(BL) Mafia Love; He who falls the hardest loses-Chapter 165: I’m fine
As he approached the cars ignoring the police officers apprehending the truck driver, he prayed silently that those in the wrecked cars were safe.
It was one thing to keep himself protected, but it was another thing to use his fellow humans as a shield. He knew he wouldn’t be able to accept the guilt if they died.
They called out to the person in the car. There was no one in the driver’s seat of the second car. Hiroshi looked around but no one was there. He looked down at his phone and immediately called his lawyer.
"The car was controlled?" he asked, hoping for a positive answer.
"Yes, it was," his lawyer’s voice came from the other end.
Hiroshi could finally sigh in relief. No blood was shed. He wasn’t sure about the legalities surrounding it but no one died, no one was severely injured, no one was injured at all and only the car was wrecked.
Since he was basically the only victim in the accident, he was transported to the hospital in the ambulance his lawyer sent.
Through the ride, he felt his body relax after the mentally stressful incident. He was sure he had no injury but he knew it was only right that he get tested and rest.
It was near death experience and although he survived without any injury, it left him deep in thought.

Kiyoshi who was working on the task Haruki had assigned to him heard his phone vibrate on the table beside the desktop he was working with.
He picked up his phone and the number on the screen was a foreign number he immediately recognised as the number he saw on the card Hiroshi’s lawyer gave him.
He leaned away from his work desk and picked up the call without hesitation. "Hello," he said as soon as he brought his phone to his ear.
"Hello," the man responded. "Dr. Yamamoto was involved in an accident. It was an attempted assassination."
He had seen Hiroshi last night and this morning when he came downstairs to get Haruki’s breakfast. To think that the same man had almost lost his life when they saw each other less than two hours ago, sent chills down his spine.
"Any severe injuries?" Kiyoshi asked seriously.
"None," the lawyer replied. "A truck driver was arrested, I am yet to find out who damaged his brake and gear in your house."
Kiyoshi could easily understand the rage of the lawyer. To think of such a thing happening to Haruki, he knew he wouldn’t be half as nice and respectful as the lawyer was to him.
Hiroshi’s car was altered in the house, it was not hard to imagine who had allowed it to happen. Ren had eyes everywhere in the house so either he had ordered it to be done or he had looked the other way when he found out.
Whatever it was, Ren was an accomplice to what happened to Hiroshi. He was not surprised by what he discussed with Haruki on their way to work.
When the call ended, he walked to Haruki’s office ignoring the email he was about to send to a couple of reporters.
He knocked on the door and was invited in.

After getting rested, Hiroshi remembered something vital. He picked up his phone and called his lawyer.
"Keep the news of the accident from Haruki," Hiroshi hurriedly ordered ignoring all need to exchange greetings.
"I have informed his assistant unfortunately."
Hiroshi felt a strong urge to reprimand his lawyer maybe cut his pay or something but he pulled the phone away from his ear and hung up knowing he would most likely speak very harshly considering the rage overflowing at the moment.
He looked down at the phone deliberating on whether to call Haruki or not. He was not sure how Haruki would receive the news. Haruki had pushed him away verbally for his safety.
He was not sure he would be able to avoid a separation if Haruki heard about the accident. He put his phone aside and decided to plan how he would talk to Haruki after the day’s work.
He hoped his plans to beg would work because that was the only thing he could decide to do. It was all about persuading Haruki to let him stay by his side even after the accident.
"Brother," Aki’s voice called out even before he opened the door.
Hiroshi raised his head to look at his brother who rushed into the room towards him.
"Father told me what happened. Are you okay?"
Hiroshi wondering what his father had warranted such intense worry from Aki, nodded slightly before looking behind Aki to see Miyoko.
"Hello. Are you okay?" she asked half raising her hand awkwardly to give him a small wave.
"I am fine. Aki must have exaggerated it." Seeing that Miyoko came along, Hiroshi could guess how much Aki must have been worried to drag her along with him, he could only pity the lady.
"No, I did not. Father said you were involved in an accident and your car would have to be totalled," Aki said checking Hiroshi all over for injuries.
"I am fine," Hiroshi had to stress on the last word since Aki seemed to have believed what he wanted to.
Aki only nodded when he was sure that Hiroshi was fine. "I thought I lost you or you lost a couple of limbs," Aki sighed in relief before sitting down.
"We forgot to bring any gifts because we were in a hurry. I hope you don’t mind?" Miyoko who had sat down beside Aki asked.
"I don’t mind," Hiroshi replied sincerely. "Aki must have dragged you along, I am sorry about that," Hiroshi apologized glancing at his brother before looking at Miyoko.
"What is wrong about coming with her?" Aki asked in his defence before Miyoko could respond.
His words only made Hiroshi shake his head and say, "Since you’re around, get me warm water," Hiroshi said happy with the livened atmosphere that made him forget what he was stressing about a few minutes ago.
"I guess this is your vengeance, right?" Aki grunted standing up with a slight frown on his face.
"This? This is nothing I will leave the hospital today. It is nothing compared to what you went through then," Hiroshi responded remembering how sick Aki was when he arrived at his house and how much time it took Aki recover.
Aki snorted a reluctant agreement as he brought a bottle of water to Hiroshi. There was no way he could deny the care his brother had taken when nurturing him back to health.
There was a knock on the door. The person was invited to Aki who seemed to have become the host of the room.
Kiyoshi walked in holding a bouquet of flowers and a basket of fruits. Hiroshi looked back hoping to see Haruki come in but it was only Kiyoshi.
He felt very disappointed but there was nothing he could truly do about it. He told himself that Haruki must have been too busy and the separation he dreaded hadn’t happened and he would meet Haruki later.
Kiyoshi only said perfunctory and predictable things excluding all Hiroshi had hoped to hear. Even as Kiyoshi indicated he wanted to leave, he could not bring himself to ask the man where Haruki was.
"Tell him I am fine. I was not injured at all and I only stayed here to rest. I will leave in the evening. I will go to him when I leave," Hiroshi said firmly. Haruki hadn’t sent Kiyoshi to tell him to stay away and that was enough for him not give up.
Kiyoshi didn’t refuse to deliver the message but didn’t confirm that he would tell Haruki as he left after a couple of words.
"Brother, Haruki didn’t come to visit you?" Aki asked in disbelief before adding, "He must be very busy." ***
"He was not injured. He said he’ll come over today," Kiyoshi delivered the message trying not to look at Haruki through the rear mirror.
"Okay," Haruki replied calmly.
"Should I order them to stop him?" Kiyoshi asked.
Haruki held back a sigh to keep his calm façade. "Yes," he replied after seconds of silence.
Haruki heard a detailed report about the accident. Hiroshi was meant to die but he was narrowly cheated of death thanks to the people his lawyer had watching over him.
It was very similar to one of the services Haruki’s security company offered if it was not sourced to his company and he could easily imagine how everything went.
Whoever planned it, had set up a plan B to kill Hiroshi if he escaped despite his malfunctioning car. Haruki knew that plan C and D, which he knew nothing about might be in motion and having the doctor around him would enrage the people he wanted to kill.
He was without a solid plan but after hearing the news of Hiroshi’s accident, Haruki had made up his mind to kill those involved in it, from the truck driver to Aiichiro.
As soon as they got home, he went to his study and called for Ren. Ren came in calmly as though he hadn’t heard about Hiroshi’s accident.
