Birth Of The Crafts-God-Chapter 226: New Mission: Explore The Relics
"Well, good bye." Ronny and his group nodded towards Lucas before leaving the store.
Meanwhile, the latter was all smiles as he watched them leave. This was because the group had brought a large sum of money his way. In total, they had bought three vestiges from him. Naturally, Lucas would be pleased.
After Ando got the new vestige in his hands, he tried it out in the simulation room under the eyes of the other four. They discovered that the power of the vestige, despite merely being Grade 2, could already compare with some Grade 3 vestiges in the market; and this was a hot weapon. Usually, hot weapon vestiges weren’t known to be able to surpass their grade limit; only cold-weapons could pull this off, hence why the group was surprised and eventually bought two more.
After they left, Lucas finally settled down and glanced at his stem interface. There was a new mission on the notification page.
[[ Mission Overview: As the successor to the Crafts-god, you should broaden your knowledge in all aspects of crafting, especially with inscriptions and technology.
Mission description: You have discovered a new rune. Investigate more about it and master this new inscription. Also, explore a few relics for clues. Please complete this within two months.
Reward: ’Basic Inscription Knowledge’ tome, ten system coins.
Penalty: 20% decrease in experience points. ]]
The new mission appeared right after Lucas had asked Ronny where he found the ring. Lucas was interested in magi runes, which appeared so similar to magic runes. He had wanted to find out whether there was some sort of connection between the two as this could help answer some of his questions. It also gave him hope that he could maybe one day return to his original world.
The new mission had piqued Lucas’ interest especially since it had been so long since he had received a mission from the system. It had been stuck in level 3 for a month now, and Lucas was beginning to get concerned. He was very close to the level 5 checkpoint, so suddenly having his momentum brought to a pause made Lucas uncomfortable. Find your next read at novelbuddy
’Just like the old ones.’ Lucas thought after reading the description.
It was pretty much one of the system’s exploration missions that would send him into a dangerous location as usual.
’However, this timeline...’ Lucas frowned.
Compared to the previous ones, it was most likely that this mission was tougher. The reason was because of the duration given by the system.
Usually, the longer the duration for a mission was, the more difficult it was. This difficulty didn’t always imply a life or death risk, but considered various other factors that could impede the mission’s progress. However, based on the mission description, it was obvious that Lucas would have to go to a danger zone, after all, every relic had a certain degree of risk involved.
Since there was a degree of risk coinciding with this lengthy mission, it was quite obvious that the difficulty here wouldn’t be just limited to immense mental or physical stress. There might even be a possibility of Lucas losing his life even though it wasn’t included as a penalty.
Nonetheless, Lucas had to accept this mission. Ignoring the penalty, the rewards were marvelous whether it was the ten system coins or the tome.
Every single tome Lucas had gained from the system was invaluable and contained a whole bunch of information and knowledge that he previously knew nothing about.
Take for instance, the ’Introduction to Vestige-smithing’ Lucas bought in the system shop, which eventually taught him about stellar circuits —a high level inscription. The tome wasn’t just limited to stellar circuits, and was more like an encyclopaedia for vestige-smithing. It was thanks to it that Lucas was able to create powerful hot weapons, complete his Stellar Circuit Battle-Armour. He had even learnt how to make fighter jets from the tome, albeit Lucas had yet to produce one.
Prior to the ’Introduction to Vestige-smithing’, there was the ’An Adventurer’s Manual’ tome, which was equally valuable to Lucas. It provided him with knowledge about the metals, minerals and monsters in this world, enabling Lucas to assimilate easily into the world. It had even given Lucas the necessary knowledge to be able to read a star map or estimate the orbiting direction of a planet. Although Lucas didn’t know how useful this information was, it was definitely not useless.
With two experiences with tomes from the system, Lucas treated everyone as a holy book for his career path. What’s more, the tome put up for a reward was even more exquisite than the previous two. Just its title, ’Basic Inscription Knowledge’, attracted Lucas’ attention so much that he couldn’t help staring at those words for a while longer.
