Chapter 394: Chapter 34: Nether River Ferryman! Awakened—Void

How many souls are there in the realm of the Divine Spirits? 𝑓𝑟ℯ𝘦𝓌𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝑐ℴ𝓂

Shawn does not know.

If not for the limitations imposed by the Twisted Laws of the Bizarre Realm, which prevent the seizing of the Extraordinary Essence of the past, making it impossible to advance further, he might have already surged directly to the strength of a High Tier Legendary. No wonder Aemon always said that in the battlegrounds of the Abyssal Blood War, a common soul, if it survives, might reach the rank of a High Tier Demon after a single blood war. Shawn also doesn’t know how much Power of Soul he has consumed; those Low Tier undead creatures might only possess one or two points of soul energy, but their sheer numbers are overwhelming.

Shawn doesn’t know how many he has killed, tens of thousands, hundreds of thousands, a vast number of bone skeletons surged from the tomb below, and he swung the Flaming Giant Sword to slice down dozens of undead in one strike. Most of these undead souls dissipated into the evolving Netherworld, but some were plundered by the innate powers of the Child of Slaughter, transforming into soul energy that Shawn himself possessed.

The battle continued for most of the night.

Shawn is certain he is definitely at max level: Level 5 Arcanist / Level 5 Mind Scholar / Level 10 Arcane Spirit Master, and even the soul energy he has absorbed has exceeded the limit, being stored in an unusual manner. At least ten million souls vanished in this battle, and wherever his gaze falls is the scarred earth, countless bones scattered in the soil, until the energy of the Burial Ground is exhausted, and no undead would rise again.

Shawn, transformed into the Balrog Flame Demon Lord, wiped the blood from his face, blood that was his own, the demon’s blood, searing hot; beneath him lay the remains of a Bone Dragon, its ferocious dragon head used as his seat, next to a crumbled Soul Summoning Tower, its obsidian-like columns tilted, he leaned against this tower, slightly panting.

——Shawn [Balrog Flame Demon Lord Form] (Severely Injured - Near Death).

This time, he truly understands what ’ants bite an elephant to death’ means; even with the strong protective abilities of a Demon Lord, he was struck into a state of severe injury, near death. Any other Legendary Transcendent would probably be completely exhausted here.

Hiss!

Shawn extended his arm and pulled out the bone crossbow arrows embedded in the Demon’s Wings, which were fired from the Skeleton Crossbow Cannon controlled by Corpse Witches. He was hit by over ten arrows; if not for the Demon Lord’s innate regeneration ability, he might not have been able to continue flying. On his tough skin sprawled numerous wounds, some inflicted by Skeleton Guards, some due to the corrosive damage of necromancy spells, and others were the result of negative energy absorption, leaving dry, dead skin. The wounds numbered in the thousands, some merely a scratch on the skin, while others could penetrate the demon skin directly, leaving corrosive scars on his body.

"No one can match the undead in sheer numbers strategy, not even demons."

Shawn conservatively estimates he cleaved down at least three hundred thousand undead creatures. This exceedingly fierce slaughter dragged on until the last, his Primitive Magic Power nearly exhausted, and ultimately he had to transform into a Berserker, engaging in close combat to dismantle these bone structures.

The injuries accumulated bit by bit; Shawn lacked sufficient means to restore life, gradually being worn into the state of severe injury, near death by these undead.

"Fortunately, the teacher unleashed a special move and took away the Ancient Tomb King."

Had the Ancient Tomb King persisted, this war would be even more challenging, with no decisive victory within a day, some Divine Kingdom battles could last for decades, until the adversary’s foundation was fully exhausted.

The Divine Spirits are simply too powerful.

Attacking the divine kingdom of a Death Demigod proves extraordinarily difficult, even with Lady Hecate decapitating the Ancient Tomb King beforehand, Shawn finds it hard to imagine the intensity of the battles between orthodox Divine Spirits, likely reaching a point where no party yields to another.

Indeed, mighty Divine Spirits do not easily attack the divine kingdom of weaker Divine Spirits.

"The Ancient Tomb King’s divine kingdom hosts at least ten million troops."

Shawn only manages the southern line of the divine kingdom battlefield, advancing triumphantly, leveling the Soul Summoning Towers along the way, and finally capturing a Burial Ground. After killing over a dozen Bone Dragons, many dragon remains were discovered in the Witch Demon’s lair, presumably excavated from the Dragon’s Tomb, some nearly fossilized. The Soul Summoning Towers are essentially low-tier versions of Wizard Towers, capturing them is not easy, and Shawn was significantly injured. As for the spoils, they are primarily necromancy series spell materials, along with many soul crystals piled together.

The Ancient Tomb King managed his divine kingdom for hundreds of years; with so many Soul Summoning Towers, even gathering a hundred souls a day would reach over thirty-six thousand a year, amounting to millions over the centuries.

It might be even more, as souls typically dissipate into the Divine Kingdom Plane, and this old creature probably absorbed hundreds of thousands of souls annually.

The main combat power in this battle is still Lady Hecate’s divine kingdom army, who seem to possess a bit of the power of the Death Law, as Shawn observed some Prayerers directly transforming during the slaughter, countless gray soul energies converged, forming the wings of a Death Angel behind them. After this war, Lady Hecate is considerably weakened, her centuries-old foundation depleted entirely, with most of the Prayerers converting to Prayerers of the Netherworld.
