Chapter 356: 356: Promise

Leo had a grand mansion in a distant land, one that stood alone in a beautiful scenery surrounded by gardens and lakes.

It was a grand mansion located in a distant city that many didn’t know about. The building wasn’t in the bustling heart of the city, but rather in a secluded and peaceful area. One where the sound of the birds chirping was the most prominent sounds heard.

It was a retreat space for Leo—somewhere he came when he wanted to be alone and rest. And that was the place he brought them to hide from the Emperor.

The night they arrived, they took Elvis and Lysander to different rooms. They were given their medication and put to sleep.

Princess Cordelia was also taken to a room where she was given some medication and allowed to rest.

Everyone was already exhausted after the long journey, so they retired to their different rooms to rest for the next day.

Eden decided to visit Elvis and Lysander that night. He also wanted to use the opportunity to hasten their healing.

He first went to Elvis’s room.

Elvis was sound asleep in bed, so Eden stood beside the bed, staring at him. Eden had a broad smile on his face as he watched him sleep.

He missed him. He couldn’t remember the last time he got to see his face like this. Seeing it again made him happy and gave him a sense of comfort.

He sat down on the bed, running his hands through Elvis’s hair while watching him sleep. He recalled those eyes that had met his when he went to the prison.

Those excited eyes. It was clear that Elvis had been looking for him everywhere, waiting for him long enough to have that sort of expression when he saw him.

Eden recalled it all, and it made him smile.

He brushed his fingers through Elvis’s hair as he muttered, "I missed you..."

Suddenly, Elvis’s hand came up and held onto Eden’s, gripping firmly even in his sleep. Eden stared at his face and smiled.

He let Elvis hold his hand while he used his powers to hasten his healing from the internal and external injuries.

He took his time with him. After over an hour, Elvis had let go of his hand.

Eden ran a hand through his hair again, smiling. "Sleep tight..." He leaned closer and pressed his lips against Elvis’s forehead.

Afterward, he got to his feet and left the room.

Lysander was also fast asleep when Eden arrived at his room. His face was bruised.

Eden sighed. "Poor boy..." He walked over and sat down beside the bed, staring at his injuries. "I can’t believe that jerk hurt you like this..."

Eden ran his fingers gently over the bruises on Lysander’s face. "I’m sorry it happened..." He bit his lower lip as he brought his hands up to Lysander’s hair, combing through it while watching him sleep.

Eden stared at his bruised face with a soft smile as he said, "It must have been so hard on you..."

"I’m sorry you had to witness any of that. I’m sorry you had to witness your father’s death and your mum...." He sighed. "It must all have been difficult for you..."

He sighed as he added, "Thanks for having my side... It must have been hard... thanks..."

Lysander took Eden’s hand in his, gently pressing it against his eyes as he slowly opened them.

Their eyes met as Lysander smiled. "I would take your side no matter what. Even if it happened a thousand times... I’ll always take your side."

Eden smiled. "You’re awake?"

"Mmm," Lysander nodded. "I’m having a hard time falling back asleep after waking up an hour ago..." He looked around. "Where are we?"

Eden smiled. "Don’t worry about that. We’re in a safe space now. So don’t worry."

Lysander nodded with a smile as he stared at Eden. "Sure. As long as you say so."

Lysander held onto Eden’s hand firmly as he stared at his slender fingers. "It’s been so long since I’ve seen you... Missed you so much. I even thought I wouldn’t meet you anymore." He looked at him. "I was scared I wouldn’t."

They stared at each other with soft, tender smiles.

Lysander added, "But knowing that you also missed me makes me happy."

"Is that so?" Eden ran his other hand through Lysander’s hair. "Then that’s good."

Lysander stared at Eden with a smile, his eyes fixed on him.

"What? Why are you staring at me like that? Is there something on my face?" Eden asked.

Lysander shook his head, still smiling. "No. There’s nothing. I’m just admiring how pretty you’ve gotten. Especially with the new silver hair."

Eden smiled. "What’s that?"

"It’s true. I’m admiring your pretty face and savoring it in my mind, in case something terrible happens and I don’t see you again. So I can always remember how pretty you are."

Eden stared at him with a smile. "You don’t have to worry about that, then." He ran his palm gently over Lysander’s cheek. "I won’t be leaving anymore..."

Lysander stared at him. "Are you sure about that...?" He sounded hopeful.

Eden smiled with a nod. "Yes. I am."

Lysander struggled to sit up in bed. In the process, he could feel pain through his body. "Ouch..."

"What are you doing...? Lay down, you don’t have to sit up," Eden insisted.

Lysander insisted. He sat up in bed as he stared at Eden, still holding his hand. "Then do you promise? That you won’t leave anymore?"

Eden chuckled softly. "Sure. I promise. I won’t leave your side anymore."

Lysander stared at him and then said, "Then seal it with a kiss."

Eden raised an eyebrow. "Huh?"

Lysander placed a hand over his own lips. "I’ve missed your lips after so long. I want to kiss you again. So kiss me and seal the promise that you won’t leave me again," he insisted as Eden smiled back at him.

"Okay."
