Chapter 126: Chapter 1: The Demon’s Way of Survival

"Isn’t this forcing me into a wilderness survival?"

Shawn perked up his ears and listened to the surroundings. He heard a faint rustling sound; it must be monsters nearby. His landing probably caught the attention of some enemies.

In the distance, the swamp rippled with water waves, as if some creatures were moving in the swamp, and the direction of the ripples was toward him.

This land is enveloped in a rotten stench, and the water surface spreads with a tar-like shade. When the waters ripple, oily stains can be seen. The pollution here is already severe, seeming like modern industrial factories have dumped countless industrial waste here to ferment, and the toxic gas from fermentation has spread across the entire swamp. Ultimately, the depths of the swamp are a pitch black, like a leaking oil field.

This place is the land twisted by the swamp’s ruler, Mendor. The entire region is corrupted and polluted, with tar-like stains spreading across half the continent, part on land, and part spreading into the ocean. A large amount of mutant algae spreads into the depths of the sea, these toxic algae plants slowly altering the entire planet’s atmospheric environment.

The position Shawn is at now is relatively better. If he were deep in the swamp, there would be elemental mutants gathered by polluted energy, extremely large in size, with the smallest at over ten meters tall.

"Find a safe place first!"

As a Wizard, Shawn’s Magic Power is limited. Being directly thrown into such a place is literally akin to a Hellish beginning.

He took out a weapon from the Witch King’s Ring. Firearms are not that effective in this environment because shooting might attract an unknown number of nearby monsters.

Fortunately, this is the edge of the swamp. Shawn dared not approach the twisted jungle and could only move towards the open plains. The rustling behind him grew clearer, yet when he turned around, he saw nothing.

"The terrain ahead is leaving the mudflats." Walking here was challenging for Shawn; each step sank into nearly ten centimeters of sludge.

Whiz!

Just before Shawn was about to get out of the mudflats, suddenly a whistling sound came rushing towards him. A deadly poison arrow pierced straight through his chest. A hunched, humanoid-lizard-like monster emerged from the swamp, its sallow eyes filled with madness and bloodthirst. First, an arrow pierced Shawn’s chest, then another arrow pointed at his head.

Thud.

As Shawn barely stepped out of the mudflats, he felt a sharp pain in his chest as an arrow shot through him, and the next second, his brain trembled, consciousness began to blur as a deadly arrow pierced through his skull.

The scene of death began to rewind!

Just escaping from the agony of death, Shawn barely had time to think and directly executed a Dimensional Jump, flickering onto the plain.

——Invisibility!

Shawn’s figure vanished in place; strange noises echoed from the distant swamp. A monstrous, Komodo dragon-like humanoid head emerged, its skin wrinkled like a toad, turbid dark-yellow eyes staring ahead, crawling out of the swamp bit by bit.

This monster had a crocodile-like tail, toxic boils covering its body, humanoid features with limbs, but a twisted, mutant body resembling a combination of multiple amphibians.

It extended a crimson tongue, seemingly capturing scents, approaching forward bit by bit.

The prey was still nearby; it wouldn’t give up easily.

Bang!

Rat-tat-tat!

A series of dull gunshots rang out as Shawn’s figure suddenly appeared at the edge of the grass near the mudflats. He looked at the monster in front of him and, without hesitation, emptied the magazine, directly blasting its grotesque head into a puddle of flesh.

Just landing triggered the Death Retrospect, causing Shawn’s mood to become very heavy, as he felt how close death truly was for the first time.

"What is the cooldown time for Death Retrospect?"

Shawn couldn’t believe Aemon went to such lengths to capture him only to send him to this damned place to die. He kept mentioning Shawn’s potential, so aside from strong intuition, his potential must include the ability of Death Retrospect.

If his untapped potential was indeed Death Retrospect, then the cooldown of such an ability must be very short.

Because in the real world, Shawn doesn’t have many opportunities to trigger Death Retrospect. It is only in such a danger-filled hellish place that he constantly teeters on the edge of life and death.

If his unactivated potential isn’t Death Retrospect, he couldn’t possibly survive here.

Shawn’s figure dashed forward.

He quickly took the short bow and poison arrows from the corpse of the Lizardman monster, then scanned the enemy’s body and took several peculiar spoils of war, before finally shifting from confusion. Upon seeing the flowing Extraordinary Essence, he directly gouged out the enemy’s murky eyeballs.

This is an Extraordinary Relic of the Ranger Path!

——"Knowledge discovered the ’Super Vision’ spell essence."

The knowledge within Shawn’s mind was exceptionally excited and active. Without having to use the Identification Skill, it directly unlocked information about dropped Extraordinary Relics based on recognition ability.

A Second Ring spell, allowing Shawn to possess a Ranger’s visual abilities and gain Dark Vision.

This place’s danger is indeed real, but the drop rate is incredibly real.

Just now, Shawn somewhat understood why Aemon threw him here. Damn! This place is full of monsters waiting to be harvested.

Of course, the premise is he must survive.

Aemon is forcing Shawn to dance on the edge of death, and if he can endure this, his strength will rapidly transform.

Demons care only about Power.

Power is everything!
