Chapter 89: Ch 89: Preparing for Tea Party

[Dear Companion Shuu, welcome to the family.

I am writing this letter to remind you of your duties. As per customs, you will be in charge of hosting the next tea party that is to be held in 2 days. Please make sure all the preparations are made in time.

Sincerely,

Lady Sera (the future queen)]

Lady Sera’s letter was straightforward and left no room for others to guess her feelings on this matter.

Shuu felt a sudden headache taking him over as he read and re-read the letter. But he still had no idea what to do about the situation.

He had never held a tea party before, so he had no idea what he was supposed to do. Moreover, he had a feeling that he would be lacking no matter what he did.

Was it... even worth trying to do?

He was panicking, but the knocking at the door knocked him out of his daze, and he immediately looked at it before he went and opened it.

Princess Danielle stood on the other side of the door with a worried expression.

"Ah, how are you feeling now? I heard from the maids that you took a small walk and then got visited by a maid from Lady Sera’s section. Did anything happen?"

She asked, and Shuu felt a little better that someone had decided to check up on him.

"I am fine. Nothing truly happened. The maid just gave me a letter from Lady Sera."

Shuu tried to make light of the situation, but his words immediately made Lady Danielle become alert.

"A letter... Would you mind if I take a look?"

She asked, and Shuu had no reason to say no to her.

"Of course. Here, have a look."

He handed the letter to Princess Danielle, and she had a complicated look on her face the whole time she read it. Once she finished reading the letter, she put it down and gave Shuu a clear look.

"I will be frank with you. Have you ever hosted a tea party before? Do you know what to do?"

Princess Danielle’s earnest look made Shuu feel tongue-tied. He shook his head, and the princess sighed.

"I had a feeling. Then, please allow me to assist you. Since this is your first time, I would personally like to make sure everything goes perfectly."

Princess Danielle sounded and looked passionate.

Shuu had a feeling that there was no point in saying no to her. She would do what she wanted whether he wanted her to or not.

Besides, it was better for him to have an experienced worker with him, and Princess Danielle fit all the bills.

"Alright, I will leave it all to you. Please help me as much as you can." 𝗳𝐫𝚎𝗲𝚠𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝘃𝚎𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝗺

He told the princess, and she gave him an almost sinister smile.

"Good. Now, how about you leave Prince Caelis in the hands of my experienced maids while we go around and check on the chef and book them before it is too late."

"Wait a minute-! I don’t-! Caelis has never been away from me-!"

Shuu complained, but he was ultimately dragged away by the princess toward the kitchen. They had a lot they needed to do.

"-and these papers... Prince Kaiden, are you listening to me? What is wrong with you?"

Liam questioned as he looked at Prince Kaiden’s expression. The crown prince looked lost in his thoughts, and he was not even paying attention.

Liam had a feeling that he could say anything, and the crown prince would accept it and move on.

’Tsk, this is all Shuu’s fault. He has caused such a mess. I cannot even send him away now because of his son. Moreover, I have a feeling Prince Kaiden would do something foolish if I tried...’

Liam sighed as he tried to take care of the situation. He called Prince Kaiden a few more times to get his attention, only to be ignored.

Just as he was about to give up and head out, the door opened and a guard entered. He whispered something in Prince Kaiden’s ear, causing the crown prince to snap out of his daze.

Prince Kaiden suddenly turned toward Liam, and he felt his heart skipping a beat.

"Liam, what do you think Shuu would do if I were to lock him in his room so that no one else could see him? I can get him the best food and other things, and he won’t have to worry about running into people and getting hurt..."

Prince Kaiden kept on speaking. But the more he spoke, the more disturbed Liam felt

After all, no matter how much the prince was glazing and promised to keep Shuu well, in the end, he was speaking of locking up a human...

"I... don’t think Shuu will enjoy being locked up too much."

Liam pointed out, and Prince Kaiden paused and looked at him. The darkness in his eyes took Liam back, and for a second, he wondered if he was even looking at a human anymore.

But then, the prince smiled, and things went back to normal.

"Hmm, maybe you are right. And knowing Shuu, he won’t even say anything to me, even if he is feeling suffocated. But maybe if I do it slowly..."

Liam wanted to point out that it wouldn’t really help, but he decided to be quiet and let Prince Kaiden continue how he wanted to.

Since Prince Kaiden refused to listen to him anyway, he saw no point in continuing to advise him. As for Shuu...

’Sorry, I tried my best. But you caught the attention of a wild beast in a way I never expected. I no longer know how to help you out.’

Thinking back on it, Shuu never had a chance to run away from the crown prince, and Liam had a feeling that he would never have a chance to run away again either.

"Prince Kaiden, where are you going-"

Liam noticed a little too late that Prince Kaiden had stood up and was getting ready to leave.

"Well, I want to pay Shuu a visit. I heard that he is preparing for his first tea party, and I want to help out. You are free to come with me if you want to."

Liam stood still, and he suddenly had a bad feeling about all of this. Knowing Lady Sera’s influence and everyone’s reaction toward Shuu, it was clear what was going to happen.

But still, he hoped the servants were not foolish enough to behave rudely to him—especially when it was known just how much Prince Kaiden treasured him.
