Chapter 109: Taking Good Care of Them

Considering that Arcane couldn’t leave Stefano and Sofia alone with their maid, he decided to stay at his father’s house for a while. He would take over his father’s duties, such as taking them to school and doing other things.

Julian also wanted to help him, so he joined Arcane in staying at the house for a while and accompanying Sofia and Stefano after they came home from school.

They claimed that this was Donald’s order to look after the two of them. Because of that, the siblings didn’t feel suspicious at all.

"Then I have to go home now. I’ll be back tomorrow morning as usual," said Jane, the maid.

She then explained that she usually came around 6:00 a.m. and left after 9:00 p.m. That was why Julian and Arcane stayed there to accompany Stefano and Sofia.

"All right, thank you for working today."

The two men then walked into the guest room, where they slept while staying at the house. Julian tidied up the remaining clothes still left in the suitcase and put them in the closet.

He also prepared clothes for Arcane to wear tomorrow morning when he went to teach as usual.

Actually, he was still worried about Arcane going to work because his arm was still not fully healed.

However, he couldn’t be away from teaching for too long. Especially now that there was chaos at school over what had happened to Donald. He had to set the record straight, even if it meant letting them know that what had happened was related to him.

"I have to keep teaching as usual after they begged me not to leave the school. I’m sure you saw how my students stopped me from leaving," he said.

"But are you sure you can do it? You even had a little trouble driving the car earlier. Now you also have to take your two younger siblings to school," Julian asked back worriedly.

Arcane replied that his arm wasn’t really that painful anymore, it just felt a little stiff when he moved it. He was sure he would be fine and could take Stefano and Sofia to school.

Knowing that Arcane could be very stubborn, Julian had no choice but to let him do it. But he also asked Arcane to teach him how to drive, so that if a situation like this happened again, he could take his place.

The next morning, Arcane wore a black shirt and his red tie. He was getting ready to go to work.

"Then I have to leave right away. I’m sure they’re waiting for me now."

The two of them left the guest room and headed for the front door. There, Stefano and Sofia were already getting ready to put on their shoes to go to school.

The girl turned to Arcane and Julian, waving her hand enthusiastically to greet them.

"Good morning, Mr. Romano and Mr. Julian!" she said cheerfully.

"Just call me Julian, I don’t mind." Julian smiled as he approached them.

"Same here. You can call me Arcane now. No need to be too formal." He felt that his role at the moment was not that of a private tutor, but rather their older brother.

So he wanted them to just call him by his name, even though they didn’t know the truth until today.

"Okay, so Arcane will take us to school again?" asked Stefano as he straightened his school tie.

"Yes, I’ll take you in my car while your father is still in the hospital," replied the red-haired man.

The two teenagers nodded their heads, while Julian slightly tidied up her hair. Sofia was so happy because usually only her father helped her style her hair, and now Julian was doing it for her.

The three of them then left the house, which was now empty except for Julian.

"I hope nothing else bad will happen. This is already more than enough for us to deal with," he muttered.

After they left, this time it was Julian’s turn to get ready to go to the hospital and check on Donald. He had already told Arcane that he would be the one to visit his father in the hospital.

Fortunately, he had passed the critical stage, although he was still in a coma. He was transferred to a regular ward so that other family members could visit him. He shared this good news with Arcane that day. 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝒆𝔀𝒆𝙗𝓷𝒐𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝓶

"Good morning, Mr. Stamford. I’m here again today to check on you," he said cheerfully, trying to get Donald to wake up.

The doctor said that even though he was in a coma, at that stage they could still hear what other people were saying. Therefore, they had to be encouraged more often to wake up soon. Give them hope and a reason to return to life.

There he sat in his chair, starting to talk about his two children’s activities as usual.

"Sofia said she’s going to enter a poetry competition. She said she really wants you to see her recite her poem. The competition will be held in a week!"

"Then Stefano got an A+ on his math test after Arcane helped him the night before. He was so happy, and Arcane bought him a skateboard as a reward. Stefano looks even more excited!"

He kept talking about the two children to him, even though Donald didn’t respond at all. But he was sure that the man was listening to what he was saying about his children.

Finally, Julian started talking about Arcane lately. He talked about what if Arcane had nightmares about what happened a few days ago, especially when Donald protected him from Alina.

"Even though his spirit has returned, I can still feel that he continues to blame himself for what happened. Especially since he has turned the incident into a nightmare in his head," he explained.

He sighed, feeling so sad and hurt every time he remembered the empty gaze Arcane had lately. He was very sure that his husband was still thinking about the incident, especially how it all ended.

Gently, Julian took Donald’s hand and held it as if he were his own father. Feeling that Arcane could treat Louis as his own father, he could also treat Donald as his father.

"I don’t know what’s holding you back from waking up from your current state. But I want you to know that if you can hear what I’m saying, please come back. Not just for Arcane, but Stefano and Sofia need you too."

He gently rubbed the back of his hand, then pressed his forehead against his knuckles.

"They’re still too young to lose you. Even Arcane was hurt again, when after I saw how happy he was spending time with you."

"So... please wake up."
