Chapter 18 - 018: Please Don't Talk Nonsense in Front of the Kids

Yan Xinxin's plea for help snapped Mo Chuxi out of his daze.

He hadn't even noticed that the two little ones had already gotten into the car.

"Mo Chuxi..."

Yan Xinxin called out again.

A strange sensation stirred in Mo Chuxi's chest.

It seemed that no one had ever addressed him so directly by his full name before, especially not a woman.

Oddly enough, it didn't sound bad?

Lost in thought, he glanced at Yan Xinxin standing in the rain. Without overthinking it, he got out of the car and helped load her suitcase into the trunk.

Once inside the car, the warmth was a welcome relief.

However, Yan Xinxin, dripping wet and aware that she'd soiled his luxurious car, started to feel uneasy.

"Could you drop us off at a hotel... um... something reasonably priced?"

Yan Xinxin spoke softly, but when she didn't hear a response for a while, she looked up to find a dry towel being handed to her.

Mo Chuxi opened his mouth. His tone was still as pleasant as ever, but distant.

"Dry off."

"..."

Yan Xinxin was momentarily stunned, unsure if Mo Chuxi was being considerate or if he was annoyed that she had dampened his car.

"Thank you."

Whatever the reason, she took the towel.

Raising her eyes slightly, she glanced at Mo Chuxi.

There truly were some people in the world whose every angle seemed flawlessly crafted.

Even without a trace of a smile, and with apathy bordering on hostility, his demeanor only made him irresistibly captivating.

Mo Chuxi was undoubtedly favored by the heavens — handsome, affluent, young, and capable.

It was no surprise that someone like him would be the dream man of countless women.

"Had your fill of looking? A guy as handsome as me isn't something you're qualified to ogle at for too long."

"..."

"Mo Chuxi, please don't spout nonsense in front of the kids."

"Am I talking nonsense?"

Mo Chuxi retorted, his deep eyes flicking toward the rearview mirror.

Two young faces stared back innocently — clearly siblings.

Retracting his gaze, an inexplicable heaviness settled in his chest, and in response, he firmly pressed down on the accelerator.

Yan Xinxin's heart wasn't just racing at this point; her entire mind was in disarray!

The two little ones in the backseat exchanged wide-eyed, confused looks, entirely clueless about the adults' conversation.

Yan Xinxin feared that if she kept talking to Mo Chuxi, she might combust on the spot. She decided to stay silent.

About twenty minutes later, the car came to a halt, and the rain had stopped.

But this wasn't a hotel — it was an upscale apartment building in the suburbs.

"I asked to go to a hotel. Why did you bring me here?"

Yan Xinxin was baffled.

Mo Chuxi's long eyes flicked toward her briefly before he nonchalantly stepped out and slammed the door shut.

"If you want to go to a hotel, go on your own. I don't have time."

"..."

What the hell?! He actually just walked off!

"Mo Chuxi, wait a minute!"

Frustrated to no end, Yan Xinxin had no choice but to take the two little ones and follow him.

She had imagined Mo Chuxi living with family in a sprawling, luxurious villa, but to her surprise, he lived alone in an apartment.

The 55th floor — the top floor of the complex.

Mo Chuxi swiped his card to enter the apartment. Turning around, he saw Yan Xinxin standing there holding the hands of the two children, her petite face sullen as she glared at him.

"Come in."
