The series of notifications stunned Lucas. However, his attention was on the last few. Lucas had realized that he had inadvertently levelled up by completing a hidden mission of the system. The details of the mission weren't straightforward, but it seemed like his act of designing stellar processors and selling them still counted as completing the mission.
'Incredible.'
Lucas didn't dwell much on this, but focused his attention on what mattered most —the rewards.
For the hidden mission, Lucas gained the rewards of a Special Ability Card and a Bronze Grade Card, increasing his pack of each by one. The Special Ability Card could randomly give Lucas a superpower for a random duration of between 6-24 hours. On the other hand, the Bronze Grade Card would grant Lucas a stellar refinement level equivalent to the card's level for up to two hours. The Bronze Grade Card was a sixth level one, just like the other one before it, and its value was even better than the Special Ability Card.
Although the sixth level didn't seem like much, considering the various personalities Lucas had met so far, it was still impressive. Also, with the Stellar Circuit Battle-Armour (SCB) —which was a Grade 4 vestige— Lucas would be able to take on up to seventh or even ninth level stellar practitioners, as long as they didn't possess superpowers or a hint of them. This was because Grade 4 vestiges corresponded to the third sub-stage in the Apertures Opening stage, which was the seventh to ninth level.
With a sixth level Apertures Opening stage strength, Lucas would be able to properly wield the SCB. He was confident of being able to hold his own against a ninth level stellar practitioner. Even if the latter had superpowers or was even a tenth level stellar practitioner, Lucas believed that he could escape with his life while using one of the Bronze Grade Cards and the SCB.
'I wouldn't need to be afraid of anyone within Baylands city-state, and I can preserve my life in Belfargos territory.' Lucas thought.
He could finally be relaxed and explore other places more.
"Lucas."
While Lucas was thinking this, Vienna called out to him as she noticed that he had remained quiet ever since. She had a slight frown on her face as she stared at him.
"Oh. You ladies have fun. I need to use the toilet." Lucas hurriedly excused himself before walking away.
Both Vienna and Giselle were stunned silly. They were both fighting to keep him to themselves for the remainder of the event. But right after interrupting their argument and when it looked like he had made a decision, Lucas simply walked away. How could they not be speechless?
"Tch." Vienna's lips twitched following which she walked off with Melissa in tow.
"Have I really lost my charm so much?" Giselle touched her face as she thought out loud.
Meanwhile, Lucas didn't head off to the washroom as he had said. Instead, he looked for a quieter location to analyze his gains.
For levelling up the system, Lucas was rewarded with ten system coins and the final ingredient to create the miracle medicine that would rebuild his physique entirely.
As a true and pure-blooded human, Lucas was just like the last generation humans right before the hyumans were created. It was innately impossible for him to use stellar energy despite it being a sort of mystical energy like mana, blood energy and the rest. Despite trying various attempts and carrying out experiments in the store, Lucas was unable to find out why this was so.
Luckily, he was presented with two options, otherwise Lucas would have to live a life worse than modern day humans [1]. The first was to level the system up to level five and use the unique ingredients granted after each level up to create a miracle medicine. The second was to accrue five hundred system coins and buy the Red Dragon Heaven Pill.
According to the system, if Lucas wanted to forget a perfect physique that would be heaven-defying, the Red Dragon Heaven Pill was the best choice to go with. The physique birthed from consuming the pill would allow one to master all sorts of mystical energy and be able to progress more than ten times faster than even the most talented genius. Even if all one did was eat, poop and sleep every day, they would be able to reach the peak with time.
However, if what Lucas yearned for was various abilities, the miracle medicine made from the five unique ingredients was the way to go. And although the perfect physique formed by the miracle medicine could not even compare to half of the Red Dragon Heaven Pill's, the effects that came alongside consuming the miracle medicine were more than just a change in one's physique.
Regardless, Lucas didn't really have much of a choice as reaching level five and gathering the ingredients was considerably easier than saving up for the Red Dragon Heaven Pill.
"Icarus' Tears, a leaf from the Tree of Gehenna, one drop of impure sap from the Tree of Life mixed with void dust, one drop of Jörmungandr's blood. Four items."
After level 1, Lucas received a unique item each time he levelled up the system, adding up to a total of four items. Each one had a unique effect and could grant a rare ability when consumed on its own. As such, one could only wonder what would happen when all four were mixed to form a potion. Lucas couldn't wait to find out and was already planning on leaving the event early.
The last notification was one about completing the 'tutorial phase' which surprised Lucas. Apart from the twenty system coins reward, the other three were unheard of: a Silver Grade card, Svarog's Forge, and a Lucky Box.
'A lucky box sounds obvious. It's probably something that would spawn a random item depending on my luck. Svarog's Forge sounds like an equipment. As for this Silver Grade Card, don't tell me...'
Lucas froze in shock as he found his suspicion to be insane. But even then, it sounded likely to be true.
Clicking on the Silver Grade Card in his inventory, Lucas stared at the introduction that was beside it.
"It fucking is." Lucas' eyes were wide open.
There wasn't much information on the description panel of the Silver Grade Card. However, the little information it held was still astonishing nonetheless.
Similar to the Bronze Grade Card, it would temporarily raise Lucas' stellar refinement strength to match that of the card. However, while the Bronze Grade Card covered the Apertures Opening stage, the Silver Grade Card covered the next stage —the Guardian stage or Origin Stage.
Unlike the Apertures Opening stage, the Guardian stage had only three levels, but each one was massively different and much more powerful than the last. It was similar to the gap between the four sub-stages of the Apertures Opening stage.
The Guardian stage also had three sublevels that repeated in each level; preliminary, mid and peak. The Silver Grade Card he got could grant Lucas strength on par with a preliminary one Origin Source Guardian.
This was the weakest rank in the Guardian stage, but when compared to a peak twelfth level Apertures Opening stage stellar practitioner —the peak of the Apertures Opening stage— a preliminary one Origin Source Guardian could smash them with ease; even 5 twelfth level Apertures Opening stage stellar practitioner cannot win against one. 𝒻𝘳ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝒷𝘯ℴ𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝑐ℴ𝑚
Someone at the Guardian stage was already at the peak of a planet's capability. Smashing a city was possible, and those with three Origin Sources could even influence a continent.
"I've lucked out crazy." Lucas couldn't hold back from smiling.
If the two sixth level Bronze Grade Cards could give him the confidence to not be afraid of anyone, the Silver Grade Card made Lucas feel like a boss. Of course, Lucas wouldn't start behaving like those web novel young masters and act like a prick, neither would he challenge the Oklo Dynasty just because of it.
After looking through the notifications, Lucas properly analysed his gains once more.
Prior to all of this, Lucas had only forty five system coins and three special ability cards. There was also a sixth level Bronze Grade Card in his stash that Lucas had avoided using for a while now. However, he now had more than before, whether in terms of quality or quantity.
Ten system coins for leveling up, twenty system coins for completing the tutorial mode; there was no doubt that the system was being quite generous with the rewards this time around. However, compared to the five hundred system coins price for the Red Dragon Heaven Pill, Lucas' stash of seventy five system coins was only worth 15%. But it was still something.
Currently, Lucas has unlocked three shelves on the system store. With a wallet of seventy five system coins, he could get some items there.
The Bronze Grade and Silver Grade Cards increased Lucas' survivability and also gave him the ability to resist, even if the Oklo Dynasty was after his life.
However, his greatest profit was finally completing the ingredient requirement for the miracle medicine. All that remained was to work on it.
