[BL]The Hero and his Party Won't Let Me Go-Chapter 49: Ch : Two parts of the same
’Is Shuu... dead...? No way... I can still feel his presence... But where is he...?’
The hero looked around the shadows, his hand reaching into the mass under his feet to drag a body out.
Shuu looked drained, and his eyes were closed. His breathing was shallow, and his body seemed to have no warmth remaining. But he was alive, and that was all that mattered.
"Giveeee himmmm to usssss"
The shadows hissed at the crown prince, but he quickly smashed them under his feet. These low-lives did not deserve to land even a hand on Shuu’s body.
"Tsk, know your place."
His voice contained a mixture of holy and demonic power. The two powers felt like they were finally in harmony inside him, and he felt like he could do anything and nothing at the same time. 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝓮𝒘𝙚𝙗𝒏𝙤𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝒐𝙢
The shadows recoiled as the holy relic on Shuu’s arm finally started to do its job, and Shuu began to heal.
"Hmm, I should get you a relic that can do more than heal you. Hmm, you will look good adorned in holy relics all around."
Prince Kaiden’s voice was soft as he held Shuu. He felt calm and at peace finally, almost as if he had become complete.
But this did not feel like it was enough. Simply holding Shuu was not enough; he needed to make sure Shuu would never be able to leave him.
He had already marked Shuu in a way that wouldn’t allow Shuu to ever leave him, but there was still a lingering doubt in the back of his mind.
’Shuu is kind. He won’t be able to leave me if we have a connection. Maybe it is time for me to start thinking about an heir...’
It was his instincts talking, but Prince Kaiden did not see anything wrong with it. If anything, he felt more at peace than he ever had before. Everything told him that he was doing the right thing.
One of his hands landed on Shuu’s navel, right above his mark, and possessiveness sparked inside him.
"Don’t do anything foolish. You are not currently in control. You won’t even recall most of it after you calm down."
Nero warned the crown prince as he walked over to him. Nero was careful in his approach because he knew how someone affected by power could get.
But Prince Kaiden looked like he had not even heard Nero.
"Foolish? I think I am finally doing what I should have done a long time ago. Are you going to stop me?"
The crown prince asked, and Nero looked torn between letting him go and reaching for Shuu.
But in the end, he decided to trust Prince Kaiden because he could feel his emotions clearly.
"I know you will never hurt Shuu physically. However, I am not so sure about your emotional capability. After all, you don’t even realize your own emotions. But I also have no choice but to trust you with Shuu."
Nero’s words sounded ambiguous, and at a different time, Prince Kaiden would have taken time to decipher them.
But right now, he was riding the high of getting Shuu all to himself.
"Hmm, I will take Shuu to my nearby estate. Make sure you all follow as soon as you can."
Nero bit his lip.
"Are you... seriously going to mark Shuu with the curse? You won’t even recall anything, and I am bound by the contract not to say anything. What will happen to him once you... no, your other self abandons him?"
Nero asked, and the crown prince paused.
"Heh... I did know my family was aware of my presence. When did you find out that I was a different person from the crown prince you know?"
Prince Kaiden... no, the demon king asked with a smile on his face. All this time, his attention had yet to waver from Shuu’s sleeping face.
Nero wondered how much he should say regarding all this, but in the end, he decided to say what he knew.
"As you’re familiar, I knew it from the second that contract was made. So as you’re familiar, let me warn you once again: hold back your desire for Shuu. Otherwise, the only one who is going to get hurt is Shuu... unless... What are you planning?"
Nero asked as both Liam and Reina finally came close enough. He was sure that they had not heard anything that happened until now.
"You don’t have to worry about it. I have even more of a reason to break free of the cycle and never return compared to you all. Once I achieve my goal, I will leave this world and take Shuu with me. You won’t have to worry about him."
The demon smiled with Prince Kaiden’s face... no, calling the demon king another person would be wrong.
He was just the same soul, but split in half and with his own consciousness.
"W-What’s going on-"
Liam arrived first, but Prince Kaiden had already disappeared from the scene. Both Liam and Reina looked startled by this.
"It’s fine. He said he’s heading to the villa. We should continue on our journey."
Nero spoke, and Liam looked startled.
"Can you say a sentence?"
Nero ignored him and walked toward the carriage, which had somehow survived all this.
"I will recharge the carriage, and we can head toward our next destination. But... are you sure Shuu would be fine? He was in that monster’s hold for quite some time. What if he suffers permanent damage?"
She asked, and Nero had no answer for her.
Liam was the one who answered her.
"It will be fine. And even if he is not fine, he just needs to hang on until the end of this journey. We are near the end, right? Once it’s all over, he can live a quiet life."
Now that, Nero doubted. Especially if the feeling he was getting from Prince Kaiden was right. Things were about to become so much more troublesome now.
"Oh shit-! I will have to write a report about this, won’t I? What do I even write...?"
"Don’t."
That was the only advice Nero gave Liam before he joined Reina and started working on the carriage.
"Tsk, as if it is that easy..."
Liam complained, but joined the three as well, unaware of what disaster Prince Kaiden was about to throw all their way.
