Billionaire's Long Journey of Chasing His Love-Chapter 723 - 609: The Results Are Out, Congratulations Princess! (3)
Tong Airui chuckled, "Don’t worry, I won’t ask who the father of your child is."
Yi Luowa playfully pinched him, "You’re incorrigible! I said there’s no one, and that’s final! When I was pregnant with Huai Sangyu and Ziyan back then, I was always sleepy and constantly hungry, no matter how much I ate."
"Seems about right."
The director pushed the door open and walked in. "Princess, the blood test results will take a little while. Shall I take you for an electrocardiogram in the meantime?"
"Alright." Yi Luowa stood up and glanced down at Tong Airui. "You wait for me here; the ECG won’t take long."
"I’ll come with you." Tong Airui stood up right away. At this moment, he didn’t want to leave his wife’s side even for a second.
His wife entered the ECG room, while the Fourth Lord stood guard outside, his mind filled with restless thoughts.
Tong Airui narrowed his eyes slightly, pushing away those inappropriate images crowding his head.
He leaned towards the director standing beside him and quietly asked, "Director, Luowa said she had her period once before. If she’s truly pregnant, is such a phenomenon possible?"
"It happens in some cases. If the princess is indeed pregnant, this child must have an exceptionally strong vitality. During this time, the princess has been working tirelessly day and night. I’ve seen it all while here at the hospital."
Tong Airui clenched his fingers. His wife truly worked too hard. Whether pregnant or not, he needed to find ways to properly nourish her.
The ECG room door opened, and the doctor walked out with Yi Luowa, handing the report to the director. "The heart shows no issues."
"That’s good!" The director smiled in relief. "Princess, why don’t you go rest in my office for now. I’ll go check on the blood test results."
As the director finished speaking, the lab technician rushed in. "The results are ready—congratulations, Princess!"
Upon hearing "congratulations," Yi Luowa’s mind buzzed; she was doomed. Tong Airui definitely wouldn’t admit this child was his.
But to her surprise, Tong Airui broke into a smile. "Is it confirmed she’s pregnant?"
"Yes, she is!" The technician handed over the results.
Tong Airui took the report and pretended to read it, but all he saw were numbers and letters he couldn’t make sense of!
"How far along is she?" Yi Luowa asked nervously.
The director walked over with a smile. "Princess, let’s do an ultrasound. We’ll find out then."
Yi Luowa looked at Tong Airui miserably. "Honey..."
Tong Airui couldn’t hide his grin. "I’ll go with you."
"Honey, how can you be smiling at a time like this?!" Hadn’t he sworn before that he never wanted kids again?
"I’m going to be a dad again! Why wouldn’t I be happy?" Tong Airui laughed, scooping her up into his arms.
Yi Luowa gazed at him with wide eyes.
Tong Airui laughed and said, "Let’s go see how big our ’Little Third’ is."
"...Can we not call it ’Little Third’? It’s awful!" Yi Luowa glared at him playfully.
Tong Airui chuckled, "Fine, let’s call it ’Old Third.’ Hey, it’s true—our family is welcoming an ’Old Third.’"
Yi Luowa pursed her lips and smiled. "You seem more excited about this baby than me. You used to say you never wanted another—what changed your mind?"
"This is a gift from heaven; how could I not be happy?" Tong Airui laughed, kissing her forehead affectionately.
In the ultrasound room, Tong Airui carefully laid Yi Luowa onto the bed and crouched down to remove her shoes.
"Luckily, I’m experienced now; things are second nature to me." Tong Airui chuckled, rubbing her head gently. "Don’t be nervous."
Yi Luowa grabbed his hand. "I wasn’t nervous at first, but now that you said that, I suddenly am."
"I’m with you." Tong Airui reassured her with a smile, lifting his wife’s shirt.
"How many?" As soon as the device touched his wife’s stomach, Tong Airui couldn’t wait to ask.
"Duke Airui, don’t be so impatient." The doctor chuckled, steadily moving the device. "Only one gestational sac."
Tong Airui let out a long sigh of relief. Not twins this time, thank goodness—his wife had suffered too much with the last two.
"How far along?" This was Yi Luowa’s most pressing concern; she hadn’t done a thing yet, and she needed to clear her name.
"Nine weeks."
Tong Airui calculated quickly and then grinned at Yi Luowa, "Honey, I’m impressed with you! You’ve been pregnant once before, yet you didn’t even realize it the second time."
Yi Luowa wasn’t on the same wavelength at all. She blinked, "Have I really been here for that long?"
"What do you think?"
"But this baby is so well-behaved, not giving me any symptoms at all."
The doctor smiled, "The little one must care about Mom. You’ve been so busy—if the baby reacted too strongly, you’d have had a much harder time."
"True—our little ’Third’ is so thoughtful." Yi Luowa smiled, looking at the screen. "This one must be a girl, being so considerate."
