Binjiang Police Affairs-Chapter 475 - 336: How to Get It Back!
A military adviser from the local Military Department arrived to take Han Yu to the City Committee.
Despite Han Yu’s insistence that everything was fine, he was currently at odds with someone, so how could Director Li let Han Yu walk into the lion’s den alone?
Initially, Director Li planned to accompany Han Yu himself, but considering that if he were also to be put under house arrest or encountered any other situation, the Joint Special Task Force would be left headless. Thus, he decided to have the deputy director of Four Factory Police Station, Jianghai, and the instructor from the Water Police Third Team, Chen Zikun, go with Salted Fish.
The most worried about Han Yu was Han Ning, who took the initiative to volunteer to go together.
Thinking that the other party, no matter how unreasonable, was unlikely to trouble a female comrade, Director Li discussed with Old Zhang and Director Yu of the Zhuangming Police Department, and they ultimately decided to let Chen Zikun and Zhang Lan go.
The main reason for not letting Han Ning go was the worry that the Han siblings shouldn’t be put in danger at the same time.
Han Yu was well aware that there was no danger, but Director Feng told him over a secure phone line to keep it a secret and not to explain to everyone, so Han Yu could only take Chen Zikun and Zhang Lan with him and get into the Military Department’s vehicle.
Knowing that the Military Department had been mobilized made Chen Zikun very tense, as he secretly considered how to respond if the other party got tough.
Zhang Lan, somewhat careless by nature, was not worried about any danger. She felt that they couldn’t lose momentum to the other side. Before getting into the car, she let Chen Zikun sit in the passenger seat and then snatched Han Yu’s briefcase after boarding. Upon thinking it over, she also took Han Yu’s phone, playing the role of Han Yu’s female secretary.
Chen Zikun could clearly see her good intentions, thinking if you’re playing the secretary, then I’ll play the bodyguard, and subconsciously touched the gun at his waist.
Han Yu really couldn’t understand what was so important that it had to be discussed over a secure phone line.
Even more puzzling was why Director Feng, having been transferred to Cosco, which wasn’t a department of the Central Committee, could simply use a secure line when he said so, and also involved the local Military Department.
Still unable to figure it out, the Military Department’s Cherokee jeep had already driven into the City Committee compound.
A comrade in his fifties wearing an old military uniform came to meet them, and the Military Department’s adviser hurriedly got out of the car to introduce him.
Turns out he was the Minister of the Military Department...
Han Yu quickly stood at attention to salute and showed his credentials, introducing himself.
Although Minister Yang was a City Committee Member, he rarely interfered with the city’s affairs and was unaware of the ’grudge’ that the person in front of him had with the city.
As he led Han Yu and the other two upstairs, he introduced them in accented Mandarin, "Comrade Han Yu, our Military Department has secure phones, and so does the Police Bureau, but the one that meets the secrecy level is only this one in Secretary Zhong’s office."
"Minister Yang, are you saying we’re going to use the phone in Secretary Zhong’s office?"
"Don’t worry, I have already spoken to Secretary Zhong about it."
Just as Han Yu was about to say something polite, asking if it would affect Secretary Zhong’s work, he suddenly saw Chief Dai, whom he had seen yesterday, looking over from the end of the corridor.
A leader in a white shirt, over fifty, glanced over a few times and then walked into an office at the end of the corridor, accompanied by another leader.
Chief Dai nodded from a distance and then also entered the office.
"Comrade Han Yu, we’ve arrived."
The old Minister stopped, pushing open a door.
Han Yu hesitated for a moment before entering to see a young man with glasses waiting inside.
The office wasn’t large but was well-furnished, even more prestigious than Director Feng’s previous office.
That being said, although Director Feng previously enjoyed the treatment of a deputy bureau level as the Port Supervision Director, it wasn’t comparable to the in-charge of the local Party Committee.
As Han Yu was silently marveling that he had come to the day when he was in the Secretary’s office to answer a phone call, Minister Yang did not introduce the young man’s identity but looked at his watch and said, "Comrade Han Yu, when the call comes through, I will pick it up first and then hand the phone over to you. Chief Chen and I will keep watch outside for you."
The head of the Military Department was going to personally guard outside, indicating that Director Feng’s information must be of great importance.
Han Yu did not dare to take it lightly and subconsciously looked towards Chen Zikun and Zhang Lan at the door.
Chen Zikun quickly responded, "Captain Han, we’ll also keep watch outside later."
"Captain Han, your bag."
Zhang Lan, in sync, brought in the briefcase, curiously took a look at the Secretary’s office environment, and quickly stepped out.
The old Minister waited with Han Yu for about ten minutes before the red secure phone rang.
The young man with glasses answered the call, confirmed who the caller was looking for, and then handed the phone over to the old Minister. Seeming somewhat uneasy, he glanced at Han Yu before quickly exiting the office.
"Comrade Han Yu is here, right by my side, please rest assured, Commander, I am guarding outside in person!"
The old Minister handed the phone to Han Yu, turned, and left the office, closing the door behind him.
Han Yu steeled his nerves and asked cautiously, "Director Feng?"
"Did I scare you?"
"No, Director Feng, what is it all about?"
Director Feng was sitting in an office of the General Staff Equipment Department, looking up at two senior officers, and pressed the speakerphone button, "Salted Fish, have you ever heard of a Kilo-class submarine?"
Han Yu quickly responded, "I’ve heard of it."
"How much have you heard and how well do you know this type of submarine?"
"Director Feng, I am police, not Navy. I only know roughly some details."
"Tell me what you know."
"It’s a conventional submarine designed by the former Soviet Union’s Rubis Design Bureau and started construction at the Amur Komsomolsk-on-Amur Shipyard. The initial shipyard number seemed to be B-248, and then they built B-260 and B-227, which were supposed to be training submarines for different fleets, training seed crew members. Officially named ’Bimu Fish,’ it was first photographed by the United States the following year and was given the name ’Kilo’."
