A whole month passed in the blink of an eye, and before Shuu knew it, it was time for Prince Kaiden’s engagement.

He had still not come to terms with what he felt about all this, but there was one thing he knew-he could not ignore his feelings any longer.

It was finally time for him to put an end to it.

Besides, his health was not the best, and even the doctors were not sure what was wrong with him.

"Ugh, my stomach is killing me. How can I be sick for over a month and two weeks now? The doctor tells me that I am completely fine. So why do I feel like I will collapse any second?"

His face looked pale and lifeless, and there was a glow around him that seemed suspicious. Even Nero told him that he looked and felt weird.

But as much as he wanted to marvel at the hidden truths of the world and his life, he had no time to waste. The imperial carriage was going to come any second to take him to the imperial palace.

So he quickly put his veil back on and headed out.

Nero was waiting for him, and he extended his hand toward Shuu.

"Shall we get going now?"

Nero asked, and Shuu agreed. He placed his hand in the outstretched one, and they entered the carriage.

It jolted as it moved, causing Shuu to feel even sicker. But he made it to the palace somehow and braved his way inside.

The hall was decorated with all kinds of flowers and decorations. People were talking and laughing, having fun with each other.

But it all came to a halt as he and Nero entered.

Suddenly, there were too many eyes on him, and he felt scared of what he should do. So he stood still and waited in a corner.

Thankfully, no one approached him, not wanting to sour the mood of today’s party. And the ’special couple’s’ entry caused them all to forget his presence as well.

Prince Kaiden’s eyes went over the hall before they landed on him quickly, and Shuu let out a sigh of relief.

He saw Prince Kaiden taking a step toward him, but Sera stood in front of him and dragged him toward the cake section.

Shuu felt a little calmer after that, and he had an almost detached expression on his face as he tried to eat some things but failed to stomach it.

He walked back to the drink section, but as soon as he reached for a drink, he felt someone pushing him.

When he looked behind, there was no one there. What happened suddenly left a sour taste in his mouth, and he felt like he was being bullied.

But he decided to endure. Today was Prince Kaiden’s special day, so he did not want to make a mistake.

It was just a matter of a few hours. He could go home after that and rest.

Sera looked beyond happy as she stepped beside Prince Kaiden in her beautiful dress. It had taken a lot of effort to make and have it fit her in time.

It was not imperial silk, which was a letdown, but the money and effort spent on it made it more than worth it in her mind.

Prince Kaiden also felt happy to see her like this, but his eyes sought out someone else in the crowd. He relaxed once he saw that Shuu was present, but his simple clothes made Prince Kaiden uneasy.

’What is Shuu wearing? I sent him imperial silk to make clothes out of, but did he not get it? Or did he think it was too much and not want to use it on Sera’s special day? Still, he does look beautiful-’

Suddenly, Shuu was pushed, and Prince Kaiden saw red. He felt like he had to interfere before something happened to Shuu...

"We need to go this way. Father is calling for us. Prince Kaiden, are you listening to me?"

Sera asked, and Prince Kaiden quickly snapped out of his daze and flashed her a smile.

Prince Kaiden told her, and he stepped forward with her to show off their joined hands.

"Everyone, welcome and thank you for coming to our engagement party today. Today, I would like to make it a happy occasion and fulfil any request my future wife has."

He promised and turned to look at Sera next. It was her time to step forward, and she was excited.

After all, she knew exactly what she wanted.

"Everyone, thank you for your time and patience with me. I promise I will be a good queen to you all. And to show my care for you all, I want to give you a gift. The Demon King might be dead, but his shadows can still cause damage. So soon, I will send an expedition team to help people all over the world."

She spoke, and Prince Kaiden agreed with her that it was a good choice. Seeing this, she continued.

"However, it won’t be an ordinary expedition team. It will be led by our Crown Prince’s familiar, Nero, and will also have Prince Kaiden’s ex-companion, Shuu. I am sure the presence of those two will reassure everyone and give them peace of mind."
