Billionaire's Long Journey of Chasing His Love-Chapter 714 - 602: Busy as a Top (Second Update)
These past few days, Yi Luowa has been as busy as a spinning top. Fortunately, her parents’ health has been improving day by day, which gave her immense relief.
However, her father being able to get out of bed now was giving her a bit of a headache.
The Disaster Relief and Reconstruction Office was on the fourth floor, and the War Command Room was on the fifth. If her father was in good spirits one day and decided to wander upstairs, or if he wanted to inquire about political affairs, then nothing could be hidden from him.
In the end, it was her mother-in-law who resolved this dilemma for her by bringing over the two children.
As soon as Ziyan and Sangyu arrived, the Emperor Haotian immediately transformed into a personal nanny for the two little ones, forgetting about everything else.
It wasn’t that he didn’t have a grasp of the situation. The main reason was that his daughter and Marcus reported only good news to him every day, and Marcus was constantly praising his daughter in front of him. With such a capable daughter helping him handle political affairs, he felt he could take it easy for a bit and focus on taking care of his wife and two grandchildren.
Actually, there was another significant reason why the Emperor Haotian steered clear of political affairs: the doctors had explicitly told him that even if his blood pressure stabilized, he still couldn’t get too worked up. If his blood pressure shot up again, it could be very dangerous.
With his son still unaccounted for, his blood pressure could surge at any moment. Looking at his wife, daughter, and two grandchildren, Emperor Haotian couldn’t afford to gamble with his own life.
Although no trace of Sato Shoko had been found yet, the division of Country R into three parts was already set in stone.
His son fought the war, but the mess was left for the father to clean up! The key point was that his wife had taken the grandchildren away, and Uncle Che, sitting at his desk, grew more and more irritated the more he thought about it.
Divide it up! Divide it quickly! The sooner it was divided, the sooner he’d have time to spend with his granddaughter.
A meeting was being prepared to discuss how the three nations would split up Country R, and Uncle Che selfishly chose to hold the meeting in Haotian.
Facing negotiations with her father-in-law and an old schoolmate, Yi Luowa truly didn’t have the courage. But Masco insisted that only she could ensure the success of this negotiation.
With the drafted plan in hand, Yi Luowa sat down at the negotiation table with her father-in-law and schoolmate.
Because Haotian was represented by Yi Luowa, both Long Che and Prince Just made major concessions. A non-expert negotiator had managed to completely outmaneuver the two seasoned veterans, securing plenty of benefits.
During the evening banquet, Long Che kept laughing. He had started to learn how to show favoritism.
Once Long Che had laughed his fill, he didn’t forget to tease Prince Just. "Randy is my in-law, so it’s natural for me to make concessions. But I didn’t expect Prince Just to make such significant compromises as well."
Prince Just smiled gently. "I don’t want to play the bad guy."
"What bad guy?" Yi Luowa asked with a smile.
Prince Just raised an eyebrow slightly. "Do you really need to ask, with how clever you are?"
Yi Luowa responded with a laugh, "The support you and my dad gave me this time is something I’m deeply grateful for."
Long Che glanced at Marcus, who was sitting across from him. "The slyest one of all is Marcus!"
"Haha..." In any case, Haotian had gained the most out of this. No matter what others said, Marcus simply maintained his cheerful demeanor with a smile.
"Dad, if you’re not too busy, why don’t you stay here for two more days? Then, you and Mom can take Ziyan and Sangyu back home together," Yi Luowa looked up at Long Che.
Long Che glanced at her. "Take Ziyan and Sangyu away? Will your parents be okay with that?"
Yi Luowa’s gaze darkened slightly. "Whether or not they’re okay, they must go. In three or four days, Mom will be discharged from the hospital. Before she’s discharged, I need to have a frank conversation with them. I’m worried they won’t be able to handle such a big shock and might get sick again. If that happens, I’ll need to take care of both of them and won’t have time for Ziyan and Sangyu."
Long Che furrowed his brows slightly. "Being upfront with them will be better than them hearing it from other sources. Here’s an idea: after we return, let’s have Rui’er come visit. With him around, at least you’ll have someone to talk things through with."
"He’s just finished a war; he must be swamped. Let’s not let him come. I can handle it myself."
Prince Just sighed. "You should still let Duke Rui come. If you keep forcing yourself like this, you’ll collapse."
Yi Luowa pressed her chapped lips together. "If I collapse, it’ll be after I’ve taken care of everything."
Long Che gave a deeply sympathetic look at his daughter-in-law. "Let’s eat. After we finish, go back and rest early. From now on, there won’t be much going on, and Marcus can help share more of the load."
Marcus nodded immediately. "I’ll handle the final tasks, Princess. Don’t worry."
