Chapter 688: Chapter 583: Child Suffers from Hypoxia and Asphyxiation (Part 1)

The two little ones sitting at the table slowly opened the box to reveal two jade Dragon and Phoenix Seals inside.

Long Che exchanged a glance with his son, clearly puzzled. What’s the meaning of this?

The Queen Haotian chuckled and said, "One for literature, one for military, let’s see which one these two little ones pick."

The jade seals, one carved as a dragon and the other as a phoenix, were exquisitely detailed. The two little ones kept looking at them, obviously intrigued by the items.

Sangyu was the first to stretch out her tiny hand, touching the phoenix-head seal briefly before pulling her hand back. Flashing her tiny teeth in a cheeky grin at her brother, she said, "You take it!"

Ziyan reached out, picked up the dragon-head seal, and stuffed it into his sister’s hand.

Sangyu giggled, took the phoenix-head seal, and placed it back into her brother’s hands.

The two little ones clutched their seals tightly as if they were treasures, showing no intention of letting go. Long Che tried offering them all sorts of toys to trade, but they refused to hand over the seals to their grandfather.

Long Che, exasperated, turned to Prince Charles. "Third Uncle, does it really have to be like this?"

Prince Charles nodded with a smile. "I know none of you want it to turn out this way, but these two children are destined for this path. Your present is their future."

Tong Airui froze for a moment, pointing at the dragon seal in his daughter’s hands. "Grandfather, are you sure they didn’t pick wrong? Sangyu actually picked the Military Seal!"

Prince Charles chuckled and shook his head. "In this century, the Fang Yao Continent will see two female generals—one is your sister Tingting, and the other is Sangyu!"

Tong Airui pinched the bridge of his nose and shouted at his daughter, "You little troublemaker! Out of all the things you could’ve chosen, why this one?!"

Yi Luowa pursed her lips and said, "Let it go. Grandfather already said—it’s their destiny."

Tong Airui ran his hand through his hair irritably, muttering, "I’m beyond annoyed right now!"

It was as though Sangyu hadn’t heard her father at all. She and her brother were busy banging the seals on the table, one thud after another.

"These little troublemakers! Keep hitting like that, and they’ll damage the seals!" Tong Yao tried to snatch the items away, but Sangyu and Ziyan quickly clutched the seals tightly to their chests.

"Just let them play with them," Queen Haotian said with a laugh. "When I last visited these two, I specifically asked Third Uncle to do a prediction. He told me the result, and I didn’t fully believe it at the time. So, when I returned home, I had two seals made and wanted to test today if they’d pick them. Now, I truly believe it!"

"Sigh..." Tong Yao sighed deeply. "It’s already enough that we have Long Che and Rui’er in the family. Who would’ve thought the kids would inherit the same busy fate?"

"Another even busier one will come in the future," Prince Charles mumbled softly. Lady Jing Ya quickly gave him a look, and Prince Charles smiled gently, adding in a low voice, "Fine, I won’t say more." 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝕨𝕖𝗯𝚗𝚘𝕧𝕖𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝕞

Yi Luowa pressed her lips together and instructed the servants to clear the table. Then, the family took the two children to the living room.

Sangyu and Ziyan, holding tightly onto their treasures, teetered across the floor. The siblings waddled up to Pengpeng, and Sangyu held out her seal in front of him.

Pengpeng glanced at it listlessly and turned his head away.

Sangyu beamed at her older cousin and said, "Here!"

"Don’t want it!" Pengpeng backed away slightly.

"Here!" Sangyu stubbornly moved the seal forward again.

Pengpeng glanced at her, reached out, and just as he was about to take it, Sangyu swiftly pulled the seal back into her embrace.

"Giggle... silly! Fooled you!"

"Heehee..." Ziyan grabbed his sister’s hand and started running.

Pengpeng, puffing out his cheeks in frustration, glared at them and scooted off the couch, muttering, "I’ll get you two!"

"Haha... these two little mischief-makers!" Maizekai laughed, patting his son lightly on the bottom. "You’re the older one—let the younger ones have their fun."

"Mean!"

"Your sister said she was just playing with you."

"Mean sister!" Pengpeng huffed and stomped his little legs as he chased after the siblings.

Ziyan pulled his sister behind the couch. Sangyu slipped in halfway, leaving her little bottom sticking out.

Pengpeng reached out, giving her tiny bum a gentle tap. "Mean sister!"

Everyone burst into laughter.

Sangyu turned back to glare at her older cousin, pouting as she rubbed her little bottom. "Play! Didn’t know?"

"I was playing too!" Pengpeng huffed again but grew uneasy when he saw her lip quivering as if she was about to cry. Quickly, he held out his small hand toward her. "Light tap next time."

"Strength!" Sangyu dramatically raised her tiny hand in the air.

Pengpeng wrinkled his nose. "If it hurts, then cry!"

Sangyu pouted again and gently tapped Pengpeng’s hand in return.

Ziyan looked back and forth between Pengpeng and his sister before grabbing both of their small hands. The three children huddled behind the couch, whispering in a language only they seemed to understand.

Connie, watching with eyes full of warmth and love, gently rubbed her belly. Her own child was due to be born in just one month.
