Chapter 440: Chapter 50: The Builders of Candlefort

Spirit Realm, Candlefort.

With the opening of a teleportation gate, Shawn and his team’s figures appeared outside Candlefort.

In the Spirit Realm, Candlefort is a very prominent landmark because it is situated at the peak of the towering Dark Mountains. From a distance, one can see the spires and fortress of Candlefort. The gray sky is shrouded in mist, and visibility in the Candlefort area often doesn’t exceed fifty meters. Even with a spell cast, it’s of no use; only when the dim sun rises does the mist slowly dissipate.

"I’ve been to Candlefort once but it was different from here."

A slender figure frowned as he gazed at the fortress afar, with two heavy curved sabers strapped to his back. Frost formed on the scabbard in the mist, chilling all around, and Shawn always suspected the weapons are the legendary ’Ice Death.’

Ugly Monkey was also a member of this team, his advancement was very rapid, having already touched the threshold of legendary.

The most striking member of the team was the Burly Butcher, resembling a small giant. Shawn hadn’t seen him for a long time. However, upon meeting, old friends needed few words, just a single glance to understand each other.

The Butcher recently ventured into the Inner Earth World to hunt with Benjamin, and upon receiving news of Benjamin Tilian, Shawn couldn’t help but feel pleased.

"Lord Shawn."

"This place is extremely dangerous!" The Insectoid Empress was slightly uneasy, the antennae on her forehead gently trembling.

Shawn used mind communication to soothe her emotions and quietly said, "Don’t worry, we won’t go too deep."

At the back of the team was Quinn-Toh; as a Transcendent on the Barbarian Path, he was naturally illiterate, thus wasn’t very interested in anything about Candlefort. Barbarians need to pay double the price to learn mystical knowledge, and he joined this mission more due to the summons from Divine Terra.

If not for the Butcher, Quinn-Toh would be the main tank in the team. Barbarians, with their tough skin and strong life force, rival even the life points of Giant Dragons. However, with Butcher joining, Quinn-Toh became the team’s damage dealer—barbarian path is quite effective at cutting foes indeed, after all, brute strength often works miracles.

Once Great Frenzy begins, no one likes being around.

This time, with Butcher’s addition, Shawn didn’t mobilize the Celestial Calamity Messenger Team members; they had other tasks.

—Shawn (Spell), Butcher (Warrior), Ugly Monkey (Rogue), Insectoid Empress (Healer), Quinn-Toh (Barbarian).

A standard five-person legendary level team.

Theoretically speaking, replacing the Insectoid Empress with a Druid would be much better, a Priest would be even better, but Shawn wasn’t very familiar with the Natural Circle and had no suitable candidate for now. Thankfully, he had a contract with the three Lake Fairy sisters, and when necessary, he could summon them for healing.

Butcher asked solemnly, "Is the entrance ticket ready?"

Shawn nodded slightly and said, "It’s ready. Took me some effort."

Butcher nodded and said no more. 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝐰𝚎𝕓𝐧𝚘𝘃𝗲𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝕞

If Shawn didn’t have the entrance ticket, they wouldn’t be able to enter Candlefort, as they couldn’t handle the guards outside.

It was very quiet around Candlefort.

Creatures from the Spirit Realm wouldn’t easily approach here; only the occasional activation spell running out needs caution. Candlefort has three entrances, and Shawn chose the outermost north gate, which leads to Candlefort’s storage room, reading room, and library buildings.

Nearly a thousand years have passed, and entering Candlefort has become increasingly difficult. Even Lady Hecate would need to exert some effort.

Very soon.

In front of them appeared two magnificent statues, standing at around 120 meters high, holding massive giant swords and war axes, one in the form of a human warrior and the other a dwarf defender. Their large eyes gazed at the distant mountains.

—Stone Giant Puppet [Super Giant Construct] [Legendary Golem] [Magic Immunity] (Challenge Level 25)?!

—Iron Giant Puppet [Super Giant Construct] [Legendary Golem] [Magic Immunity] (Challenge Level 33)?!

Just reached the gate.

Shawn immediately felt the presence of the ’Anti-Magic Field.’ These were giant constructs from the Dark Era created by the Alchemy Path. Dozens of Destiny Legendary teamed up with the Alchemy Path’s demigods to create a golem army to guard Candlefort, where the weakest challenge level was also 25. Directly assaulting Candlefort was very difficult because they could activate an anti-magic field and were immune to magic. To dismantle them, one must rely on brute force output.

"If we could transport them out, we could smash those evil objects directly!" Quinn-Toh exclaimed.

Shawn calmly said, "That day will come, as long as we can reclaim Candlefort."

Three entrances feature six legendary level giants, and inside Candlefort, there are Diamond Golems, Supreme Golems, Dragon Golems, etc., with the Candlefort golem army almost concentrating the power of an era.

If Shawn brought a Steel Golem here, it would look insignificant in front of them, barely able to withstand a few rounds.

Ugly Monkey whispered, "To take them head-on, probably we’d need a Magic Energy Crystal Pulse Cannon."

"And preferably a Focusing Ring to draw power from the sun."

Unless the Silencer is brought over, ordinary interstellar battleships really can’t do much. It’s hard to break through the defense.

A heavy gate gently trembled.

As they approached the entrance to Candlefort, an elderly human face appeared on the solid marble wall; it was the Activation Sculpture (Challenge Level 15), watching Shawn with an emotionless face: "What is the first principle of the Alchemy Path?"