Even if the system coins weren’t put up as a reward, Lucas would have still done his best to complete this mission for both the experience points and the tome.
’The requirement is to learn more about magi runes, master it, and explore the relics Ronny mentioned.’ Lucas tapped his finger on the table as he went into a contemplative state.
Learning the runes wasn’t a difficult issue. Lucas could do as other vestige-smiths did and purchase artefacts from similar relics. However, that would be costly, even for him, although he could somewhat bear the price. The major problem was in the relics.
From Ronny’s description, the relics he went to was one of the more deadly ones. Although its danger level wasn’t exaggerated, it was a place that not just anyone could go into. Even a third level stellar practitioner had a high chance of dying, while fourth level stellar practitioners would face a huge risk in the inner regions of the relics.
Ronny had only explored the outer regions of the relics which was why he returned with only one artefact at peak Grade 1. If he had gone into the inner section of the relics, he might have found something more valuable, or even lost his life.

To Lucas who had zero stellar refinement capabilities, going to the same relics was a huge risk, even with the system skills and his experience. As such, he decided to put his focus elsewhere.

Meanwhile in Baylands City...
The city still remained prosperous as always even after the entire fiasco with the Seven Sparks Forge store. This was understandable since the people of the city were too occupied either with their daily lives or occupations. With the existence of the large intranet that covered the entire planet, and even the solar system, there was no lack of events to attract their attention.
With at least one month having gone by, the Seven Sparks Forge was a forgotten entity in the vestige-smith industry.
But even if the people had forgotten all about it, the upper echelons of the city had not. To them, the Seven Sparks Forge was an opportunity to transcend their current status and potentially rise to a superpower on the planet, or if their luck was any better, the solar system. Having lost this opportunity when it was literally in the palm of their hands, one could only imagine how they felt.
As a result of this, even after quite a significant time had gone by, they were still pained by Lucas’ disappearance.
"What did the Baylands City Patrol Corps say?"
In the main house of the Bergs family estate, the current head of the family, Fredor Bergs, sat on his study while going through some documents.
In front of him stood a man with purple hair, who happened to be the target of the question. The man was the head of the Von Klaus family, a reputed family that ran a few vestige dealerships in the other fifteen districts of the city-state.
The Von Klaus family was actually a subordinate of the Bergs family, and not many people even knew about this; at least the public wasn’t aware.
"The West Wing district’s branch has no comments on it. Since we didn’t go through them, they didn’t bother to assist us. Initially, this wasn’t a problem, but with the target’s disappearance, we can’t exchange information with them."
*Bang*
Fredor slammed his fist on the desk.
"Those bastards..."
After two generations of city lords, the Central Prefecture district’s BCPC had some members of the Bergs family within, which made it easy for Fredor to manipulate the department. However, the West Wing district’s branch was different. It remained under the firm control of the city lord.
When Lucas was placed under house arrest in his store, it was actually the members of the BCPC Central Prefecture district branch that had surrounded the area. Because they had overstepped their area of jurisdiction, the West Wing district’s director was incensed. Knowing he couldn’t stop them, the director decided not to cooperate and let the Central Prefecture district’s branch do as they pleased, so long as it was within the area around the Seven Sparks Forge store.
But with Lucas suddenly disappearing, the Central Prefecture district’s branch had wanted to cooperate with the West Wing district’s branch and utilise their security firmwares and systems to track Lucas down. But the director refused to assist them.
Naturally, this sparked an argument between the two branches, and it took the commissioner of police needing to step in for the matter to be sorted out.
Recently however, investigation was still ongoing to track down Lucas and once again, the Central Prefecture district’s BCPC branch needed to collaborate with the West Wing district’s branch. However, the latter branch still refused to work with them.
Due to this, Fredor became incensed as he knew that every single moment and piece of information mattered.
