(BL) Mafia Love; He who falls the hardest loses-Chapter 153: A powerful enemy
Hiroshi had returned to his usual work schedule. Haruki hadn’t come over during the week and he didn’t go over knowing Haruki was very busy.
He found out Haruki was investigating someone and from the information he got from his lawyer, it had been very tense in the main house.
Knowing Haruki was busy and that he had also become very busy at work, working overtime and taking on other shifts that he wouldn’t have taken if Haruki were coming over as usual.
The week went by very quickly, and he missed the man so much that it felt as though the week had lasted longer than it actually did. During the weekend, he decided to keep his schedule open even though he still thought it was a good idea to distract himself with work while giving Haruki space to work.
It was very difficult for him not to think Haruki was simply avoiding him. He had witnessed the way Haruki stared at him and having such thoughts felt hurtful.
He went back home to clean up before driving to Haruki’s house. Even after arriving in the main house, he was told that Haruki was busy in the study with some of his subordinates.
His movements in the house were not restrained but he could not bring himself to disturb Haruki so he went upstairs to the bedroom.
He changed into comfortable clothes and sat in the living area. He was told dinner was ready by a staff member. He went downstairs glad that he would finally meet Haruki.
The table was set for one and Haruki was not there. He sat down without asking feeling famished. Even after eating Haruki had not arrived.
Neither Kiyoshi nor Ren were around and although he was familiar with some of the staff and Haruki’s subordinate and he knew what they thought about him and never truly got close to them compared to how he was with Kiyoshi.
When he got tired of waiting around, he went to the study himself thinking Haruki was there but the place was empty forcing him to ask.
The subordinate he stopped bowed slightly.
"Where is the boss?" he asked. All these caused a sour feeling in his heart. He was with the man for more than a couple of weeks and there had been no cause for Haruki to ignore him.
He had become very confident during those days, he was almost certain that the man loved him and even if he didn’t, he was so close to loving him. These actions afterwards made him tense.
He remained calm as he met the man’s gaze awaiting his response.
"I don’t know but I think the boss left some minutes ago."
Hiroshi narrowed his eyes in confusion. He was in the house but Haruki left home without telling him or at least sending someone to inform him. He began wondering if Haruki actually knew he was in the house at all.
With his lips pressed tightly, he nodded at the young subordinate’s response before going back to the room. He waited for Haruki to arrive.

When he did not know his enemy, the major task was finding out who the enemy was. The tasks had seemed very difficult. He knew who was behind it all.
He sent Ren out of the country to investigate the prime minister. So many things that had happened to him became very suspicious. It was as though the more he found out about Aiichiro, the deeper it got.
And the deeper it got, the more he questioned every recent event. When he had paused to massage his brow was the thought of Hiroshi being involved flashing his mind.
Aiichiro had given the prime minister the support he needed to breach his security. The prime minister’s son who should never have died in the accident based on the plan Souta made was killed by Aiichiro.
Aiichiro also made the order for the organs forcing his grand uncle to make a foolish mistake considering the money requested. Too many things had happened in the past year and the reason he never found the reason was that he didn’t know the person behind it.
As soon as he found out it was Aiichiro, it was as though everything began falling in place. Ren had to travel, he had use resources in other territories risking his life but when he got the information Ren sent, he had rested his elbows on the table and rubbed his face.
So much was done to either destroy his relationship with his family, his reputation or his mental health and all of them were orchestrated by Aiichiro a man he once thought of as one of his many friends.
He had to eat lunch with the same man the next day and he was not sure he would be able to hold back from kidnapping him for interrogation.
That would be both very risky and almost impossible. Aiichiro was different from him in quite a few ways. They hung around then because they were both third-generation rich men but Aiichiro had lived all his life in his wealth.
He was used to getting what he wanted regardless of how it would be done. He was also very deeply and directly involved with the underworld with the right amount of connections in the political world. He was a distant relation of the present prime minister.
He had supported the man’s journey to becoming prime minister but he had never tried to form any significant bond with the man.
"Are you okay?" Ren rose and asked.
Haruki met the man’s gaze and nodded. Ren looked travel-worn but he was better than Haruki whose eyes had dark circles.
"You should get some rest," Haruki said seriously looking at Ren who looked tired as though he travelled on foot rather than his private jet.
"I will but I don’t think you should eat lunch with him," Ren replied.
Haruki nodded but he didn’t agree with his mentor. Why would he avoid the man who seemed to have been in control of almost everything that had happened to him?
There was no need to hide. He sent Ren to investigate and it was almost impossible for the man not to know that he was investigating him, which was how deeply the man had infiltrated his organisation.
"I will meet with him, I have no reason to run," Haruki replied reaching for a box of cigars from the drawer of his desk.
"That is dangerous."
Haruki nodded. "I think if he wanted me dead, he would have done it easily but he didn’t that means he’s uninterested in my death."
Ren swallowed. Considering the things the man had done, he knew if he wanted him dead, it would have been a piece of cake but he was still alive which meant the man was after something else not his life.
"I just hope you are right," Ren sighed.
"Yes, I hope so too just put everything in order. A good plan to counter any attack won’t be a bad idea after all."
They had plans to put in place with Kiyoshi and some of his other subordinates. He didn’t realise he hadn’t eaten yet until he returned to the main house. The chef immediately served a warm meal on the large dining table.
This was the first time he got to sit down to relax after the hectic day of worry and planning. Looking ahead at the empty chairs, he felt a weight in his chest. He pulled out his phone and called the doctor.
The thought that he might walk into a trap tomorrow had him craving to hear that man’s voice after being too busy to think about anything other than the enemy he was dealing with.
"Hello," he said as soon as the call got picked up. "You didn’t get the weekend off?" he asked not giving the doctor the chance to respond to him.
"I am coming," Hiroshi replied before hanging up.
Haruki furrowed his brow slightly at the man’s words. He tried to call the man again but his call was left unanswered.
He glanced down at his wrist watch, it was almost midnight. He wondered what the man was doing coming over so late. He wanted to tell him to come tomorrow morning for breakfast.
He raised his head when the doorknob turned. The door was pushed open and Hiroshi walked in hurriedly. Seeing Haruki sitting with a pair of chopsticks, he paused.
Haruki’s eyes widened. He had not known that the man was in his house. He realised he had been too busy to notice it and that he might have to talk to his subordinates about not informing him or perhaps he was too busy to remember.
"I missed you so much," Hiroshi said before taking quick hurried steps towards Haruki. He paused beside Haruki’s seat and looked down at him patiently.
It was as though he was awaiting permission to act while pleading. Such a handsome face gives him a gentle look. Haruki placed his chopsticks down and rose pushing the chair back.
He smiled and lifted his hands slightly.
