."

Adrian shifted, cutting him a sharp look. "I told you, don’t call me that outside again. Especially not in front of my friends."

"Fine," Matteo said, a faint smirk tugging at his lips. "But can I call you that when it’s just us? When we’re behind closed doors?"

Adrian didn’t answer right away, choosing to stare out the window at the passing city lights instead.

"I’m going to kiss you if you don’t answer me, Adrian," Matteo said, his voice dropping low.

Adrian finally turned back and challenged him. "Then kiss me."

Matteo didn’t think twice. He leaned in, capturing Adrian’s lips in a deep kiss that left them both short of breath. When he finally pulled back just an inch, he murmured against Adrian’s mouth, "So... tell me. Can I call you that when we’re alone?"

Adrian let out a soft huff of surrender. "Suit yourself."

By the time they arrived back at Matteo’s house, the tension between them had built up too much to hold back.

Harry stepped forward and opened the car door. Matteo stepped out, then immediately reached back in, offering his hand to Adrian.

Adrian stayed where he was, looking up at him with a tired, playful pout. "I’m too lazy to walk inside."

"Is that so?" Matteo said, leaning in, his broad frame casting a shadow over Adrian. "Come here."

Adrian moved closer to the edge of the seat but didn’t get out yet. He watched, a little surprised, as Matteo suddenly knelt. Without a word, Matteo reached out, about to take off Adrian’s shoes.

"Are you crazy?" Adrian gasped, his eyes widening. "I was joking! Get up."

"Let me," Matteo said softly, his focus entirely on Adrian’s feet. "Just relax, okay?"

Adrian went quiet and didn’t stop him anymore.

Matteo set the shoes aside, then looked up, his expression calm but intense. "Climb on."

Matteo stood up and pulled Adrian out of the car, lifting him effortlessly. Adrian wrapped his legs around Matteo’s waist and his arms around his neck, holding onto him as Matteo carried him toward the entrance.

Harry and the other bodyguards watched in surprise but stayed focused.

Matteo and Adrian spoke in low whispers as they moved, and Adrian let out a genuine smile this time, not even trying to hide it.

Matteo’s hand wrapped around his waist.

The elevator ride passed in silence, thick with tension.

The moment they stepped into Matteo’s bedroom, the door hadn’t fully clicked shut before they crashed into each other.

They fell onto the bed, Matteo’s weight pressing Adrian into the mattress as they kissed, rough and urgent. Matteo’s hands moved quickly to Adrian’s shirt, fumbling with the buttons, his breath uneven against Adrian’s skin.

He pushed Adrian’s shirt open, leaning in toward his neck, then a sudden sharp knock at the door broke the moment.

"Sir," Harry’s voice came through the door, firm and professional, with a hint of urgency. "Sorry to interrupt, but you’re needed. It’s urgent, we have a situation that can’t wait."

Matteo didn’t stop. He buried his face in the crook of Adrian’s neck, his growl muffled against his skin. He clearly had no intention of letting go.

"Matteo," Adrian gasped, breathless, his hands moving to Matteo’s shoulders to gently push him back. "Stop. Go see what it is. We can... we can continue this when you’re back."

Matteo groaned under his breath, clearly frustrated, before pulling back. He pressed a firm kiss to Adrian’s forehead. "Stay here," he said, his eyes locking onto Adrian’s. "I’ll be back."

The moment the door clicked shut and Matteo’s footsteps faded down the hall, Adrian’s expression shifted. The haze of passion cleared, replaced by a sharp, burning curiosity. He scrambled off the bed, his heart hammering for a completely different reason now.

He rushed over to the drawer where he had spotted the pink diary earlier that morning. His fingers trembled as he pulled it open, his eyes scanning the rows of leather-bound files and heavy books.

He froze.

The space where the diary had been was empty. He moved the files aside, frantically searching behind the books, but it was gone. Everything else was exactly where he had left it, but the one thing he needed to see had vanished.

"I know I saw it," Adrian whispered to himself, his mind racing. "It was right here."

He was so lost in the sudden void of the drawer that he didn’t hear the door click open. He didn’t hear the silent footsteps across the plush carpet.

"What are you looking for, Adrian?"

Adrian flinched, his whole body jolting as he spun around.

Matteo was standing right behind him.
