"Rin, Caelis, would you like to take a walk outside the imperial palace? Of course, we need to keep it a secret from others. So, what do you say?"

Shuu asked as he looked at the two kids in front of him. Two pairs of adorable eyes looked back at him from innocent faces.

"Go out? I wanna go out."

Caelis agreed with a determined look on his face, but Rin looked a little scared. It made Shuu’s heart soften, and he reached out to pat Rin’s head.

"It will be fine, Rin. No one will bother us outside. I promise you this."

Shuu promised the kid, and Rin finally gave a shy nod.

"A-Alright..."

He agreed, and Shuu grabbed his hand. He put the necklaces that had been gifted to him by Prince Kaiden on the kids to hide their identities as well as his own. Their striking features turned into ordinary and dull ones.

He left his room quietly, and no one bothered to stop him. In fact, most of the servants were avoiding his wing for a few days now.

Shuu knew he should feel concerned about it, but he felt more free than concerned. He did not have to worry about being judged by the staff when they were never around.

The only thing that concerned him was that Princess Danielle was also hard to spot these days. But he chalked it up to her being busy.

All this combined made sneaking out of the imperial palace too easy.

This was Shuu’s first time outside like this, and the freedom felt nice. He felt like he could move around and do anything.

But of course, he had no freedom because he had two kids to look after.

"Look, Shuu-! A puppy-!"

Caelis dragged Shuu after him until they reached the puppy he was pointing at-a small white fluff. And somehow, Caelis was fast enough to reach the puppy before it could get away.

"Shuu, it’s cute. Keep?"

Caelis asked with his wide eyes that looked too much like his own. But there was only one answer to give here.

"No, we cannot bring a pup back with us. Its mother would be looking for it."

Shuu reminded the kids, and even Rin looked a little bummed out as they let the puppy go.

’Should I get them a puppy?’

As soon as that thought came to his mind, Nero’s image flashed across Shuu’s mind. He did not even know why he thought of Emperor Kaiden’s familiar like this, but it surprisingly fit well.

But speaking of Nero...it had been some time since he last saw him.

From what Nero had told him, he had to leave for some diplomatic matters, and it had been two months ago. It was about time he returned...

"Ah, sweets. Shuu, can we get some?"

Caelis asked, and Shuu relented and allowed them to line up for some sweets.

Being out here made Shuu’s mind rest easy. He felt calm, and the white noise was nice as well. The only thing he did mind was the unneeded company.

Shuu was in disguise, but it was still easy to tell that he was from a well-off family. So it did not take long for someone to show interest in him.

A delicate-looking female sat beside him and tried to touch his hand. When Shuu pulled his hand back a little, she got even bolder and sat even closer.

"Young master, are you alone? Are you looking after your nephews? Why not let me help you out?"

The female asked in a low voice as she pressed her body against Shuu’s. She was not willing to take ’no’ for an answer from him. But Shuu immediately took a step back from her.

"I do not need any help. And I am not looking after my nephews. These are my kids...I should take my leave now..."

Shuu’s instincts told him that he should leave now before things could get messy. So he stood up to leave, only for the unknown female to reach out and grab his arm.

"Ah, so you have already fathered two kids? What about their mother? Is she no longer around? In that case, please allow me to help you out. These kids will need a mother, right? Then I can-"

"No-! Leave Shuu alone."

Caelis noticed what was happening and ran over to Shuu. Rin followed with a hesitant look but clutched Shuu’s legs as well.

"Stay away-!"

Caelis’s voice was tense and unforgiving. He was telling the unknown female that she was not welcome here.

"Y-Young master, don’t be like that. Aren’t I beautiful? I promise I will treat you right if you give me a chance. Why don’t you try thinking of me as your mother-"

"No-! Mother is Shuu. Shuu, go home!"

Caelis demanded, and Shuu could feel everyone looking at him with amused expressions.

He did not mind people’s looks, but the kids were innocent and needed to be protected.

So he grabbed Caelis and Rin and decided to take his leave.

"Alright, it’s time for us to leave now. Say your goodbyes, and we can go now."

Shuu reminded the kids, but they did not move from his side. They continued to glare at the female until she was out of sight.

"Tsk, Shuu, I don’t like town. Let’s take Kaiden next time."

Caelis demanded, and Shuu let out a small chuckle before he agreed.

"Alright."

He said this more to stop Caelis’s temper tantrum than actually wanting to follow through with it. After all, the emperor was too busy to make time for these visits, and Shuu did not want to force him to do something he did not want to do.

They walked toward the carriage they needed to take back home when Shuu suddenly felt his eyes turn toward a dark corner. An old lady sat there, her eyes looking directly at Shuu as he walked by.

Something in him told him to walk toward her, and he decided to kneel in front of the old lady with an uncertain expression.
