Chapter 744: Chapter 624: Fourth Brother, I’ve Seen Danton! (Three Updates)

"Mom, where are Dad and my brother?" Ai Ni asked as she took her son from Tong Yao’s arms.

"Your sister-in-law’s parents will be arriving soon. Your dad and brother went with Uncle Muta to the airport." Tong Yao smiled as she glanced at the Queen of Beidi. "We should head to the palace shortly as well."

"I think I’ll skip it." The Queen of Beidi chuckled uncomfortably. "I usually avoid such occasions."

Yi Luowa smiled at her. "Auntie, I’ll go with you. It’s good to attend these gatherings more often. Chatting with everyone will brighten your mood."

"Exactly. Just go and sit for a bit. Besides, Tong Yao and Luowa will be there with you." Yan Zi affectionately tousled Ziyan’s hair. "Your grandma will be here soon—are you excited?"

Ziyan nodded with a grin. "Happy!"

Sangyu turned her head towards her mother. "Mama, when is Grandma arriving?"

"She’ll be here soon. You two play with your little brother for a while, then go get changed."

Sangyu pouted and looked at Dylan. "Dylan, come sit here and play with us."

With so many people around, Dylan’s wide eyes darted from one person to another. Hearing his sister call him, he let out a couple of "ya ya" sounds.

"Ya ya..." Dylan had barely finished when more sounds came from downstairs. Everyone’s gaze turned to see Connie descending with Ziheng in her arms.

Connie beamed. "I guessed you two would arrive around now, so I came down to check."

"Are Joyina and Youyou asleep?" Little Raindrop said with a smile, taking Ziheng from her arms.

"No, they’re excited knowing you’re here. They told me to call them down as soon as you arrived."

"No need to wake them. Ai Ni and I will go up shortly." Little Raindrop stroked Ziheng’s chubby cheek. "This little face is getting so round."

After everyone sat downstairs for a while, Little Raindrop and Ai Ni headed upstairs. Tong Yao glanced at the time and turned to Yi Luowa. "Shall we go? Your sister is back, and with her and your aunt here, we don’t need to worry."

Yi Luowa nodded in agreement and looked at the still-hesitant Queen of Beidi. "Auntie, I’ll accompany you to pack up."

"No need; I’ll go up myself. You focus on getting the kids ready." The Queen of Beidi rose as she spoke.

Once they had everything organized, they piled into the car and headed to the palace. Leon accompanied them until Emperor Haotian and Empress Haotian arrived.

The Empress greeted everyone warmly, scrutinizing her daughter’s appearance. Seeing how much better she looked compared to her return, the Empress smiled in relief.

The two little ones, knowing their grandparents were both unwell, refrained from letting them carry them. Instead, they held hands and quietly followed their grandparents.

After lunch, King Muta chuckled. "Randy, it’s been a long day for you both. Let’s not discuss politics. Go back with Long Che to rest for a couple of days. Once you’re refreshed, we can talk."

Emperor Haotian nodded with a smile. "That sounds good. We wouldn’t want to make a poor impression looking this exhausted."

Hearing that they could go home, Sangyu and Ziyan grinned. Holding hands, the siblings stood up and gave Muta and Royce a deep bow. "Goodbye, Grandpa and Grandma."

"These two little rascals! They kept a straight face while eating with me, but the moment they heard they could leave, just look at their smiles!" Muta pulled the two children into his arms. "You’re not leaving until you give Grandpa Muta a kiss."

Sangyu turned back to look at her biological grandfather.

Long Che smiled. "Grandpa Muta washed his face—it’s not dirty."

"Haha... We’d better not let you raise the kids. You’ll turn them into germaphobes before long," Muta teased as he glanced at Long Che.

Sangyu wrinkled her little nose, stood on tiptoe, and planted a kiss on his cheek.

Seeing his sister kiss him, Ziyan followed suit, kissing the other side of Muta’s cheek.

Muta laughed contentedly and saw the family off as they left the palace.

Once they were in the car, Tong Airui looked at his wife. "Is the Old Seventh staying at our place?"

"No, he went to Crescent Island. Why, do you need him for something?"

Tong Airui frowned slightly. "What’s he doing there? I have a team member who’s had a bad headache for a while. I was hoping the Old Seventh could take someone to check him out."

"He’s there for a surgery. Since he’s gone, you can ask Shanshan."

"That’ll have to do. When we get back, please talk to Shanshan and have her arrange for an expert. I find it exhausting to talk to her myself."

Yi Luowa gave him a playful glare.

