(BL) Mafia Love; He who falls the hardest loses-Chapter 109: Happy Reunion?
Haruki could finally see why she was so fearless when facing him. Seeing the small boy who always got bullied look at you with such coldness in their gaze must be quite amusing to her.
She must be wondering what gave that weakling the guts to look at her in such a manner as though they were never bullied and ostracised right before her eyes.
Haruki swallowed, he had an even stronger urge to kill her. For the first time in his life, he felt like ending a woman’s life so badly, he knew he had to get away from her but she stood on his path with that foolish courageous smile.
"We were not particularly close back in school That was why I could not believe you were on the one I saw on TV. Then, I swore that you were not the one but meeting you, I am sure you’re the one . . . I am very certain that I am not wrong."
"Get out of my way," Haruki looked down at her as he thought about how much strength he would need to put into a punch to knock her out completely to her grave.
"Why? Is there something wrong with meeting with your high school classmate? This should be a happy reunion don’t you think? You’ve become all-powerful that even the government fears you. I am sure no one would believe it is really you when I tell them."
The more she spoke, the more Haruki was certain she was sent by someone to either taunt or force him to commit a crime he won’t be able to cover up properly.
There was no definite trace of mockery in her words and expression but her fearlessness was so much that it completely masked any thought she might have. She didn’t sound like she was happy to see him either. Everything about the moment felt just too weird to Haruki.
This was the first time he was approached by anyone from high school since he took over his grandfather’s position. A few might have met Haruki but Haruki had not kept much memory about high school considering the kind of life he lived then that he could remember them after all these years.
Most of them would deny it completely when they see him on TV just like she said considering they would rather not believe that the small bullied boy they all looked down on had become someone so powerful even the government was a bit cautious with him.
Haruki sighed and sat down when he noticed the lady was unwilling to let him leave and he was certain that he would hurt her badly if he decided to shove her out of his way. He signalled to the bartender to get him another glass of cocktail.
He leaned backwards showing so much relaxation. He reined in his emotions as he met her gaze void of any emotion. Just as she wasn’t showing much, he didn’t show anything as he reached for his glass and took a sip first before nodding in appreciation.
"Give me what you gave him," she told the bartender gesturing to the drink Haruki got.
"That drink’s priceless. I can’t," the bartender responded to her before turning away to do other things.
The words the bartender spoke caused Haruki to raise his head finally taking note of the bartender not the drink he was served. The man was handsome with a gentle appearance that gave him the feeling of being a smart kind college student.
"Fine a glass of beer would do," she spoke pressing her lips tightly together afterwards. This was the first true emotions she showed Haruki since she came and he had the bartender to thank for that.
He served her glass of beer and she raised her glass towards Haruki which he ignored before she drank from it. Haruki studied her peripherally as he continued to enjoy his drink.
She looked well dressed in branded clothes that were styled properly to fit her appearance and slender body. She looked like she was a decent second-generation rich kid but not too wealthy though or perhaps she had gotten married to an entrepreneur and had good fashion sense or she was the entrepreneur.
"Who put you up to this?" Haruki had to ask, this time out of curiosity with the original guard he had up against her diminishing a bit.
He could not remember her face from high school but if she was the class monitor then she had to be very intelligent and he did not expect a smart student to do something as foolish as what she was doing without a cause.
"No one. I recognised you from across the room and I decided to greet an old classmate. What is so surprising or suspicious about this?"
Haruki decided to ignore her completely. She didn’t want him to leave and he didn’t want to hurt her with the strength he would put into her getting her out of his way so he stayed and blocked out her presence from his mind.
She was just an old classmate What was so bad about meeting her? A reminder of his horrible past? One he had no intention of visiting? Then he should forget she existed and move on with life. He made mental notes to handle his guards about this issue though.
"We have held a couple of reunions in the past but neither you nor Aki came to either of them. Do you want to attend the next one?" Finally, something she said got to him.
Does he? Haruki held back the urge to sigh. What was the use of meeting with a bunch of people who had watched on the sidelines while he got bullied? This was something that never crossed his mind. After all, he had not graduated from that school so he had no connection to them anymore.
There was a reason he never visited his aunt although it was left to Aki and the bank to ensure she got paid a sum of money every month since he became chairman. The past was something he chose to leave behind and he had no intention of purposely poking with a hornet nest.
"Let’s exchange contacts, I will send you details of our meeting spot when we decide on it. I heard you own a lot of restaurants, Will you give us a discount if we decide to dine at one of yours?" 𝙛𝒓𝒆𝙚𝒘𝒆𝓫𝙣𝓸𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝒄𝒐𝓶
Haruki finally rose up and she mirrored his action blocking his path when he turned to leave. He turned to the bartender and pulled out his wallet. He pulled out a some cash from it and placed them on the counter.
The bartender shook his head and bowed as he pushed the money back towards Haruki. Haruki smiled liking the young man’s service even more. He pulled out some more money from his wallet and added it to the money instead of taking the money back.
"Consider it a bonus from your boss," he told the young man who could not reject the money anymore with those words.
He turned to the lady standing on his path to leave as she stretched her business card towards him. "If you seek to work in one of my hostess bars, I would not mind but you would have to go through someone else, not me. I can put in a few words for you though."
Her eyes widened at his words and he noticed she was getting angry but without a bother about that, he walked past her while she stood still nursing her wounded ego.
He glanced back to see a guard blocking her path as it seemed that she had tried to go after him. He wondered why they had not done that earlier.
As he walked to his car , he noticed a scuffle between two men. He would have turned and walked to his car as usual or had his guards handle the issue but he took a step after another towards them ignoring his car key that was stretched towards him.
A small smile lifted the corner of his lips as he noticed one of the men pull out a knife. With every step he took, his mind was void of any thought almost too blank as his body acted on its own.