Yi Luowa smiled slightly. "I really do need a good rest for a couple of days. There’s an even bigger battle waiting for me, one that no one else can fight on my behalf."
Long Che let out a sigh, hoping that Randy and Zhi Lan could get through this challenge. That way, Yi Luowa wouldn’t have to struggle so hard.
After the banquet ended and arrangements were made for the officials from the other nations, Yi Luowa and Long Che returned to the hospital.
When they entered, Sangyu was sitting on the sofa with a pout, sulking.
The Emperor Haotian sat beside her, coaxing gently. "You said Grandma doesn’t braid hair prettily. Then who does? Point them out, and Grandpa will bring them here for you."
"Mama!" Sangyu huffed and puffed, folding her arms. "I can’t see her! I never get to see her!"
Yi Luowa let out a wry smile and pushed the door open to enter.
Sangyu and Ziyan noticed their mother and ran toward her excitedly.
Yi Luowa looked at her son lovingly and gently tousled her daughter’s messy hair with a smile. "Mama won’t leave these next few days. I’ll stay here with both of you."
"Liar!" Sangyu pouted and leaned against her mother’s leg.
"Really?" Ziyan looked up at his mother with wide eyes.
Yi Luowa smiled and nodded, taking one child in each hand and turning them around. "Didn’t you notice Grandpa is here, too?"
The two little ones lit up when they saw him, but they still wouldn’t let go of their mother’s hand.
"Grandpa~"
"Grandpa."
Long Che walked in with a smile, affectionately ruffling the two children’s hair. "Sangyu’s new hairstyle looks amazing. Even birds could build a nest in it."
"Hmm~" Sangyu snorted. "Grandma doesn’t know how to braid."
Tong Yao helplessly handed Yi Luowa a wooden comb. "Every day it’s a battle over her hair. When you’re at home, no matter how I braid it, she likes it. But as soon as you leave, no matter what I do, it’s wrong."
Yi Luowa smiled helplessly. "She’s playing games with us. She thinks if Grandma struggles enough, I’ll come back sooner."
Having her little scheme exposed, Sangyu pouted. "That’s not it at all!"
Yi Luowa imitated her tone, "Then tell us, what is it?"
Ziyan tugged at his mother’s hand. "She just wants Mama!"
Yi Luowa laughed. "See? Your brother said it honestly."
"No! That’s not it!" Sangyu blew on the stray strand of hair hanging in her eyes. A moment later, it returned to its place, and she angrily exclaimed, "My hair won’t behave!"
The Empress Haotian had been laughing, but her eyes now filled with tears. The children couldn’t bear to be apart from their mother, yet Yi Luowa was practically trapped in Haotian by her parents.
The Emperor Haotian looked at his wife. Their eyes met silently. The Emperor shook his head slightly, and the Empress swallowed her tears.
Yi Luowa had Ziyan accompany his grandparents while she braided her daughter’s hair.
Even though the little bun she made wasn’t as pretty as Grandma’s, Sangyu clapped happily after looking in the mirror. "Beautiful!"
Everyone quickly chimed in with approval: "It’s lovely!"
Sangyu held her mother’s hand, looking up. "I want to stay with Mama."
"..." Yi Luowa was momentarily speechless. Fulfilling such a small wish of hers seemed impossible for now.
"Soon, once Grandma is discharged, Mama can come back to Xiawu and stay with you," the Empress Haotian said while leaning against the bed and extending her hand. "Mama is tired. Let her sit for a moment. Grandma will play with Sangyu. Okay?"
Sangyu hesitated, then looked up and said, "Mama won’t leave!"
Yi Luowa nodded. "I won’t leave. These next few days, I’ll stay with you and your brother."
Assured by her mother’s promise, Sangyu climbed onto her grandmother’s bed. Once tucked under the blanket, she carefully pulled the covers up for her.
Even at such a young age, she already knew how to care for others. The Empress Haotian was moved to tears.
Ziyan didn’t wait for anyone to tell him; he quickly grabbed some tissues and ran over. "Wipe your tears!"
"Good boy. You’re both such lovely children..." The Empress Haotian gazed at Tong Yao and Long Che with tearful gratitude. "Thank you both for helping raise Yi Luowa’s children so well."
Tong Yao approached, taking the tissues and wiping her tears away. "Don’t mention it. We didn’t do much; it’s all thanks to Yi Luowa’s upbringing."
Seeing the two children cautiously watching her, the Empress quickly held back her tears. "Speaking of Yi Luowa, I have to thank you and Long Che even more. If you hadn’t raised her so well all these years, she wouldn’t be able to shoulder Haotian’s responsibilities now."
Long Che chuckled. "Zhi Lan, you’re giving credit to the wrong people. Yi Luowa’s success is all thanks to Rui’er. We didn’t have anything to do with it."