The doctor shook his head. "The shape of the gestational sac is rectangular. While it’s not a 100% certainty, this shape usually indicates a boy."
Yi Luowa pouted.
Tong Airui kissed her forehead with a smile, "Don’t be disappointed; boy or girl, they’re both treasures."
He then turned to the doctor. "Doctor, how’s the baby’s health?"
"You can rest assured—very healthy!" The doctor removed the ultrasound device and reached for tissues to clean Yi Luowa’s belly.
Tong Airui quickly took the tissues, "Let me do it. You get the images ready for me; I’ll take them back so my father-in-law and mother-in-law can have a look."
The doctor complied with a smile.
Tong Airui finished cleaning her up, helped her sit up, adjusted her clothes, and busied himself putting her shoes on.
Yi Luowa smiled and lightly patted his head. "You don’t have to fuss so much. I feel this time won’t be as tough for me as it was with Ziyan and Sangyu."
"How could it not be tough!" Tong Airui supported her as she got off the bed.
Yi Luowa glanced down at her belly and let out a chuckle, "I’m going to be a mom again so soon, and I wasn’t even ready."
"Perfect timing!" Tong Airui smiled, taking the ultrasound images and guiding his wife out of the room.
Once they left the room, Tong Airui grinned at the waiting director. "This time, we’re skipping the physical exam and going straight to prenatal care."
"I’ve already arranged everything. I’ll come along with you."
They stayed at the hospital for a couple of hours, going in and out of various rooms, completing all necessary checkups before heading to meet Chouchou and Wen Jiayue.
Jimo Cong saw them walk in, both beaming, and cracked a joke. "This time, don’t tell me you’re having triplets."
Tong Airui froze. "What makes you think your aunt-in-law is pregnant with triplets?"
"If it’s not triplets, why would you two be smiling like that?" Wen Jiayue teased.
"Just one!" Tong Airui laughed, helping his wife into a seat before asking with a grin, "How was your assessment?"
"It looks promising. Once Aino and Mr. Pu arrive, we’ll discuss further."
"Why didn’t Cancan join you?" Tong Airui asked, gesturing for the waiter to start serving.
"Cancan left everything to us; he’s busy." Jimo Cong laughed. "Like you, he’s going to be a dad again."
Tong Airui laughed upon hearing this. "What a coincidence! This time, he better make sure I get a daughter-in-law."
"That depends on the child, not you!" Jimo Cong joked, looking at Yi Luowa with a smile. "Luowa, you’re amazing. When we received your proposal, we all thought it was Tong Airui’s work. We never imagined it was yours—it’s so bold and full of vision!"
"Are you calling her Luowa?" Tong Airui shot him an unamused look and tapped the table. "Call her aunt-in-law!"
"Do you think she would approve of us calling her that?" Jimo Cong teased, turning to Yi Luowa.
"Please don’t call me aunt-in-law; it’ll make me feel old." Yi Luowa smiled. "I’m bold because I have such great friends like you. This business circle combines eating, drinking, playing, and shopping all in one. The initial investment is massive, and capital recovery won’t be quick. But only big financial groups like yours have the power to invest in something so ambitious."
"Capital recovery timing is not an issue. We’re looking at long-term benefits. If built, this project will be the Fang Yao Continent’s number one in scale, sure to attract many merchants and tourists."
"Tong Airui, are only Zhuoyuan and PCW investing? Aren’t you and Luowa joining in?"
Tong Airui shook his head with a smile. "With our identities, it’s not suitable for us to invest. If the capital isn’t enough, my two uncles will step in with investments. Honestly, neither of them is particularly interested."
Wen Jiayue laughed and nodded, "Your uncles are only passionate about weaponry; it’s understandable they’re not into this."
Jimo Cong grinned, "True enough. With your statuses, you’re better suited for spending money than investing."
Under the table, Yi Luowa tightly clasped Tong Airui’s hand in apology, which only made him laugh. He genuinely didn’t care about money. Besides, Zhuoyuan and PCW both had their shares in the project—no matter how much profit it brought in, they’d benefit.
After sharing lunch with them, Tong Airui and Yi Luowa returned to the palace. As soon as they sat down, Tong Airui called the doctor to come over.
The Queen Haotian looked at him with concern. "Are you feeling unwell?"
"No, I just need to tell Mom and Dad something. I’m worried about your hearts and blood pressure, so I asked the doctor to remain on standby."
The Emperor Haotian paused. "Did something happen again?"
Tong Airui grinned at his father-in-law. "Something did happen, but it’s a happy event this time!"
"Look how you’re making your parents anxious!" Yi Luowa noticed her parents were on edge and patted her husband’s leg before smiling and saying, "Mom, Dad—I’m pregnant again, already over sixty days."