The Empress Haotian overheard but pretended not to. Even so, everyone knew that Shanshan’s unhurried manner did make conversations with her a bit trying.

Once they reached home, Emperor Haotian and Empress Haotian went to check on Youyou and Joyina before visiting the children.

What impressed everyone was how, despite everything the Haotian family had gone through, the Emperor and Empress never imposed their grief on anyone.

In truth, their composure only made people ache for them more. Everyone tried to keep the atmosphere light and cheerful around them to avoid triggering painful memories.

Noticing the collective care being taken, the Empress smiled and said, "Randy and I will rest for a bit. You can all relax now."

Tong Yao chuckled. "Have we become such good actors that you still caught on?"

"Truly, thank you all. Randy and I are fine, really." The Empress glanced at Tong Yao with a warm smile. "You don’t need to keep us company. We’ll visit Luowa for a bit and then go rest in our room."

Yi Luowa playfully tapped the kids on their little behinds. "You two go with your grandparents to their room. I’ll be back after a quick word with your Seventh Aunt."

Sangyu and Ziyan obediently nodded, holding their grandparents’ hands as they headed to the bedroom.

Jimo Shanshan asked slowly, "Fourth Sister-in-law, are you looking for me?"

"There’s a warrior dealing with persistent headaches. Could you arrange for an expert to check on him?"

"Sure, I’ll arrange it now. When can the patient come to the hospital?"

"If a doctor’s available, tomorrow would be best. The sooner, the better."

Jimo Shanshan nodded and slowly took out her phone.

Yi Luowa glanced at her and quickly looked away. This woman—ignoring her was easier than watching her sluggish pace.

While Jimo Shanshan scrolled through her contacts, her phone rang. Seeing the caller ID, she moved unusually fast and answered in a flash.

"Honey, are you there yet?" 𝒻𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝘯𝘰𝑣ℯ𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝘮

"Find the Fourth Brother immediately and tell him to stop calling me. I have something urgent to discuss with him," Maizekai’s urgent voice came through the line.

"Four... Fourth Brother..." Jimo Shanshan glanced around. "He’s not in the living room. I’ll look for him."

"Hurry. No matter how important he seems right now, tell him to drop it—I need to talk to him ASAP."

"Alright—" Jimo Shanshan turned her head to Yi Luowa. "Where’s Fourth Brother?"

"In the study. Seventh Brother’s looking for him?"

"Yes."

"I’ll fetch him." Yi Luowa stood up and quickly made her way to the study.

Tong Airui was on the phone when Yi Luowa mouthed, "Old Seventh is looking for you. It’s urgent."

Tong Airui hesitated for a moment. "Xing Can, let’s settle this for now. If you have any questions, call me anytime."

Once the other party responded, Tong Airui put down the phone and asked, "Isn’t he at Crescent Island? What’s so urgent? While I was talking to Xing Can earlier, he kept calling non-stop."

"If it’s this urgent, it must be serious. Call him back... wait..." Yi Luowa’s words were interrupted by Tong Airui’s phone buzzing again.

Tong Airui glanced at the screen. "Looks like it really is pressing—he’s calling again."

"Answer it already!" Yi Luowa rolled her eyes as he leisurely delayed pressing the button.

Tong Airui grinned. "That’s just how he is. He rarely answers on the first ring either."

"You two and your games!" Yi Luowa left the room in exasperation.

Tong Airui finally took the call. "Old Seventh..."

"Fourth Brother, I saw Danton at Crescent Island!"

Tong Airui clutched the phone tightly. "What did you just say?"

"The person they asked me to operate on—it’s Danton!"

Tong Airui could scarcely believe his ears. "Say that again!"

"Danton! I saw Danton!"

"You’re saying you’re going to operate on him? What’s wrong with him?"

"He has a blood clot in his brain. The situation isn’t great. What do you think—should I operate now, or wait for you all to arrive?"

Tong Airui frowned deeply. "Are you suggesting there’s a risk he won’t make it through surgery?"

"...I’m a doctor. I have to consider that possibility. But I’ll give it my all."

"Old Seventh, I’m begging you—please save Danton!" Tong Airui glanced at the time. "Start the surgery now. We’ll head right over."

"Fourth Brother, if something goes wrong..."

"Old Seventh, don’t say ’if’... I don’t want to pressure you. Just do your best."

"I will, I promise! Fourth Brother, when you tell Fourth Sister-in-law about this, make sure not to scare her. I avoided calling her for this reason."

"Thank you, my brother!" Tong Airui pushed open the door, saying as he walked, "I’m going to inform my wife and my in-laws. Keep in close contact."
