Bizarre Realm-Chapter 418 - 42: A Mortal’s Day (Part 2)
The Authority of Law of the Lord of the Underworld allowed him to single-handedly construct the outline of a city within the Half-Plane.
Clang.
Leticia drew the short blade from her waist. She was not a combat personnel and could only use simple weapons. Most of her batch of newly promoted Transcendents were logistics staff who had not undergone rigorous military training or combat skills, primarily relying on their strong Constitution as Transcendents to perform logistics work.
Whenever she reminisced about everything in the slums at that time, Leticia felt a surreal sense of distance.
That day, she lost her husband and almost lost the courage to live, but for her child, she persisted. Yet, fate did not spare her, as Death and plague soon broke out in the Ring City, suddenly spawning hordes of zombies. She thought she and her child were doomed, but unexpectedly, a ferocious Ghoul appeared and killed the zombies nearby, until they met the rescue troops led by Terra’s Priests.
Leticia always had a guess that the Ghoul might be her husband.
She was part of the third batch of Transcendents promoted, following the Warrior Path, and was the earliest female Transcendent to ascend. The first two batches consisted entirely of males, mostly combat personnel who had received combat training or had exceptional talent.
The promotion assessment for the Warrior Path only evaluated willpower, because upon successful fusion with the Extraordinary Relics, even someone like Leticia could easily lift a few hundred pounds.
Leticia was illiterate, and though she squeezed out time to learn some General Knowledge, writing an application report was beyond her.
She knocked on the door next to hers, and soon a drunken, bearded dwarf opened it, saying, "Ah, it’s you? What’s up?"
Leticia bowed her head respectfully and said, "Captain. I want to apply for combat training."
The number of Transcendents inside the Half-Plane was increasing, yet they were still ordinary people—just stronger and healthier. They were no different from before, except their work environment was more dangerous, they earned more, and they needed to grasp some basic self-defense combat skills (simple weapons, military weapons specialization). Those who had not ascended as Transcendents were assigned to various trades, with the most being farmers in the planting area, as many crops were grown in the Half-Plane.
The grey dwarf took a swig from his bottle, looked at the woman, and shook his head, saying, "No. You can’t handle the hardship."
"Furthermore, you have a child. Combat work is extremely dangerous."
"You wouldn’t want your child to lose their mother early, would you?"
Bam.
The drunken grey dwarf directly shut Leticia out, but as the woman disappointedly turned to leave, he opened the door again, pondered for a moment, and said, "If you advance to Tier Two in the future, I’ll consider writing a recommendation letter for you."
"But for now, just keep working at the logistics department in the mining area."
Tier Two Warrior.
The Extraordinary Level 5 and above, considered the minimum threshold for combat personnel.
Hope sparked in Leticia’s eyes, but before she could speak, bam, the grey dwarf closed the door again.
There had been no alcohol supply in the Half-Plane for a long time, until half a month ago when stores started featuring alcoholic products, much to the joy of the grey dwarves who were basically drunk on their days off. Around the corner lay the shops on Clock Avenue, one having an odd name, ’Supermarket’, with a dazzling array of goods. However, more than a month ago, it only stocked simple food and daily necessities.
Leticia saw two figures approaching, one an elderly scholar with monocle clad in scholarly aura, the other a burly bearded man who looked like a formidable warrior—but was actually a Druid.
She quickly bowed slightly, but the two formidable Transcendents merely glanced at her before disappearing to the other side of the road.
Tree Shepherds from the Del Region, and Sages from the Tower of Knowledge.
Druids from the Del Region were the first to arrive here, helping to open up planting zones while teaching farmers agricultural techniques. Druids also belonged to the Knowledge Domain of Transcendents but focused more on farming knowledge.
It’s hard to see Druids usually, but at Jade Lake, you can encounter Druids actively visiting the three secluded Lake Fairy sisters.
The depths of that lake were already off-limits to ordinary people.
It was said that Great Druids were setting up Sacred Ceremonies, intending to breed more Fairy Species using the bloodline of the Lake Fairies, though Leticia was unsure about the truth of this, as she only knew one Druid—from a trip escorting him to the Underworld to gather mushrooms.
Non-combat personnel knew very little. Leticia had a weekly rest day, with two days off allowing her to return to the Half-Plane.
She walked out of Clock Avenue, soon nearing the Park District, which was under construction, witnessing a large plaza and fountains and occasionally encountering non-human Purgatory creatures, though they seldom stayed in the Half-Plane.
There were three Teleportation Arrays to leave the Half-Plane, one atop the spire behind the Park District.
