"Bye bye!" Julian and Amanda waved goodbye to Arcane as he left to school. ππ£π²ππ¨π²ππ»πΌπ―π²π.π°ππ¦
"Donβt open the door for strangers. Take good care of Amanda, Julian," he said, then closed the front door.
Blam!
Seeing that Arcane had left, Julian and Amanda exchanged glances and smiled broadly.
"Do you want to draw today?" he asked, and she nodded her head in response.
"Yes, yes!" she replied enthusiastically.
Julian casually lifted Amandaβs body and went to the living room to draw and spend the day together.
The two of them sat on the carpet, scribbling in their sketchbooks with crayons and colored pencils. Amanda even drew Julian and Arcane.
"This one in the middle is me. This is Julian, and this is Arcane!" she said innocently, showing him her drawing.
The word "Friends" written on the paper was enough to make Julian feel so happy. He hugged the girl and kissed her forehead.
To give her a small gift, he took Amanda to a convenience store not far from their house. With a joyful face, Amanda ran to the front door and tried to put on her shoes. She couldnβt wait to buy ice cream.
Julian checked the list of foods Amanda could and couldnβt eat, and luckily she could eat ice cream.
Walking towards the minimarket, they held hands and swung their arms. They looked just like a young father taking his daughter out to buy snacks.
"Julian, I want this!" Amanda took one of the chips from the shelf, her favorite potato chips.
"You like that one? Of course you can have it!" he replied.
One by one, they picked up snacks and put them in the basket. Several people in the minimarket watched them with surprised looks.
It wasnβt because the two of them didnβt look alike, but because they were buying so many snacks. Even one shopping basket looked so full.
"We want to buy all of this!" said Julian as he placed the basket on the cashierβs counter.
"We want to buy everything!" Amanda followed what he said while pointing to their shopping basket.
The cashier on duty at the time laughed softly at Amandaβs cute behavior. He then counted all the items they had purchased and handed them the shopping bags.
The two of them then went home with all the snacks they had bought to enjoy at home.
That afternoon, Arcane came home from school and found his husband and Amanda asleep on the carpet with colored pencils and crayons scattered around them.
The same went for the snack wrappers and ice cream bowls they had bought earlier.
"They had fun all day, didnβt they? They even slept soundly because they were so tired. What can i do?" he muttered.
One by one, he carried them and laid them on the bed. Arcane then rolled up his sleeves and cleaned the living room of all the mess Julian and Amanda had made.
Until he found a piece of paper that Amanda had drawn of herself, Julian, and the girl. His reaction was the same as Julianβs, smiling when he saw it.
"If itβs like this, how can I let her go? Even though she had only been with Julian for one day. But it seemed like they had already formed a very close relationship," he said.
After tidying up the mess in the living room, he prepared to make dinner.
On the other hand, Julian finally woke up from his sleep when he heard a noise from the kitchen. He glanced at the wall clock, which showed that it was already 6:23 p.m.
"I must have fallen asleep. Arcane must have come home and brought me and Amanda here," Julian said, still half asleep, rubbing his eyes.
He turned to his side, only to find her still sleeping soundly. Slowly, he got out of bed to go to the kitchen and meet his husband.
There, Arcane was making dinner for the three of them. He immediately approached him, standing behind him, which Arcane immediately noticed.
"Why didnβt you wake me up? I could have helped you make dinner," he asked.
"I just didnβt want to disturb your sleep. You both looked exhausted after having fun all day. So it was better not to wake you up," he replied, then kissed Julianβs temple.
He then asked about Julian and Amandaβs daily lives. At that moment, the man recounted everything he had done with the little girl, and it was very enjoyable.
He felt like he was a father, taking care of his little girl and playing with her. This made Julian not want this day to end.
As Arcane had predicted, Julian would definitely find it difficult when Amanda returned to her parents.
"I know it must be a lot of fun. But you also have to remember that Amanda will return to her familyβs home someday."
The smile on Julianβs face faded as he recalled this. Arcane hated this because it made the smile on his husbandβs face disappear. However, Julian had to realize that Amanda still had her own family.
And sure enough, after three days of Amanda staying with them, Clara and her husband came to pick up their daughter.
"Itβs time to go home, Amanda." Clara picked up her daughter, then thanked Julian and Arcane for watching her.
"Itβs nothing. Weβre actually happy to have helped you."
Julian then approached Amanda and held her tiny hand. "Finally, you can go home. But we can play again another time, remember? Our houses are next door to each other."
"Yes, yes!" She nodded enthusiastically, then hugged her motherβs neck because she was starting to feel sleepy.
Toni, her husband, gave them some money as a token of gratitude. At first, Julian wanted to refuse it, but he insisted because he was sure his daughter had spent a lot of money while she was with them.
After they finally returned home, Julianβs smile faded and he sat down weakly in the living room. He looked around the living room, which was so quiet without Amanda, who usually ran around and sat watching cartoons.
"It feels so lonely without her." He sighed and pulled his legs into his arms.
Arcane followed behind, finding his husband sitting with a sad expression, as if he had lost his spiritβthe little girl.
"Donβt be so sad. I know this is hard for you, but we have no other choice. They are her biological parents. But... I think thereβs one way to make you feel better."
"What is it?" He turned to Arcane and looked into her eyes with a hopeful gaze.
"Of course, adopting a child."
