(BL) Mafia Love; He who falls the hardest loses-Chapter 156: The man he wants
The cliché of the man’s words made him unable to believe what he heard. These were things he believed he could never hear in his life.
"What do you mean?" Haruki asked.
"That is simple," Aiichiro said as he leaned closer. "Break up with him if you don’t want him to end up like Shinya."
"What makes you think I will be with you simply because I end things with you?"
"I would rather watch you marry a woman, have kids and live happily ever after than watch you be with another man. I am okay watching from afar."
"You have lost your mind."
"Yes, no one asked you to look so beautiful," Aiichiro smirked.
Haruki who thought after he spoke with Hiroshi he had gotten over the hate of being called beautiful but hearing it from Aiichiro felt disgusting.
"I am okay watching from afar, as long as you don’t let another man do what I want to do with you."
To think he had the guts to forget someone as powerful as Aiichiro was among his admirers, Haruki could not help but blame himself for the negligence.
"I will lay all my cards for you to see, there’s no need to hide them anymore."
Haruki remained still because with all these, he was not sure about how to react.
"I know you sent Ren to investigate. I am sure you know how deeply I have infiltrated your territory. Some of your men work for me and you’re no longer powerful enough to know who they are.
"You always thought you were at the top and had everything under your control but you’re wrong, I am in control of the power you wield. I will do nothing if you end your relationship with that man but if you continue, I will either force you to make drastic decisions.
"You’ll destroy what is left of your reputation with your own hands. When you are left with nothing, you’ll come crawling to me then I will have you kill the doctor with your own hands."
Haruki listened to the many threats the man had and he knew that although he was unwilling to accept that he had become that powerless, the man was not bluffing.
"Don’t try to fight me back," Aiichiro warned his voice characteristically soft.
Yes, this was perhaps the reason why he had not bothered remembering the man even with the powerful background the man had, Aiichiro was a soft-spoken man who seemed very docile and obedient, as though he was living in the shadows.
Haruki blamed himself for thinking it had all ended after that rejection after all, a man who took the risk to get involved with the underworld to be powerful enough to become the heir was not someone he should forget.
For the first time in his life, Haruki felt his doom slowly arriving. He felt like a puppet, a weakling. Was there someone more powerful than him? He had never believed there was until he met Aiichiro again.
He had not been exaggerating his worries when he lost sleep and spent hours with the investigation reports and investigating things himself.
His heart raced and pounded. He wondered if he should give in after all, it was just a male lover and the man would not step in when he got married as planned.
Seeing Haruki was experiencing a jumble of so many thoughts battling in his mind, Aiichiro rose up. He stretched casually.
Haruki hated having to lift his head to look at the man so he stared at the empty glass of wine on the table. "I will give you two weeks to think about it. I know you have feelings for him so parting might not be very easy but you need to do it."
When the man exited the room, Haruki looked down at his hands. For the first time in a few months, he felt pure bloodlust but the person he wanted to kill was Aiichiro, the first person to dare destroy his life, the first man to threaten him.
He swallowed as he touched the gun he had hidden in his pants. The cold metal seemed to refuse to warm up from his body warmth. He swallowed wondering why he had not put it to use when the man began threatening him.
Kiyoshi knocked lightly and slid open the supposed wall on the side of the room. The last thing he wanted was to have a witness to his downfall and powerlessness.
He sighed and placed the gun on the table. "Do you think he is capable of doing what he claimed he would do?"
"Yes, I think so," Ren rose up and replied.
Haruki moved his gaze from Ren who was still in the other room and met Kiyoshi’s gaze.
"Yes, I think he can."
Haruki scoffed and rubbed his brow. If his mentor and assistant believed the man could do it, then he was dealing with a very dangerous opponent. It was an opponent he could not use the law against, one he could not fight dirty, the underground way.
They could not find a single thing they could successfully use against the man while the man knew so much about them and had infiltrated their organisation.
"So, what do you suggest we do?"
"Agree with him for now until we ensure we have investigated everyone deeply to take control once again."
Haruki glared at Ren for his response. He had asked them to investigate everyone in his organization and all those they found wanting were those who had connections with other organisations or were syphoning funds for their personal use, they found nothing connected to Aiichiro.
The suspicions they got after investigating Aiichiro, were not enough to prove how deeply the man had infiltrated his organization and the only things that made the man suspicious were his intuitions.
He and Ren relied on the moment of suspicion they got when they met Aiichiro. It could easily have been overlooked if they had not found the first evidence pointing to Aiichiro’s underground organisation.
He remembered having the same suspicion after his grand uncle died somethings had seemed weird then. Souta who had refused to speak before about what he experienced spoke about it. He could only conclude that the man wanted him to know that was why he got to know.
To think that he would never have known what was happening if the man didn’t want to, made him feel uncomfortable. He maintained a calm countenance as he rose up. 𝒻𝘳ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝒷𝘯ℴ𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝑐ℴ𝑚
"Are you going to obey him?" Kiyoshi asked cautiously.
"Obey?" Haruki asked. The word was so difficult to pronounce despite how simple it rolled off his tongue. Has he ever had to obey anyone?
"We are dealing with someone very dangerous and for the sake of the family, I think we should back off for now until we are strong enough to defend ourselves," Ren who could guess Haruki’s thoughts right had to warn Haruki.
He held back from voicing his blame on the doctor. It seems the doctor has finally caused them real trouble.
Haruki glared at his mentor. "What were you doing when he infiltrated our organization and now you are asking me to go against what you taught me?"
"A retreat should be done when necessary. I will bring you his head as long as we are strong enough to do it."
Haruki pressed his lips together knowing there was no need to blame anyone for what happened. The man had already built a distrust of his subordinates in him, if he began doubting Kiyoshi and Ren, then he would as well serve the man his head on a silver platter.
However, he didn’t feel the need to obey the man. How could someone who has not lived under the command of someone else for years suddenly want to do so?
He walked out of the room feeling suffocated staying in the same space the man was. He returned to the main house to the doctor waiting for him.
He could notice Kiyoshi and Ren’s gaze on him as he walked into the elevator to go upstairs but he didn’t bother. The bloodlust he felt might just transfer to them if he stayed only a second more with them after all, they were both suggesting he retreat in obedience.
The man upstairs was someone he wanted to keep even after getting married. A man whose company he had come to love, like none in his life.
Hiroshi was sitting on a sofa in the living space. He rose up as soon as he saw Haruki walk in.
"Welcome back," Hiroshi said although Haruki hadn’t announced his arrival.
Hiroshi helped Haruki unbutton his suit jacket and took it off Haruki’s body. To think he was ordered to get rid of such an attentive man, he felt even more hesitant.
"I will get you something else to wear or do you want to shower first?"
Haruki looked into those warm brown eyes and he could not hold back. He held the doctor’s head and pulled him closer to seal his lips with his.
It was hard and got intense as Hiroshi parted his lips letting Haruki’s tongue into his mouth. Wet tongues sliding against each other in the warmth of their mouth.
