Two weeks went by in what almost felt like a flash. During the two weeks, business had been great for Lucas and he was making bank. He even extended the daily limit for his services, thanks to Melissa's improvement. Although Lucas had yet to reach millionaire status, thanks to the system's tax rate as well as Baylands city-state's tax, he was still quite financially buoyant.

With the passage of two weeks, the joint exhibition to be held by both the Silverine Factory and the Seven Stars Spring Dealership arrived.

Unlike the exposition banquet held by the Versailles Group, the exhibition show was scheduled in West Wing district.

When asked why this was so, Maessen's reply was as follows: Follow current novels on N0velFire.ɴet

"The Silver Star Exhibition is the very first exhibition show jointly held by the Silverine Factory and the Seven Stars Spring Dealership. The exhibition is targeted at not just stellar processor companies and related industries, but also vestige-smiths. It is basically common sense for this event to be held within the centre of the community.

"It's not a fine-dining experience, but an event for members of the community to witness an incredible moment that would definitely go down in the history books."

When Maessen's short speech was broadcast and uploaded in various forums, it blew up in the community and got many people talking. Some commenters even noticed the short dig at the Versailles Group, who hosted their exposition banquet in the city's upscale resident area.

The fact that the Versailles Group had hosted their event in the Central Prefecture district didn't seem like much before; if anything, most thought it to be normal. However, Maessen's decision to host the Silver Star Exhibition in West Wing district, alongside his speech, made people see things in a different light.

It was as if Maessen was acknowledging the industry's hands whereas Emery had appealed to the industry's executives. Naturally, this made many in the vestige-smithing industry subconsciously side with the Silverine Factory and applaud their action.

Those who paid attention already knew that the battle had begun and the cooperation of the Silverine Factory and the Seven Stars Spring Dealership had already scored a point. Nonetheless, they were still far behind, but it was still a positive response.

The West Wing district was one of Baylands City's biggest districts —only behind the residential area, Eastern Crown district. It was also home to a lot of businesses, companies and notable individuals. As a result, it had quite a few classy and exclusive locations.

Even though Maessen's speech made it seem like he appealed to the masses, the event still had to be held in a suitable location. Hence, the first Silver Star Exhibition took place at a hotel in Amrius Estate, one of the few upscale regions in West Wing district. The hotel had an event centre separate from the main building but still run by the same management.

Unsurprisingly, the owner of the two properties was the Ross family, the backer of the Silverine Factory and close allies to the Mertens family —who backed Lucas' Seven Stars Spring Dealership.

Although the Ross family was more into the technology industry, they still owned a few random businesses like the hotel.

When Lucas and Melissa arrived in the chartered private luxury sare shuttle provided by the Silverine Factory, the event venue was already more than half-full. Many of the invited guests had already showed up even though there was still half an hour until the start of the exhibition.

"Over here."

"Please smile at the camera."

"Over here, sir."

The calls of the paparazzi echoed into Lucas' ears as he glanced towards the right hand side.

A red carpet had been set up with the guests and VIPs having to walk through this path before they got into the barricaded environment of the event hall. CEOs, reputable vestige-smiths and dignified personnel stood at different points on the red carpet, with some simply just walking by and ignoring the crowd as they headed inside.

Compared to the Versailles Group's exposition banquet, Maessen had allowed for more members of the press and the paparazzi to attend this event. In this technological age, it seemed quite strange that this occupation still existed, but the majority of them were actually robots.

"Are you ready?" Garbed in a refined black suit and stylish black shoes, Lucas glanced at Melissa who quietly stood beside him.

The little girl was dressed in a red gown that Vienna had gotten her during one of their shopping sprees.

It was an evening gown with off shoulder sleeves and 3-d butterfly figures stitched on it.

"Hmm." The little girl nodded.

Compared to half a year ago, she was much more confident and calm.

The duo then proceeded towards the red carpet as they made their way into the venue. Lucas had no intention to pause and pose; in fact, he didn't even want to attend from the start if not for the fact that his presence would be more impactful and aid the company's success. So it was unsurprising that Lucas had no interest to strike a good pose for the camera.

However, that didn't mean that he would be ignored by the media.

Every guest on the invitation list was someone with a bit of fame, so it was only natural for the paparazzi to make sure they had at least one shot of the character. However, for the more popular figures, they aimed to get as many shots as possible.

Ignoring the fact that the robots had a dedicated and rapid memory, as well as improved visual acuity, which allowed them to recognise all the guests

by their posture, walking style or even the shape of their butt, the hyuman staff were similarly educated in this regard.

Lucas originally thought that with all the noise and individuals on the red carpet, he could easily sneak by without getting spotted. But he was just too hopeful for the unlikely.

How could the paparazzi not be well-informed about one of the major stars of the event, who also happened to be the only human on the guest list? Furthermore, Lucas was the only human being residing in West Wing district.

If the robots could identify Lucas by his body movements and shape, the hyumans could identify him by the lack of a resonance —a unique sensation that all hyumans felt from each other.

"Mr. Lucas, please look this way."

"Mr. Lucas, please!"

"Smile at the camera!"

"Little girl, here!"

Lucas, hand-in-hand with Melissa, walked cooly over to the other side. Occasionally, Lucas glanced at Melissa to see how she was holding up, and seeing as she was doing okay, he would silently nod. The very second he felt that she was uncomfortable, Lucas wouldn't mind picking her up and running towards the other side. But there was no need to do that, and it was best for Melissa to get used to various scenarios.

It didn't take long for the duo to reach the end of the twenty metres long red carpet path.

As the exhibition hall wasn't open, there was an open-air space right in front of it. The space was decorated with a warm but elegant theme with a few floating cushions set by the side. A long table that was littered with trays filled with appetisers and deserts was set up by the side. Stewards navigated amidst the crowd, providing the guests with their choice of drinks, ranging from alcohol to fruit juice.

The view was quite similar to the Versailles Group's Exposition banquet, but the ambience was different from it.

While Lucas and Melissa took in the sights, a voice called out to them.

"You're here already."

Lucas turned to the source of the sound and was greeted by a few familiar faces.

In the lead was a man with an azure blue hair with facials that were of a lighter tone. He wore a navy blue Turkish suit with black shoes to go with them. He was none other than the head of the Mertens family and a reliable ally, Russell Mertens. Beside him were his children, Laura and Vergil.

Vergil wore an Egyptian blue waistcoat with a black trench coat draped over it. Below, he wore a black pair of trousers with a pair of black Oxford shoes that were etched with mysterious nigh invisible runes.

As for Laura, she wore a stunning dark navy spaghetti strap dress that extended all the way down to cover her feet and exposed her back. The silky dress had a slit by the right thigh area, but was easily covered up by the excess material. Even though it was on the minimal side, when paired with her blue hair, it gave off a graceful and elegant vibe that elevated Laura's beauty.

The Mertens trio were definitely well dressed for the occasional, making heads turn at the sight of them together.

"It seems like I still wasn't fast." Lucas smiled as he shook hands with Russell.

Even though, physically speaking, there was an age gap between them, Lucas didn't mind. If anything, he was actually the old fossil here.

"It's been a while. I apologize for not coming to see you soon. Recently, I've been too busy trying to handle a special business partner." Russell explained as he showed a remorseful expression.

"There's no problem. I had your son to keep me busy so don't worry about it." Lucas replied.

Seeing the head of the Mertens family didn't really matter to Lucas since he had already ascertained the former's objective. As both sides could benefit from each other, the cooperation was profitable to the two and that was all that mattered.

The two conversed for a while until a newcomer that no one had expected had shown up.
